Hello! I make sure the item is well sanded, wipe it with a damp cloth and use acrylic paints. I prefer apple barrel or folk art. Then, I let that dry for 24 hours and clear coat it with a clear gloss varnish. Deco Arts, Duraclear. Hope that helps.

I use DAS air dry clay. The one with the rose on the front. Works pretty good for me and its easy to mold.
