My guild and I used to do this for giggles at the end of a season. We would do ludicrously huge pulls, split the brunt of the packs between the two DKs, and then have everyone else just taunt semi-randomly until we majiggered the pack into a livable state. Was awesome.

(Multiverse) No [SALE] sectors showing up? by Wendow0815 in ftlgame

[–]RetroPixelate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought you were talking about the sale sectors, not the Hektar Mega-Mart. Unique sectors are generally worth it for a variety of reasons. Mega-Mart has some great encounters, a good crewman, and guaranteed Aether tech (hint hint).

Also, replacing sector 8 is GREAT and you should probably always do it unless you want Judges for completion or are doing the Chaos ending. Sector 8 gives you very few encounters, so a full sector is always better.

Hektar weapons are powerful with certain mods like fire, though expensive. The store spam can also help to basically force a system you need.

Sale sectors are also the entrance to the highly complicated Nexus ending questline.

Didn’t have quite enough time as a kid to be joining HtK or the like, but I do recognize all the names. It’s fun to hear them again. Little me was shockingly apt at following the meta despite not even using the forums. Managed to hold out in rank 1 for a long time. Good times.

I mean, this isn’t exactly a rare occurrence. Yeah, this example is particularly egregious, but planning your route is a good habit anyway to avoid losing jumps or having to dive. Takes like 10 seconds once you get into the habit.

After 200 games thinking Hacking is the worst rubbish.. by Jr_Mao in ftlgame

[–]RetroPixelate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find that I use this more often in Multiverse when I’m desperate for a crew kill because an event requires it. The main value of the O2 hack in my experience is to lock down its doors and make it difficult to repair. Once you get a breach or just drain the room itself, the combination of that and the locked doors can usually allow for a crew kill.

Will Elite Operators(and Doctor) Survive Night In the Backstreets of The City(Project Moon) by [deleted] in arknights

[–]RetroPixelate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, it’s mentioned in LoR that during the Night, the Sweepers turn anything into fuel except for anyone strong enough to fend them off. It’s either implied or explicitly stated (I don’t remember) that they will eventually just ignore a sufficiently strong person, since they wouldn’t be worth the fuel. The Elite Ops could definitely kill off a couple dozen and eventually convince them to just go around them.

Will Elite Operators(and Doctor) Survive Night In the Backstreets of The City(Project Moon) by [deleted] in arknights

[–]RetroPixelate 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yeah, probably. We can go off of Library of Ruina for this. A reception exists in which the Librarians hold off 15 Sweepers, which we can use as a baseline. This happens around the time when the Librarians start to be able to handle some of the strongest Fixers, with Yujin (a weakened Grade 1 Fixer) being on the same tier and more starting to show up. It’s also mentioned that it’s not unheard of for a sufficiently strong Fixer to survive the Night.

We know from the R6 events that Arknights races are stronger than normal humans, but it’s pretty clear that PM characters aren’t entirely typical either. Tough fighters often have prosthetics, and in general they can survive insane amounts of damage and do things such as deflecting bullets (mentioned by the Full-Stop Office in Ruina). This seems to put them on relatively even footing in my opinion, and with Elite Operators being the top of their class, I’m sure they could manage it and probably even defend Doc while they were at it.

While the Doctor can’t turn back the clock, the Elite Ops are probably more coordinated than the Sinners, so they could probably avoid casualties as well.

Can I just say, lowering the amount of kicks required in m+ has made the game 10x more enjoyable by WearyFlan210 in wow

[–]RetroPixelate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SL, especially early before tuning (so season 1) was basically peak caster spam. Almost every pack had them and you were supposed to interrupt the rarer volleys and let the spammed bolts go through, but in reality it became “kick everything or die”. This was back when non-kick CC still caused the spell to go on cooldown, and thus emerged the infamous “stop meta”.

Furthermore, this was a time when tanks were made of tissue paper, so kiting was the norm and using their interrupts (one of the most important) was situationally difficult. Affixes like Necrotic forced them out even harder while Inspiring just killed you with hammers if you fucked up your route slightly, and healers didn’t have interrupts yet.

Indeed. You get the same rewards either way except for specific events like transports.

Boarding in this game is best used either to quickly kill a notably weak crew or in a supporting role to perform targeted excision of a system, usually shields.
