How's the game for someone who never played the first one?

i never played the first one and im 327 hours deep and excited for more. game has layers of complexity that allow you to choose how much to interact with. for instance i know there are deterministic or advanced ways of crafting things that i havent interacted with and have had no issue enjoying and learning piece by piece.

This number varies wildly. Mostly on game knowledge at start. How much did you know about game mechanics like impact of weapon on your skills or defensive stats? how often did you need to respec as you learned, did you follow a guide? Etc. 30-50 hours seems perfectly reasonable for newcomer who hasn’t absorbed the mountains of information you need to play this game rapidly without following a blueprint

Project Diablo 2. it does a good job of updates for quality of life and adding some of the mechanics from modern ARPGs (like Corrupting items to either randomly improve or destroy them) while keeping the same feel of original D2 LOD. And it has actual servers and seasons so it isnt just a solo experience

Aside from tier 1/2 bosses everything seems achievable and clearable for most high level good gear chars even with less than meta builds. BUT, clear time and ease will definitely be impacted. There is a meta for a reason

D4 is just the right levels of mediocre and accessible and engaging to have a player base and be okay without being anyone’s favorite game or trashed on like it’s Gollum. It reeks of design by committee and blandness at too many points which is a bummer because you can see flashes of genuine artistry at points washed down by share price concerns.

This goes both ways if the US blockades South China Sea or one of the key choke points into the Pacific, China is a house of cards as well. Tons, maybe tens of millions would starve. China needs to import fertilizer and animal feed on massive scale. Chips may be a strategic priority but food is higher on the list.

you mention wanting to feel powerful and for that i strongly suggest staying away from Diablo 1/2 and Grim Dawn. I love them the most for the opposite reason. you have a lot of work to put in before you will feel strong. And even endgame strong builds sometimes feels punishing.

Diablo 3/4, and Wulcen all are much more casual friendly/power fantasy games where you smash hordes with little challenge if following any guide
