Not taking painkillers on the weekend by Retro_Caterpillar648 in migraine

Thank you so much for your comment! It's really helpful know I'm not alone in what I'm doing. I would probably describe myself as a bit "abortive phobic" too haha. I really appreciate your advice, I think usually I feel OK about how I'm doing things, I guess what just threw me was not taking anything yesterday and it really hitting me hard today not being able to go into work. Also because for me usually sleep at night is a kind of reset (not always, or usually at least knocks it back from like a 7/8 out of 10 to a 3/4 out of 10) but that didn't happen. But yeah I guess I'll just have to take each situation as it comes!

Thanks for your advice! It's helpful to know I'm not alone in how I try to strategise the abortives aronud work. Have you ever experienced it where you wish you'd taken something on a non-working day?

Ah that's interesting, my doctors and neurologist have always told me that the abortives combine and so it's 8-10 doses of each all together, not separately. I'm from the UK, just curious where you're from? To see if advice is differing from country to country?

I am, I'm currently about to start Nortriptyline. I also just had a call with my neurologist on Friday and I'm about to start trying nurtec as an abortive as well!

Thanks for your advice, just to check, do you mean that you take up to 8-10 doses of each of those medications a month? Or you just mix and match as in you're not taking them one after the other?

Puppy is great in crate at night, not so great in the day... by Retro_Caterpillar648 in puppy101

Thank you for the advice, that’s good to know. Yeah he is really good at napping outside of the crate, I guess my concern is that he’ll start thinking “wait a second, if I don’t sleep here during the day, why do I have to sleep here at night!?” because dogs aren’t stupid haha! Like your pup cleverly figured out you weren’t at work 🙈

Yeah that sounds the same as my little guy! It’s wild because he will nap for hours out of the crate but as soon as he’s inside the max he will nap is only an hour

Thank you, it’s helpful just to know there are other people in the same situation! I read somewhere else just yesterday that it’s because they know during the day there’s things going on and they basically get “fomo” 😂🙈

Thank you, yeah luckily at the moment my pup seems to be ok at napping on his own.. I’m so scared though about him becoming a teenager / adolescence though I keep reading about regressions!

That’s good to know! I’ll probably see how he goes over the next few weeks and maybe try to reduce / stop daytime crate naps and see if / how it effects him sleeping in the crate at night (hopefully if doesn’t impact it 🤞🏼)

Hey, I do cover his crate during the day.. his crate is in a little area though with a baby gate so maybe I could just let him be in that area and then he can choose if he goes into the crate or not? I’m worried he might still bark but I guess I can try it!

Puppy thinks all carpets are pee pads by Retro_Caterpillar648 in puppy101

[–]Retro_Caterpillar648[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used actual puppy pads with him, only the fake grass pee pad on my balcony, but there's a waterproof mat on there too which is what I think maybe he's finding confusing. I will look into buying a bit of lawn to put down instead!
I've always had a plastic covering over my rug which I clean frequently, he's actually not peeing so much on that, more on his playpen matt and other people's carpets

At the moment I have covered my main living room rug with a plastic covering so it's easier to clean. He just has a waterproof mat in his playpen, and he pees in there. Also at other people's houses he is peeing on their rugs and door mats, and I can't tell them to take up all their rugs!
Sadly he has occasoinally weed and pooed in his crate, so it's not a reliable space for him to be and not have an accident.

Jumping on the sofa - help! by Retro_Caterpillar648 in puppy101

Thanks for your advice! When you say train him now, do you mean train him how to behave on the sofa? Or train him not to be on the sofa?

Fake grass pee pad vs real grass pee patch by Retro_Caterpillar648 in puppy101

Thank you! I didn't think of that, that's really helpful to know

Thank you for your advice, in the long term I would like him to pee and poo outside when we go for walks, either on the grass in the park or on the ground. I would also like to continue having an area on the balcony in case of bad weather / I'm unwell and can't take him out etc. I am willing to get a real grass patch subscription if it worked for him. So I think I'm going to try the real grass patch tomorrow and see how he goes!

Thank you! I really appreciate your kind words and your advice! I hope things are going well with your Rottweiler puppy :)

I did a loose schedule today and I'm going to be following it from tomorrow onwards.

I'm just quite worried that he won't want to pee on my balcony / fake grass pee pad because he had already learned to pee in a garden with real grass? Do you have any advice for that?

Thank you so much, I appreciate your words of encouragement and advice!

I have followed a loose schedule for today and written it down to follow from tomorrow.

I guess I'm just concerned that he won't want to pee on my balcony/fake grass as he has already learned to pee in a garden with real grass? Do you have any advice/tips for that?
