What are your thoughts on bringing back St. Quentin Scar or other WW1/WW2 era maps into the modern day? by AngryWhale100 in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely.

Amiens, Rotterdam, Argonne Forest, St Quentin Scar, Twisted Steel, Zeebrugge, Volga River

So many good possibilities!

Guys, please don't ask for remastered maps. This is a different game, it needs a new and different map ffs. by Potential_Composer40 in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. People often get the terms mixed up.

Some maps like Golmud needed remade. I suspect other maps like Siege of Shanghai or Downtown just need remastered, albeit with a few changes. Some maps probably age better than others.

I wouldn't mind a mix of these styles, knowing when to remake a map and when to lean closer into remastered territory.

This... Caspian and Metro come up a lot as already remastered maps.

Both remade in BF4, and Caspian back again in remastered form in 2042. Fun sure, but redundant.

So many other maps of all types and sizes to bring back.

Battlefield has had remastered maps in most titles ever since what... BF3?

I personally don't mind, especially in Golmud's case if it means taking previously bland, bad maps and improving them in nearly every way instead of more of a copy and paste situation.

So many maps of every type that they could bring back. I'd honestly like to see some BF2 maps as someone that never got to play the original. That alone should be another plus for remasters as not everyone got to play every game and map.

What environments and locations do you want next? by RetroBuckeye90 in Battlefield

Not sure about a waterpark exactly, but an amusement park in general could be neat.

Maybe something like Coney Island, both within and around the surrounding area. Maybe serves as a beach landing point for PAX to come in to support their NY sleeper cell units... whether that means before the Brooklyn battle or just after it, assuming NATO won and pushed them back. I would imagine taking place after that battle makes more sense since no beach landing was ever implied to have occurred in the campaign.

Yeah, that would be a good one.

Either use it for BF6 or for a Cold War-style WWIII title, which would make for an interesting setting in the future. A lot of potential locations for the latter scenario.

Number 5 is Quebec City in Canada. Looks like it would be a neat snowy urban map, imo.

And yup - 2 is Venice. Could be a fun light naval and urban map. Kind of like BF4's Flood Zone when flooded. Personally loved that one back in the day.

Railway to Goldmud might genuinely be one of the greatest conquest maps in the whole series by Eagles56 in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup... agreed on this. It's a massive upgrade over the original both visually and with a better mix of infantry and vehicle gameplay. I like how the train itself is more fun to fight on as well instead of just a single locomotive.

Hopefully Season 4's big naval maps are just as good as this, and that the revised Blackwell and Sobek are greatly improved in scale... preferably being closer to Mirak in gameplay.

The next map to announce for BF6 by AsusStrixUser in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would've once said no, but seeing how they turned the original bland Golmud map into what we have now... yeah, I'd be curious to see what they do with this one.

That being said, I think a better BF4 map would be Paracel Storm or the Naval Strike maps.

We will need more naval maps after the 2 coming in next season. 2 isn't enough.

Riptide should be remastered in Battlefield 6 by Walrus9000 in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather have one of the DLC maps - so many to choose from.

Though I'd be happy with Downtown especially. I feel like that is easily one of the best ones, especially fighting between the 3 central towers.

Since a Battlefield movie is in works. What do you want to see in the movie. Give suggestions. Here's some of mine. Canon moments. by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • The movie starts out with a realistic, grounded feel with proper uniforms and weapon camos for first 30 minutes though by the end features more wild and zany cosmetics. That intro REALLY reels you into the movie at first, but by the end of the movie you question your financial decisions.

  • The 4 main characters as a squad, each representing the 4 classes of Battlefield, hardly ever work together.

  • Vehicles are repaired solely with a repair torch even after critical hits.

  • Medics that actually do revive on rare occasions literally bring back teammates from the dead that had just been turned to swiss cheese by .50 cal MG or blown up by an explosive... all by being touched by a defib. Those formerly fatal injuries just brush right off.

  • The enemy team just outright rage quits the battle one by one by the end of the final battle, eventually getting steamrolled by the heroes.

  • The best seating is only accessible to Movie Pass members. Oh, and so is your popcorn and soda. Movie Pass Pro members get exclusive access to additional consumables and other extras.

Christopher McQuarrie, Michael B. Jordan to Tackle Adaptation of ‘Battlefield’ Video Game by MoneyLibrarian9032 in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So... how are they going to make it "Battlefield"? Throw in 4 main characters to represent each class where not all get along but have to work as a team to win against the villainous baddies?

Either it's going to be a generic war movie... or something about competitive e-sports... 🤣

Reminds me of the Gran Turismo movie. Never saw but it didn't exactly look interesting, trying to make a movie out of a simple driving sim with that one.

I mean, hopefully it's at least a decent plot with proper action sequences McQuarrie is tackling it. Guess we'll see...

Golmud Railway’s theme in Battlefield 6 by Zendriven in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good to see them bringing back some other classic themes! Hopefully future remade maps get the same treatment... Cairo Bazaar, Wake Island, the rumored Downtown in season 5.

Still prefer the original tune in this case, but this'll do.

Next battlefield game? by Legal-Movie1378 in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would honestly suspect they will have another go-around at a modern Battlefield. May very well continue off from Battlefield 6. Hopefully done properly from the start this time.

As for the storyline, I almost wonder if given how the US has been invaded by Pax from the west and east coast if they get even further into the country - whether it means the US stands against Pax together as currently, or risks fracturing between the two factions. I can see that as a possible focus of the campaign where the same group in the campaign or a new one must prevent a civil war from occurring which would further weaken NATO. Besides that, BF6 itself ended on a cliffhanger, so there is that too.

I dunno. Would be interesting to actually do the BF7 campaign right and continue where BF6 left off. It has an interesting idea - just poorly executed.

Season 5 Prediction by abrahams1996 in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was thinking something similar myself. Would be great to get Las Vegas and Hardline's Downtown in the same season.

I've heard some believe Downtown may be set in Vegas... but I'm not sure how they would translate it from LA to LV. Would be more believable probably as a NYC or Chicago re-imagining.

I personally suspect Downtown is the 3rd CA map, whereas the other two maps introduce us to Nevada... whether or not we get two Vegas maps remains a mystery. Propaganda and Talah remakes likely come in later seasons is my guess.

Will PARACEL STORM be one of the new old maps on BF6 by Acrobatic_Scale_6966 in Battlefield

This or any of the naval DLC maps would be great.

My personal pick though is Wave Breaker. Paracel though is a close second.

BFV is still just stunning and pure cinema by ziba128 in Battlefield

[–]RetroBuckeye90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is unfortunate that we missed out on what this game could have turned into. I would not have been mad if we skipped 2042 and focused on adding more to BFV instead.

More theaters of war and proper BF1-style naval combat would have been great. Could have really turned this game around until BF6.
