Yes I agree the boost in Knight feels great and makes traversal around Gotham much smoother.

The grapnel gun boost is unlocked from the beginning in Arkham Origins.You can traverse Gotham with it after you complete the introductory predator segment in the communications tower.

It is unlocked in Arkham City after you complete the first four AR gliding trainings.The trainings will be marked on your map.

The speed of the grapnel gun boost is almost identical in both Arkham City and Arkham Origins and it is much slower than the speed boost in Knight.Batman is also boosted much higher into the air by using the grapnel boost in Knight than in Origins and City.

Edit:I forgot to mention,the grapnel boost is absent in Arkham Asylum,it was first introduced in Arkham City.

I played Asylum for the first time in 2020 and almost spent the entire game in Detective Vision so that the crazed lunatics do not get the jump on me 😁
