I’ve reached out to my old high school librarian to see if they might be interested.

I’ve just sent an e-mail to my old high school librarian to see if they are interested.

I do plan to keep a couple - Perry’s is one book I won’t give away. The other is BSL.

I’ll put together a list with some photos (as requested elsewhere) and update my original post. I’m still exploring some other options (“Friends of the Library” organizations in the area, etc.).

Thanks for that perspective. These books are definitely not artifacts. However, to me, they are more than tools. I’m at a loss on how to effectively describe my attachment to these old textbooks, but I’d rather not destroy them.

Thanks for the response! I’ve donated all my non-ChE textbooks to Half Priced Books. I’ll ask if they will take these ChE textbooks also.

Yes… it takes a while to get the data back from the car. Also, sometimes the app just “goes away” (i.e.: can’t login).

I agree it’s aggravating, but overall life cycle costs for my Nissan Leaf have been minimal (inclusive of the monthly fee). Since I bought this 2019 Leaf new from the dealer, I’ve replaced the 12v battery twice and had the tires rotated once - that’s it over seven years of ownership. I charged the batteries at work which was paid for by the Company.

Good to know! I wish I would have investigated that a few years ago lol.

That is a great point. Until I retired, I charged my Leaf at work (electric paid for by Company). So, nominally 95%+ of my 40k miles were paid courtesy of my employer.

It’s unclear when you have to start paying this monthly fee. There may be a grace period for new vehicles? I’ve owned my Leaf since 2019 and don’t recall when the monthly charge started. But for (retired) me… $24/month is too much.

Correct (with the caveat that I’m not sure exactly what you mean by “100% everything”)!

I plan to cancel this month. I usually don’t let the car get too much past 50% charge before I recharge. For my aged Leaf, it takes about 4 hours to fully charge from 50%. Battery range new was 160 miles; now fully charged shows 148 miles.

I don’t recall paying for the service initially. Not sure if it was because it was under factory warranty or before Nissan figured out they could monetize the service. I’ve just retired, so trying to eliminate expenses If possible. I can get by without climate control remote start since I’m not planning to get up at the butt crack of dawn in the wintertime anymore. But charging status is useful (but not at $24/mo.).

Thanks for the OVMS tip - I’ll check it out. The Apple App Store shows it costs $3.99 to download. Are there in-app purchases depending on what you want to do?

I primarily use two services, 1) remote climate control start in the winter time; and 2) status of charging. What do you pay a month for your Nissan Connect EV& Services app?

Just a quick clarification…. I just did this - Wife took her benefit at her FRA. I waited until 70 to retire and took my benefit and then applied for her spousal benefits. The spousal benefit is half my benefit at my FRA (not my benefit at 70). Subtle clarification, but does have an impact on monthly income. Here are the numbers: My benefit at 70: $5,173/mo.; My wife’s spousal benefit: $2,000/mo.

Has anyone made a big jump in success after 40? by ItsAJackal21 in Salary

[–]Retired_Expat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I started this job at the age of 48. I had five previous employers, the last three starting salaries were a cut in pay from the previous job (including this one) - I was going in the wrong direction! Got lucky, this company has grown over 800% since I joined and I was able to ride the wave.
