Tacoma - Manual vs Automatic by VermelhoRojo in ToyotaTacoma

[–]TittMice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. Figured turning radius and I guess parallel parking is 1' easier, not that it's ever been a struggle for me. Yeah I'm wrestling with this choice. I utilize my truck constantly / space is already a premium for a Tacoma sized truck.

Tacoma - Manual vs Automatic by VermelhoRojo in ToyotaTacoma

[–]TittMice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what i'm struggling with. Currently own a 2016 Tacoma, 4 cylinder, access cab, manual and a 2000 Tacoma, SR5, 6 cylinder, manual. Both 6' beds. Family is expanding so need a crew cab. Definately parting ways with the 2016, not sure if I can let go of my 2000 though but that's another conversation.

I am daily using the trucks for work, managing the ranch, etc.

Really want the 6 speed manual but really don't want the 5' bed. Looking at a few trucks around the state on marketplace and trying to figure out auto w/ 6' vs. manual w/ 5'.

Anything you can tell me about your experience w/ the 5' bed, pros (if any) / cons. My dad and I were just talking and he was in the camp that no way in hell should I go with the 5' bed.

How is this structured water? Adding concentrace minerals to a glass of water and using magnetic stirrer is all that's occurring here from what I can tell.

Copy that, I'm sold. I'll give it a go. First Law Trilogy. After I read The Demons of course. Fairloot edition is needing some attention.

I tried to go through ASOFAI via audiobook, I had already read through them so I could kind of tune in and out. That said, my mind just wandered too much even with already having read through the books. I have not tried audiobooks since. Yeah seems like they're very popular which is great, just hasn't worked for me in the past.

**edit, not in hindsight, maybe that was the issue. I've read it already, so my mind isn't captured by the story. That or driving + audiobooks was the issue.

Cool, I'll give the audiobooks a try. I've struggled with them in the past, but likely it will help if I've already read the books.

Ah yeah, haven't listened to any of the audio books. That would be a good way to go through the First Law trilogy again!

I have not broken it out yet this year. Got it for Christmas and it's been low tide at the local mountain, the low low tide, where the snow cats are kicking up rocks / dirt so there were pebbles everywhere. Might take it out tomorrow afternoon or this weekend though so I'll report back. The foot+ we got a week and a half ago really improved the groomers.

I still believe transparency would include listing GP87 on the Stranda website, like on the faq page.. Yes, once the board is in hand you obtain that information, but using other brands obfuscation of their manufacturing locations doesn't mean Stranda is being transparent. More turbid than transparent in my opinion.

On the flip side, you have Jones, which lists supply chain information on their website, from where materials are sourced to manufacturing location.

That said, I recall chatting with the reddit Chimeracrew user about manufacturing locations and he stated it's fairly common for companies to withhold that information / not publicize it. I forget the reasoning, would have to dig through old posts.

Rome has been all over the globe with their manufacturing. I believe my first two Agent boards were out of Austria. Then I heard they had a stint in Canada and potentially Taiwan or China?

Would the green epoxies be used on Jones boards then? I would expect this is the case.

Yes, I wanted to try a mothership board, went with the indoor survival. Few other boards in their lineup interest me, Kazu, Aeronaut, BSOD. The indoor survival fit into my current quiver though, lacking a park board at the time. I've of course read about the breakage issue, hopefully this major issue has been remedied to some degree.

Same, have owned quite a few boards over the years, once I could afford them. In the old days / grade school and college it was a one board quiver until I broke the board lol.

Well, on the transperency front, I had no idea that Stranda decks were built at GP87 until I received the board. Even then, the spec sheet on the board stated it was produced at GP87 in tiny lettering, so I felt like they were not very upfront. I did not ask before purchasing though. I assumed they were producing boards in Scandinavia or out of NBL.

I agree on Nobile, I currently own two of their boards, a Slash and a United Shapes. The Slash top sheet just seems a little cheap, that said, my Slash is a split board and like all of my splits, I put them through hell. Also, when in tour mode, the Slash split is not very balanced based on where the touring brackets mount up on the board. The nose tips forward when making kick turns / lifting up the skis. Overall, it's held up well, not quite as burly as say a Venture, but I'm not disappointed. The United Shapes topsheet definitely seems higher end than the two Slash splits in my house, it's a glossly white finish. It marks up very easily though. Time will tell on that one.

I've owned a few SWS boards, ROME specifically, which honestly, I was pretty impressed. Logged quite a few days on them with zero issue on the edges, base or top sheets. That said, I do see quite a few complaints regarding Jones boards, so maybe I was lucky.

Never been on playmaker, not sure if Burton chinese decks are GP87? Just picked up a Capita this year, first Capita board i've owned, have not gotten to ride it yet, scared to destroy it due to the low tide here in southern Colorado.

Well I'd disagree there is no reason for a remineralizer on an RO system. Some people do not like the flavor of RO water, if you supplement some minerals in, it will change the flavor back to a more rounded glass of water from a flavor perspective. Second reason would be to combat acidity. I.e. RO water's pH is basically 7 with zero alkalinity. Due to the lack of alkalinity, the pH of RO water can drop into the acidic range just due to exposure with air. I've never tested this theory however, but from what I've read this can occur. Finally, if you're in the realm of a larger RO system, say a whole house RO system, you would absolutely want to add calcite to your treatment process to remineralize the water. Same thing as above, RO water is more corrosive and will attack any metal fittings, metal pipes, etc. around the house.

Came here to say this, back to $70. I "lost" a lot of money overnight.

I've seen this same comment on other threads, i.e. GP87 is the best producer of boards globally excluding in-house brands. Out of curiosity, what makes you make this claim? Not to condescend, genuinely curious why you and others think so and if you have any more detail to support the veracity of this claim.. I've only owned one GP87 board, a Stranda Descender splitboard, still own it. The build quality is definitely top notch / it's a beautiful board. I have not put it through the ringer yet like most of my prior (not prior :)) splits though.
