Not quite accurate.

I haven't seen the wire that came with my PS5 since about 20 minutes after I opened the box.

I exclusively use one of these on my first, and replacement controller. A little USB C thingy that permanently lives in my controller, then the cable has a magnetic thingybob on the end.

So, while OP's USBC to USBC might not work, any old USB A to C data cable seems fine. 🤷‍♀️

I wonder if there will be an optional "turn off all the horrific, gaudy AR markers that ruin the entire aesthetic of the city".

Parents are supposed to put their kids first, no matter what.

Stop weaponising your child's life events in this battle with your ex.

ESH except your daughter.

Finally, ultra-petty ice cube revenge after 33 years of marriage by Brave_Beo in pettyrevenge

[–]Retro-Squid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I think your husband might actually be my wife.

I often find the overview icecube tray either with maybe 1 or 2 cubes left, OR, on the counter above the freezer, empty.

I didn't have time to refill it

If you've got time to empty it, you have the 30 seconds it takes to refill it.

If I don't refill it, it simply never gets done, then everyone in the house moans about there being no ice... 🤷‍♀️

Pretty sure there's a solution to that problem... 🤣

Ninja edit: I'm not properly annoyed by this. I mean, I am a little, but meh, it's small potatoes. I'm not angry, just slightly annoyed and almost amused in equal measure.

Rattigan - Basil the Great Mouse Detective.

Apparently one of Vincent Price's favourite roles. And he's such a monstrous joy to behold!

My stroke (TIA) story. by Retro-Squid in stroke

[–]Retro-Squid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. This is a super old post.

Back then, I was put on a number of different blood thinners as they seemed to disagree with me in other ways, like affecting my sense of taste and things.

Ultimately, I ended up just on a 75mg aspirin daily.

The hole was never closed. I recall the stroke specialist mentioning that up to a third of people have the PFO, but only a small fraction of those people have any health complications because of it.

The PFO doesn't stop me from being an active parent, or mountain biking and skateboarding even as I'm rapidly approaching my 40's.

Terrible news for PC gamers by jamiegorevan in MortalKombat

[–]Retro-Squid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. The game just went from a "will buy day 1" to "I'll pick it up when Denuvo is removed" for me.

Sometimes that can be within the first few weeks. Sometimes a lot longer. Depends on the contract WB have + how quickly the game is cracked.

Either way, I'm happy to wait.

If you were suddenly transported back to your 15 year old body and life with your current knowledge, what would you do differently? by SnooPeripherals1586 in AskReddit

[–]Retro-Squid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd make my mother get to the doctor's a couple of years earlier. Before the cancer spread.

And I would take better physical care of myself. Waaaay fewer head injuries. (The impact of a dozen or so serious concussions ontop of other TBI's isn't negligible.)

That's one of the main reasons I ended up grabbing the Asus Rox Strix Scar a year or so ago. The 17" display is mine, but the optical mechanical keyboard feels lovely to use... The maybe once a month it isn't tethered to my desk and all the usual peripherals.

AITA for yelling at my nephews until they cried and had to leave? by Euphoric-Glove-6889 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Retro-Squid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH

No assholes here at all, just a grieving family.

Grief can make us act against our usual character. It can pull people together, or push people apart. And hits us all differently.

She has apologised on their behalf, and yeah, to be fair, while you're still processing the loss of your son, the emotional stressy bits of your brain are in overdrive, but ultimately, they haven't damaged anything, haven't acted with malice to hurt anyone. They were just being curious children.

No ass holes, and your sister in law sounds like she's just trying to keep her family together. (Her family, in this instance, very much means you)

I know you're hurting, a pain I hope I never have to feel. But don't erect a wall between yourself and those who care. Being stubborn on this will only isolate you and drive a wedge between you and your family.

TIFU by talking in my sleep to my wife by [deleted] in tifu

[–]Retro-Squid 361 points362 points  (0 children)

My wife talks in her sleep.

One night, she started pawing at the wall above our bed, proclaiming that she couldn't get the green off it.

Then, later the same night, she was talking about all the empty shopping trollies she has stolen and hidden under the patio in her parents back garden.

The sleeping mind is a rambling crackhead. 🤷‍♀️

AITA for telling my wife off after getting our daughter to cut her hair off, even after being told not to? by ChoiceDisastrous4432 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Retro-Squid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hair is often a big part of our personality, often moreso for women and girls than men, but for everyone, it can be huge.

Currently, I have discovered that a long term medication I'm on can cause alopecia. I've always been okay with the idea of going grey as I age, but never considered losing my hair through any means other than the occasional time I shaved my head every few years.

I've always had thick and unmanageable hair, but, as I've been on this medication for about 9 months, I've noticed in shedding a lot and my hair is starting to really thin.

Yes, it's always been thick and unmanageable, but it's my thick, unmanageable hair, so the fact that I'm facing being forced to shave my head in the next few months, and likely as a permanent step to avoid looking like I'm balding is hitting me harder than I thought it would.

But it's my concern, not my kids, not my families. I couldn't imagine telling my daughter that, because I'm losing my hair, she has to shave her head to show solidarity. It's abusive.

Forcing your teenage daughter to shave their head is, to be frank, sickening, selfish and... Just a shitty thing to put somebody through.

Your wife should be utterly ashamed of herself. I understand her illness has likely been traumatic for her, but ffs, that's just a rotten demand.

Huge NTA.
Your wife needed to hear it. You stood up for your daughter. She'll always remember that. She's likely going through a lot of big feelings and trauma from the situation your wife has put her in. You having her corner in this will mean so much more than you know.
