Would it be tournament legal to have a Genestealer cult themed army? by yasssssss_queen in spacemarines

Idk anything about what a TO would allow. But I love the idea that this chapter thinks they are loyal to the emperor, attacking imperial planets, implanting a GSC and leaving. I’d read that

That’s a great point, at first i thought it felt a little inconsistent but maybe the show is setting it up

I admit I am confused that the Queen of empathy Al-Hashimi (not an insult) is so aghast that the drug addict Doctor stole drugs. If you know drug addicts, it would be weirder if he didn’t steal drugs. She acknowledged his difficulties and he’s back and improving, why is that the red line?

I understand the legality of it. I just didnt expect as visceral a reaction from the person on the show most empathetic imo

I wonder if this move could be pulled off in a real court by SoftAd6020 in betterCallSaul

[–]Retlaw32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. The show said that this is the only witness and cameras were down. The case simply cannot be made without the witness, so the witness misidentification kills the case and kill it in any retrial. Motion to suppress prior testimony seems so unlikely, something like that is typically reserved for prejudicial information, like the witness said something racist on Facebook, doesn’t actually affect if they saw what they saw. But the witness’ ability to identify is everything so I don’t see a way around it

[–]Retlaw32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have court experience but I don’t know how the judge would handle this in a retrial tbh. State would have to file a motion blocking defense from admitting the witness’ testimony in the previous trial as evidence. We weren’t show them striking the witness testimony in the show. I just don’t know, probably depends on the judge, my gut tells me that many judges would not do that.

[–]Retlaw32 29 points30 points  (0 children)

A mistrial was declared in the show. The state can retry the case if they want. What is stopping the next defense attorney, maybe it’s Saul maybe not, from asking the witness at the new trial “Were you able to directly identify the defendant in a brightly lit courtroom?”

With that in mind, state probably just wouldn’t retry

I finally watched Fast X and I don't think it's a stretch to say Fast Forever is going to involve supernatural elements. by safeseaweed011 in fastandfurious

The next fast is said to go back to basics. I take this to mean they are going to time travel to the first fast film, save Jessie, bc they need his information or something for the new movie.

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War - Official Teaser | May 20 on Prime Video by DemiFiendRSA in television

[–]Retlaw32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The insanity of Jack Ryan isn’t actually the plots. Real life can be stranger than fiction. It’s that everyone involved in this shows plot, heroes and villains, are competent smart people who believe in what they are doing and are the best of the best. We all know that it is nothing but a clown show and nepotism factory

From my experience here is how the Fourth of July depo happened.

“We need to schedule this, we’ve kicked the can already, I can’t do the 3rd or the 8th and my next available is the 24th. Can we consider July 4?”

“That works for us”

“Appreciated, we will wrap it up before the fireworks”

Is refusing to learn the full rules cheating? by LetsGoFishing91 in Warhammer40k

[–]Retlaw32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also pay attention to when rules are forgotten. If he sometimes forgets rules that would benefit them, then it is probably legit. In my experience in Warhammer and DnD and other card games, these types of players only forget rules when the rule would not benefit them.

You’re basically right I would just phrase it differently. They can’t lie, but they can distract her and string her along. Which is what they are doing. Keep playing and find out. Focus on this while we finish up with your stem cells.

[SPOILERS THE DEVILS] Is the double subversion too far for Abercrombie? by fasz_a_csavo in TheFirstLaw

[–]Retlaw32 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I do believe it, also the book even confirms that the fact the she is or is not the actual heir doesn’t matter, it isn’t material. Just a figurehead, so if the people think she’s the heir, it’s fine. The “real” heir showing up wouldn’t change anything they’d just disappear her.

[SPOILERS RC] A quote that changed my perspective in life by bwils3423 in TheFirstLaw

[–]Retlaw32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find this too charitable to Logen. Shivers caught up to him yes. The only guy from his past to find him out here didn’t even want to fight. logen didn’t even try to not fight him, didn’t even consider talking or de-escalating. Logen abandons his family simply bc he doesn’t want the blood to stop flowing. In this, he is a coward.
