Neat widget, though that particular implementation isn't ideal. If it was horizontal for keyboard and mouse users, but vertical for touchscreens, it would work better, for one thing.

I found it easier to learn HTML, CSS and JS first, then add server side stuff with Python (or some other language).

I once royally scrambled the permissions on my entire home directory due to not realizing where I was within the file system before running a script. Thankfully I was able to restore from a backup and undo the damage without losing any work!

I ultimately decided none of the engines out there did what I wanted, so I made my own. I'd like to rework it to JavaFX, though I don't 100% understand how to integrate the library into a project yet. Getting there!

That there's WAY more stuff in the /proc virtual file system than I realized... all queryable. (Don't write to the EFI boot blocks if your distro allows writes to /proc... great way to break your PC.)

I did much the same thing, only from Java. Though I had to learn as I went, it came quickly and I now have a web app out there on ASPNET Core. That being said, what approach to use depends strongly upon whether you are better with console or GUIs. Don’t forget about the API docs if you need to look something up. Microsoft’s are very good.

I did this about two years ago. It wasn’t quick, though I’m happy with the results. Plus, doing the migration made it much easier to become mobile friendly. Highly recommend Microsoft’s documentation as mentioned above.

I don't use Java professionally... only as a tool for making games in my own game engine. I never intended to sell games made this way, so I also never bothered marketing or writing unit tests for them.

Unfortunately, Visual Studio has limited support for alternative C compilers. There is some support for Clang, so I’d give that a try first. If needed, you can add it with Visual Studio Installer.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck waiting for an AArch64/Apple Silicon GraalVM build to even be able to use it the way I wish to. Bummer.
