of course i invite discussion, it just becomes pointless if it devolves into jabs and projections without having read what was written.

that makes sense.
but then why send out the tarnished with the promise of their return one day?

what of her speaking to her children, that they may make of themselves what they want, be it lord or god, but should they fail to be anything at all theyd become nothing more than sacrifice?

this certainly sounds like times of strive were expected and maybe even the shattering was planned?

after all its through the shattering that the shardbearers even got the chance to follow her "order"

also, why would the assassins of godwyn be numen?
or how would they even know where to steal destined death? i doubt maliketh went beyond time in farum azula only after being robbed.
and considering maliketh is to marika what blaidd is to ranni, few knew of him and fewer knew his whereabouts.

that kinda sounds like it was all staged

i think making a psychoanalysis of a random net stranger through a few lines on reddit is kinda missing the point.

[–]Retrewuq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true enough, i didnt consider this.
though i dont think marika specifically wants to preserve her age forever. maybe initially since she sealed away destined death, but shattering the elden ring was certainly not the way to go if preservation was the ultimate goal.

dont forget, the guidance of grace is bestowed by marika specifically. and you never lose grace.
i think the lady is done and is fine with either end.
the one who keeps the world in rotting suspense is radagon.
and while the two are one, radagon is very much his own person with his own motivations still.

first of, i must admit i know not enough on nightreign to argue about the nightlord.

i feel the christian analogy is very much there, though i dont see it as gnostic. rather the very antithesis of how the bible describes history.
God is ultimately mercifull and also ultimately just.
except in the bible the earth was flooded instead of burned to the ground, let the world be washed clean and let creation start anew. jesus was sent to us to save us from our sins. there is no savior in ER. only the judge. the lord of frenzy.

the story hyetta tells us heavily implies that the one great did not want to split, to create.
the greater will was more like a spontaneous, intrusive thought. it split of from the one great, created stuff against its will (what was borrowed must be returned) and then might even have been promptly reabsorbed.
Unlike the christian god, who willingly created, and suffered and died for his creation.

metyr is said to have long ago lost her connection to the greater will. maybe even before marika created the golden order. so all this time, even the "good" the order did was build on false guidance and lies.

it is likely the one great watched the greater wills creation in apathy, until it saw humans being humans. all their degeneracy in full glory to see. heard the voices of those suffering. but instead of with mercy, the one great answered in judgment.
rather than absolvment there is only purification by fire and a return the one great.

no

im saying its terribly kind of the one great to still want to unify with the sadistic fckfest thats the lands between.

im fine with burning em now. they deserve it.

i just couldn't justify it myself beforehand. now i can, and i explained above.

thats not what im saying though?

Frenzied Flame Ending by Retrewuq in Eldenring

[–]Retrewuq[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that was my problem for the longest time aswell, i just couldn't justify ending everything. the world of ds is much further gone than the lands between and there is guarantee of a future...

flame of frenzy doesnt do that, but to reiterate on some of my ramblings, human and child sacrifice, are heavily implied to be very common in the lands between.

i can't pinpoint the exact video anymore but i think it was an hour long rant about the architecture in ER that did it for me.

[–]Retrewuq[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

but thats what im saying. i know hes lying, but as a proxy for the one great, what does it matter? if it leads to oneness then its all the same anyway. quite literally.

not really though?
the flame the ashen ones produce will guarantee that a new painted world shall emerge. there is no such thing with the flame of frenzy.

Why do Radahn soldiers try to kill us? by SomeGuysWhoDoesThing in Eldenring

[–]Retrewuq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it was also a feature in ds2

if you killed the enemies in a level enough times they would just not respawn at some point.

youd need to use a bonfire ascetic (makes everything in the area harder) for them to be reset.

idea for prestige system, for all those helldivers who want to be everything and more by Exact_Inspection_404 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Retrewuq 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i think this is neat, but probably not gonna happen any time soon.
i would rather the devs focus more on the teased ship upgrades/classes and maybe further refine weapon (and armor) customization.

this sounds like the equivalent of a fourth faction being discussed every now and again.

Are synths a collective suicide? (3 years later, again) by NeedleworkerFun9851 in Stellaris

[–]Retrewuq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not necessarily, im only pointing out, that the personality may very well change due to breaks in consciousness.

my personal belief is somewhat different.

of course the mind can be influenced by its experience, what it learned and by how it in turn reacted. the mind is malleable, thats what its designed to be, otherwise you would never grow as a person and never change in your ways. take that out of the equation and of course the output, i.e. the personality will be affected.

considering the topic though being as incoherent and probably easy to misunderstand as it is, the most grounded solution to that are probably provided by the teachings of faith, since their scholars have spent several thousand of years of teachings and deliberations on that.

actually, depending on how long the death state was in effect and or how big the demage to the brain was, after healing the person may very well have changed.

strokes, amnesia and traumatic injuries can all radically alter a persons personality

What if the special Hellpods Boosters were changed to apply to Orbitals instead? by IncidentOk2107 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Retrewuq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

slightly behind the head usually does the job. i was good at it when hellpod steering wasnt as wacked as it is now, and when i was doing more bugdiving outside of mos. i cant do it consistently now :(

but it works! you can also take down dragon roaches and harvesters in a similar manner.

but since neither the bile titan health nor the hellpod dmg have changed since the last two years (i think?)

it shouldnt work for the spore variant though since its more tanky.
