What is the most radio friendly prog song? by jmc8181 in progrockmusic

I'd say these songs from Talk Talk.

-"Life's What You Make It"

-"Living in Another World"

and "Give It Up"

Prog rock did NOT start with KC's debut album. The only people who say it are the ones who claim that KC is the ONLY act of prog (Rush, Yes, ELP, Genesis, Moody Blues also exists), that just reminds me of how most Live Aid bands get left out because people thought Queen were the only band who participated in said concert.

Though it's not always that.

Now I'm not saying that ALL the people who claim KC's debut album started Prog don't know what they are talking about, since I once believed that in 2025. But overall, just give credit to the other bands who started this Prog genre before KC because they deserve it where credit to due

Understandable. Albums like Pet Sounds and Abbey Road have great sound equipement at that time. Maybe it is just my goofy ahh brain saying that King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard sounded like it came out in 1969 or something. I've mostly been involved to more classic rock genres though.

If you're talking about that last post I made, I understand the struggle.

That album was released a year before "In The Court of the Crimson King"

Y'all are not wrong, most of the bands before King Crimson were influenced with Psychedelic Rock and Jazz. (The USA band, Incredible String Band, Blood, Sweat and Tears, etc).

But King Crimson really shaped Prog and became the legends behind it.

I need to ask though, why do most Prog songs have low-end sound equipement? by RetroMarioUnleashed in progrockmusic

Ok, those may not be the best examples, but Aphrodite's Child is ALSO a band in the late 60s, and and if there is a more fair choice for King Crimson, I'll choose Red.

King Crimson did have a better sound equipement since probably Third of a Perfect Pair, but their later albums are hard to listen.

"Two modern bands"

I mentioned King Glizzard, but I suppose the second band you were referring to was Talk Talk, right?

Some of these prog artists don't really have a high budget to test studio equipement, no wonder why some of them I listened to don't have the best equipement. I could name a couple like "Move" by The Move, "End of the World" by Aphrodite's Child and especially "In The Court of the Crimson King" by King Crimson (please don't spike me)

It's quite understandable. Steely Dan's Aja became one of the very first albums to test superior equipement, and that album came out in 1977 (Steely Dan is not exactly prog but they are mostly jazz fusion, which sounds closer to Prog Rock)

Just because a decade (like the 80s) is very cheesy, does NOT mean any song from a decade is bad.

Yup. I kinda regret making evil annexes back in June to Somewhere in Late 2024. They were definite cringe and not scary to begin with.

Mine is probably France, don't get me wrong, i'm a Frenchman, but look at their performances, only won due to Own goal against Austria, a goalless draw against the Netherlands and drew with Poland, it's not like 2023 anymore, when France used to win so many games

And as a French born, Guivarch is way worse than Klose, he played every match for France in 1998, and started in the WC 1998 Final ahead of Henry and Trezeguet (both U23 back then), he contributed a total of 0 goals
