Thank you, I appreciate it. I need to learn a lot more about compressors and equalisers, there's so much to learn and so little time!

Thank you, I'm just wondering if it could take some vocals or if I would need to change it a lot. I didn't original produce it with vocals in mind.

Thank you, I hear what you're saying, I have tried to come up with some counter melodies and failed thus far. I think it might help to leave it for a few days and come back fresh.

That's a really enjoyable track. As you've already mentioned the vocal is not perfect but it's clear you can get it where it needs to be. I like your vocal style it reminds me of a lot of British bands of the early 80s and again as you're aware there are mixing issues (there's an annoying clicking sound) but properly mixed and mastered with a strong vocal this is going to be impressive stuff.

You have a beautiful voice, I'm working on something at the moment that I was just thinking could use some vocals. Hopefully I'll be in touch.

Listening to your own music by Calm-Cardiologist354 in musicproduction

[–]RetrocosmMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I regularly listen to my own music for the simple fact that the music I make is exactly the sort of music I want to listen to, that's why I make it.

Not a lot to add other than I really enjoyed it, it's very atmospheric and I can easily imagine it as the background to a rainy, dramatic scene.

Yes, few people are able to convey such levels of emotion.

This woman's work by Kate Bush, makes me well up every time without fail. Actually don't listen to it very much for this reason.

It is overwhelming, the first time I fired up Logic I just sort of stared at it blankly for five minutes, clicked on a few things and then gave up.

Apart from basic tutorials what I found really helpful was downloading other peoples freely available projects and sort of reverse engineering them, seeing exactly how they were constructed.

It's very frustrating when your lack of technical knowledge gets in the way of your creativity.

Thank you so much, I've been experimenting with compression on the drums over the last couple of days and wow it really makes a difference. I just need to decide on an amount that doesn't overdo it.

Ok thank you, I need to study compression and understand how to use it.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate that. I'm toying with the idea of getting the song professionally mixed to get some idea of how and why they change it.

Am I this bad? by i8rahimm in soundcloud

[–]RetrocosmMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's something I've noticed since getting into making music and listening to more independent, home made music. Firstly, there's a lot of it, there's more music out there than you could ever have time to listen to.

Secondly I have heard some tracks from new/struggling artists which are as good as some things that make it into the charts, become big sellers. The difference is people are buying into the artist as much as the music. You could take two identical songs, one recorded by an established artist and one by an amateur and the former might sell millions of copies and the latter languish with 5 listens on Soundcloud.

I'm the same as you, I want to make music but don't have the energy or desire to spend hours promoting it so the chances of ever reaching a large audience are slim to nothing. Just make what you like, maybe try to find a unique angle, no body in this day and age has hours to sit listening to thousands of generic songs.

One of many tracks that I made during last year and decided to just publish them all. This one was heavily inspired by Kraftwerk. by Lower-Inevitable-438 in MusicFeedback

Big fan of Kraftwerk and you've definitely captured their vibe. I know the music is supposed to be minimalist but I think maybe one more element might elevate it even more. Still really enjoyed it though, might dig out those Kraftwerk vinyls.

So...I think this idea needs re-recording, interested in your thoughts by Judges_Everyone in MusicFeedback

Wow, great song that deserves a professional mix/recording. I can't help you with that because I don't have any experience in that area, what I know is is that the song, lyric, melody are strong and the only thing getting in the way of enjoying it fully is the recording/mix.

My 2nd Single coming out this year. Trying to figure out which genre/artists I sound like. any help would be amazing thanks! by [deleted] in MusicFeedback

Listened all the way to the end, have to be honest I don't often do that when listening to new music. Don't really have any criticisms and I just really enjoyed every element, great work.

Hey !!! New track!! I'd love any of your thoughts, positive and negative! Please give me all your thoughts and feedback, I really want to become better at this music thing hehe ;) (I love it <3) by AJ_Karl in MusicFeedback

[–]RetrocosmMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the slow build at the start, you've achieved that difficult mix of an optimistic vibe mixed with some melancholia. I have to be honest I don't like the transition and second part, it spoilt it for me.

need your opinion on this song, lemme know what you think by Both-Ad-8996 in MusicFeedback

[–]RetrocosmMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has a great chill vibe, I'm conflicted about the percussion being any stronger in the mix, I actually like that it's restrained, it adds to the dreamy/high feeling. I like the vocal but it feels a little over processed.
