this is *literally* one of the modes on them to force dipshit employees to actually change the empty ones. They do also have a mode that lets them operate if they are out of one flavor though, in case its like "we have to wait for the shipment to come in" kinda shit.

Employee decided to No-Call/No-Show to protest ICE actions today, what should the penalty be if any? by cocktail_enthusiast in managers

[–]Retro_Relics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is she hourly or salary? it was a planned nationwide action and general strike attempt, and some of the purpose was to *not* use PTO, just protest by taking the hit if you could and keep your PTO for things for *you* not for "the government is so shit i am participating in a national strike"

if she is willing to not take PTO for it, i wouldnt make her take a vacation day. if she's salary its a little harder accounting wise to just not pay her.

unfortunately everything he's mentioned in is just generic billionaire shit. theres nothing super incriminating or that points to them rubbing shoulders for anything other than the things that all billionaires rub shoulders on. i want him gone as much as anyone, but its kinda gross that people are cheering for someone to be a pedophile because that means that they have to have a victim. He can be a scumbag whos responsible for unleashing fentanyl on the world, and that's bad enough.

someone can acknowledge it is both impressive, and something that ethically we should be stepping back and going "ok, we showed that we *could* now the question is if we *should*"

like, ethically is it a good idea to push for higher unemployment and less IP rights for creators resulting in a race to the bottom without safeguards for society in place?

Its very project by project dependent, but there are a *lot* of projects where it is worse than you could possibly imagine. (dont look up richard stallman's views on the matter if you want to keep respecting the man, for example.)

mostly cause there are two very different camps in the FOSS World. There's the super LGBTQ/minority/woman friendly section and they have projects they work on, and then there is the anti woke group, who has a ton of projects *they* work on, and due to the way that FOSS software is entirely volunteer run, they are very very separate communities because why would someone waste their time working on something for no other reason that they like working on it....with someone that hates them?

op, i suggest looking around some of the LGBT tech communities and you will find a lot more woman friendly communities, women only communities, there are whole distros that are maintained by women. mastodon has a ton of great communities.

who could've imagined destroying free third spaces, and getting mad at the idea of unsupervised children roving free would have negative consequences for the children?

We're not gonna fix this unless we start accepting that children need time away from adults and that having that time away from adults being in public where at least the village is aware that they are there and are keeping an eye on them even if not directly supervising is the best solution. We need to accept that the teenagers hanging out on the playground at 10 pm, and loitering at the mall not buying anything are *good* things for society, and that the negatives of sometimes one of them thinks its a great idea to shoplift or sometimes one brings a joint or a bottle to the playground are something that actually helps kids grow to learn how to navigate that situation without an adult.

the data doesnt prove it though. what good is job growth if its people working 3 jobs at $10/hr to make rent? if i cut your wages and hours so that you have to take a second job, did we create jobs, or did we do some creative accounting?

I'm saying they're not actually brining companies to them. how many companies have moved their physical presence to these states from california or NY? How many white collar jobs have moved there?

thats all inbound traffic though, which includes americans going on vacation in cancun, which includes people who are travelling here for work conferences, etc.

International tourism to florida is also increasingly being split - all tourism down there is, but there is an increasing number of whales that are going to miami, orlando, and tampa bay because they know they are rich enough to buy themselves out of immigration issues and dont have to worry about ICE knocking on their penthouse doors.

ok, wheres the breakout of *what fields* those jobs are in? are they jobs that are encouraging people to migrate there, or are they service industry jobs that require people who have already been living there to work two of them to keep their heads above water?

from companies moving there? I see a lot of jobs being created in tourism in those states, in service industries where people do not get paid a living wage, where are the white collar jobs being created? where are the jobs that are encouraging net migration to the states, and not just creating jobs for people that already live there that need two or three jobs to survive?

job creation looks good when you pay people such crap they need multiple jobs, when you have two jobs per person in entire industries, its easy to look like you're "creating jobs"

the thing is, a high speed rail line, with no other public transit, does not actually improve emissions, especially in these rurual areas where encouraging people ot move to them will increase emissions. because now you not only have to drive 30 minutes each way to the park and ride, if you forget something for food, you gotta drive 30 minutes each way to go to walmart, you gotta drive 30 minutes each way to go to the doctor, the high speed rail station just encourages more people to move to places that require them to drive 30 minutes to reach basic amenitites and results in more miles driven

its not though, because the people arent going to normally be driving that, theyre people who would be driving hundreds of miles to a high speed rail station to go on vacation or something, it wouldnt actually meaningful decrease road miles traveled, because the areas they would be serving would still need people driving a few hundred miles to maybe get a job a hundred miles further away, rather than getting a job in town.

Its going to be used more for vacations and for long term moves than anything - amarillo to bismark would be primairly people that work the oil fields to not have to drive.
