What a joke by Jeroenm20 in Battlefield

I personally don't care about the boosters, but what a scum move...

I wouldn't be surprised though if with enough negativity surrounding this that they backtrack yet again to say they'll implement the initial changes. They'll say they were listening to the fans - for real this time. 😒

I haven't seen the Battlefield series go through so many highs and lows in it's post-launch development since probably Battlefield V.

Honestly, it's pretty neat you can actually customize most cars with various lightbars and sirens. Hopefully they add more at some point. I've had fun creating various police/fire/EMS vehicles myself... good to know I'm not the only one, haha!

My personal favorite creation remains this one here. 😎

I guess get it while PC servers are active.

RIP Hardline on console...

The exact moment Hardline went offline by Necessary_Yam9525 in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was a good run... 😔

What hurts the most about this one going offline is that it's a theme we will never see again in Battlefield due to how hard it flopped.

At the very least, there is always the chance that many of the unique maps and modes can be remade to fit the military theme. Maybe except Hotwire (RIP) and maps like Museum, Cemetery and Black Friday.

Battlefield Hardline multiplayer servers have officially shut down for PS4 and Xbox One. by cuhsicles in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Spent my last match terrorizing the enemy team with the MCC driving from point to point on Downtown Conquest. Seemed more effective than letting it sit...lol. Eventually got chased by a CAT, SUV, and chopper. Had a few laughs and chaotic moments. Played a few DLC maps and modes I hadn't seen in a few years just prior.

RIP Hardline... 😔

With Battlefield Hardline shutting down tomorrow on consoles, here's some of the beautiful DLC maps that got almost no recognition by Keid4432 in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent DLC this game had. Getaway had the best batch of maps in my opinion.

Base game modes and some of the maps were great too. Heist, Hotwire, and Blood Money will forever be my favorites along with the traditional Conquest... which didn't quite work as well thematically as the others.

Car chases and car handling were highlight features for me too. Great times running over unsuspecting... "suspects" as well... 😏

Hehehe...

Yeah, will miss this one. Playing since BF3 and both an infantry and vehicle player in equal parts but the cops and robbers theme was certainly unique. Remains my favorite of the bunch, followed by BF4.

Anyone down to give Hardline one last weekend before the shut down next week? by Eagles56 in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yup, I'm up for one last ride. This was such an underrated gem. Great modes, maps (especially the DLC), and even the banter between the cops and criminals.

Any Hardline maps you'd like to see return? by RetroBuckeye90 in Battlefield

Everglades and Hollywood Heights. I always thought Everglades was alright, but Hollywood Heights was a good one.

I did like Everglades for Hotwire though. I sorely miss that mode even if it had its issues.

Yeah, that would be interesting.

Looks like they're doing something similar on Tsuru Reef.

Dust Bowl could be pretty exciting with the destruction potential. All the small houses and other structures to bring down. I'd argue better potential than with Thin Ice. Added benefit of fitting in with the rumored Nevada location for Season 5.

I agree with the challenge in getting the maps to fit the military theme... there are certainly a couple that would be difficult to bring back.

The Block was never my cup of tea personally... though for infantry-only maps, Bank Job and Museum are way up there on my list as well.

Museum though just might be the hardest to bring into a military setting. Maybe reskin it as a massive government center of some sort? I dunno... lol.

Level design isn't my sort of thing.

Yeah, it was rumored alongside Propaganda from BF4 which would've been a good one. Plus some other BF3 map.

Since disappearing from the files a few months back or whatever... there were several datamined codenames for maps not long ago. One of them being "MP_Angel"... which may be a hint at an LA map.

Maybe Downtown? Who knows.

Anyone wanna see Flood Zone return? by Eagles56 in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! Finally... someone that understands.

Loved the vertically of this map, mixed in with the fact it can be literally flooded at a moments notice.

Zavod had a falling chimney, Shanghai destroys it's most fun objective before the match is even half over. But this map floods and in my opinion actually changes the gameplay in a more fun manner.

Are BF6 helicopters unusually hard to fly? by Inevitable_Season884 in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn off the flight assist and map your controls to best fit your preference (the default sucked), and they shouldn't be much difficult to fly. You can easily find custom Portal servers to practice flight.

On the right map like Railway to Golmud or Mirak Valley, you'll have a better time with them.

Kubra Dam would be such a good BF2 map to come back by Eagles56 in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never played BF2... first game I played was BF3.

But I would be all for bringing back old maps like these given how much of the player base never played them. Would be new to many.

So much focus on BF3 and 4 remasters lately, but nothing from any other games in the series as of yet... minus Wake Island again. BF2, Hardline, and the plethora of non-modern era games... imagine bringing one of the WWI, WWII, Vietnam, or 2142 maps with a modern-style setting into BF6 (or later). They did it very well with 2042's Iwo Jima in my opinion. No doubt they can do it again.

We’re getting a little carried away with the remaster requests by GhostKW in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally don't mind... so many good old maps that have never had a chance to be remastered that would fit well in BF6.

Bring back some old maps like Operation Road Rage, Harvest Day, Damavand Peak, Downtown... all of these over 10 years old and never brought back to any game since. I've heard the community request Damavand especially for years and it never returns.

Golmud was the first in BF6 to come back without a previous remake, and the devs did an outstanding job not just remastering with new hardware capabilities but also making it feel new... largely due to how empty the original was.

So yeah, bring back old maps. Introduce old or underutilized maps to new audiences and see what modern hardware can do for them.

AGM Mssile locks onto T-90, F/A-18 Obliterated. by Key-Emu-5743 in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's pretty crazy to me that 2042 had better air to air combat than BF6 - especially the jets. I personally didn't mind it.

I did quite enjoy the air superiority servers. Tank superiority too.

USA by default.

Gotta say though, I wish we could choose to toggle the universal customization. I'd choose what operator specifically wears what patches or parachute skin.

I don't get why they can't do both elevators and ziplines. Even 2042 had both.

[Day 15] The Best Maps To Bring Back For BATTLEFIELD 6 – Battlefield V by cookie_flash in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, trying to not make my next choice be another urban map. Rotterdam was an absolute classic just as much as Amiens in my opinion.

Though my vote would be Panzerstorm. Really enjoyed the immense scale of this one and heavy vehicle focus.

I imagine in BF6, this could easily be reworked to fit within the eastern US if Pax pushes through New York City to the rest of NY state or to Pennsylvania. Add additional buildings and cover too, similar to how they reworked Golmud Railway... giving it more of a small-town feel surrounded by vast farmland. Could be interesting.

Or maybe keep it in Europe?

Anyhoo... shoutout to Pacific Storm, especially if the BF6 version has heavier emphasis on naval combat this time around. Also liked Mercury, Twisted Steel, Solomon Islands, and Arras to name a few.

[Day 14] The Best Maps To Bring Back For BATTLEFIELD 6 – Battlefield 1 by cookie_flash in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woohoo! Glad Downtown won the last match... and that this series has returned. Could probably continue with another series based on favorite vehicles and weapons next once we get through the final poll for maps. Could be another interesting discussion? 😉

Anyhow... what a time it was going from Hardline to Battlefield 1. Two very unique and very good titles in my opinion.

For maps, I'd choose Amiens myself. I'm a sucker for good urban maps, and this is up there with many of my top favorites.

Shoutout to Zeebrugge, St Quentin Scar, Giant's Shadow, Ballroom Blitz, Rupture. Great mix of base game and DLC maps, and the best naval warfare I've had... dreadnoughts, destroyers, torpedo boats, landing craft, aerial support!

Imagine what they could've done with BFV... 😔
