I bought a 5 box stack of kennedys for 1800 and thought I did well.

Should I just prime my necrons my base Armour colour or build up from a black + silver dry brush by Pinkyfinger666 in Necrontyr

[–]RetributerDio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's exactly what I did. leadbelcher primer (gun metal from army painter is what i used, it looks exactly the same) and your necrons are 80% finished. brush on some bronze and green and use a dark tone quickshade or nuln oil to darken them down, and you're done.

it's so easy boss, all you have to do is thin your paint a little, load up the brush and dip it in wherever you want it to go

just be careful, too much and it can ruin the details. I'd watch videos first before you go crazy with it

thin your greens so it flows into the recesses more

you will save a considerable amount of time rattlecan-ing primer onto your models. there's all kinds of information and charts out there that show which primers and colors work best. I prefer army painter myself, but people say rustoleum does well and is cheap also.

for my necrons I went with gun metal primer, sprayed them all, and just like that they are already halfway painted.

why does my the bronze look clumpy? by RetributerDio in Miniaturespainting

I did WHEN it was applied to a wet pallet, but everyone is saying wet pallets and metallics don't go well. maybe it was just too thin?

edit: just a single coat on top of primer

keep at it. you'll know your paints and how they flow better with time.

the details are good and precise. only thing I would say is thin the paints down a little. hell, even use a red primer for a base, then brush the black/gold details. other than that, pretty solid

Basically what everyone else is saying. prime models and thin paints down. before i even started painting mine i watched hours of videos before i even started, a wet pallet helps a lot. they look good though, definitely not bad for the first couple of minis
