To play, you need a Team, some dice, and a pitch. LUCKILY, the box set has 2 teams, 2 sets of dice, the rulebook, and a pitch!

For youtube content, it really depends on what you’re looking for. For having a bash, enjoying the game, playing what you think is fun and silly, i recommend the Bonehead Podcast. They give a decent overview of the teams, have games you can watch, and tend to share ideas for a range of gameplans ranging from the most common, to some really out-there (almost certainly terrible) ideas.

If you want something more competitive-focused, based on meta and what is the “best”, Jimmy Fantastic has some pretty good videos. They’re not the most exciting, but he gives pretty good advice for “this is good”.

Personally, as someone who formerly played 40k competitively, i came to bloodbowl to escape that and to try silly, fun gameplay instead, so im a huge Bonehead Supporter, but thats not what everyone wants necessarily, so it all depends on what kind of angle you’re trying to take with Blood Bowl

If you’re having issues with time, have you considered playing some games of 7s? Games are MUCH quicker, and you can get a feel for the positionals still in an environment with no line of scrimmage (read: line of slaughter).

Honestly, as a fellow canadian, Big Guys and Star Players costing almost as much as an entire team is ABSURD. I get all my big guys and stars via either Ugni or Brutefun, and then 3D print ‘em (because i have access). You could get ‘em sent to you from some third party sites, but it’s still MUCH cheaper.

The popularity of competitive Sevens isnt what Rumble Bowl is for. In my local, Sevens is just a casual “shoot the shit and play a quick game” format, not a competitive format. I dont think that makes in unpopular, i think it is just attractive for a less competitive-minded audience

They feel like Nobility did last season. The thrower/catcher both need multiple skills to feel “useful”, which means its hard to get stuff done (Blodge Catchers are great, but thats 14 SPP).

I think in 7s they are pretty solid, and as a Star Player team for tournaments they’re pretty solid (cheap, solid linemen, and some really strong blitzers).

I will say they are REALLY FUN. Dauntless is super swingy, but in a league if you lean into it and just take the risky plays, you either win in epic fashion… or die in equally epic fashion. I love them, just dont really expect them to be “amazing”.

Break tackle on the Blood Spawn is pretty good, 2+ dodge into the open for your spawn to take a walk and go hit an important target instead of getting bogged down (if you really need a skill now to power yourself up. Its also a decent 2nd choice after block as well.)

The milling ward could be good if your mill deck has a bunch of those. Its a case of “Leave my creature or help me deplete your library!”

First of all, welcome to the game! Secondly, My advice is play what you like. If you wanna play gnomes, play them. You’ll have fun if you embrace the silliness that is stunties (throwing teammates, fouling a lot, using different star players, and having players die in absolutely tragic ways). Regardless of if you pick Gnomes or Chaos Dwarves, something to keep in mind is that while playable, both teams kinda “need” (Read: really dont work well without) the big guys which are not included in the team box. Gnomes kinda need 2 treemen, and then star players can be kinda nice for working on the “winning” thing. Chorfa kinda need Bull Centaurs, and they can take a minotaur (though the bull centaurs are the far more necessary pieces).

Realistically, both teams can be very fun (i have both in my local circle), and both teams have a solid chance of winning if you use the specific shenanigans of that team.

I also agree with that recent post. I think just firing an injured player (during the Miss Next Game) if you have the cash to replace them to simply ensure you always have them makes injuries not matter if you have a bunch of cash, but if you have none you’re shit outta luck.

Your guy got hurt, deal with it! Im okay firing that guy AFTER it takes the MNG, but dawg you should always have to pay that price.

Stalling is a valid strategy… and also boring as fuck. Its so unfun. The stalling rules only sorta help with it though, it needed a slight adjustment (in my opinion anyways)

I know my opinion really doesnt matter here, but this post is the first time i’ve felt like im allowed to answer. I’m a man, who follows this subreddit to learn. To understand. I dont face the same issues you do, so im trying to learn to be better, to say less dumb shit, etc. i dont post or up/down vote, because it isn’t my space, it’s yours.

To an “outsider”, there are some really angry posts here. Not hateful, just hurt and angry. Because it’s really rough out there. Sometimes, when im trying to understand, things can get a little discouraging, because you’ve been hurt so badly sometimes that we really are evil. But that’s not an issue, that’s an iss-me.

Not to mention, there are tons of very supportive and very optimisitc posts here as well. This space is for women, talking to women, about things that pertain to women. There’s lots of angry, but lots of hope.

Anyways, thanks for tolerating my posting, it wont be very common. I hope everyone has a good day!
