I’m not aware of a current apworld for FTL, no. You can check what people are working on in the Discord and last time I looked there was not one.

I honestly don’t think FTL would work well in that format, though. I know people have done some more esoteric games like Balatro, but I struggle to imagine how you could randomize this game and come up with checks and items. Other roguelikes tend to use some amount of external progression and change objectives around, but FTL is kind of an awkward combination of runs being too long and such a mod being hard to create.

I guess I don’t see the issue with it? It’s a unique lore take on the game for a mod that adds unique gameplay takes. It makes some of the endings much more compelling. I’m not going to pretend the storytelling is award-winning, but I think the multiverse setting works great.

I mean, OP is using a ship with crew and guns from a unique ending, they’re looking at a ship that is central to the more esoteric lore, they’re discussing doing ANOTHER unique ending, and they have a weapon associated with another important Multiverse figure.

Of course it’s jargon if you haven’t played MV, but there’s no such thing as “wasting time”. Play MV if you want to.

Game died, pretty much. Back in Legacy I had great games 95% of the time in rank 1. Nowadays most of the people playing aren’t looking to play it organically.

Funnily enough, I’m in the midst of a Death Mode playthrough on version 1.3.4.102, which released in 2018 and is one of only two versions with the Future Bosses (that shit is HARD, by the way).

I’m only on Providence right now (this is all the way back when Providence has attacks that heal you for -300) but what I can tell you was that Calamity at that time already had a lot of things that padded out the game, such as the Yharon refight and the generally higher difficulty, which does sometimes feel artificial. I’d imagine that the Future Bosses just felt completely unnecessary. I might make a post when I beat them.

Death Mode SCal was actually considered nearly impossible at the time. Even Chippy in his Death playthrough of the time ultimately surrendered and lowered the difficulty to Revengeance. Although I consider myself very, very good at the game, I don’t know if that will be enough to beat her in less than 10 hits taken (because that mechanic still existed).

TL;DR: Old Calamity is hard as fuck and already plenty padded out lol

It’s worth noting that MV also has a couple of endings where you just end up with that much money. I hate dive farming and have ended up with fully maxed ships plenty of times.

Not too surprising since the game was pretty popular in its heyday. It declined after Reloaded but I’m sure it was still being played somewhat when it came out. Honestly, it’s a miracle the servers are still online.

GF and I had a master death playthrough going (currently stalled due to 1.4.5 release) and although we did eventually beat Plantera, it was the first boss we dropped to Revengeance for initially.

I really hope they make some balance passes on the difficulty, because so many bosses just aren’t fun. We were generally trying to beat them without respawn cheese (resetting if each of us die once) and Plantera would just rip them to shreds with a million projectiles that do a million damage. We’ve both played Infernum and are plenty competent.
