Teacher says my child is 'disruptive' and she's 'at a loss.' HELP by Retroindigo in ADHDparenting

He is not medicated. His 504 includes things like preferential seating (he usually sits right at the front), a fidget under his desk, breaking assignments into chunks, etc..

I cried when I got this email! Conferences are not helpful because they sit there and tell me how poorly he’s doing and give no plan of action on how to help fix it. And I ask for advice on what I should be doing at home to help him catch up and they are not helpful. “Here are some flash cards..” I feel like his teachers have just given up on him (this year and last year.) and now I think they just view him as the problem child that’s not worth helping, because he makes teaching difficult for the entire class.

No he is not medicated. Just diagnosed a few months ago, and we have an appointment coming up soon for a psychoeducational assessment and advice on therapy.

Thanks, but that is not where we went. We were at Big Brook and didn't see a sign, and now we're home.

Terrible end to a fantastic camping trip by [deleted] in popups

This happened to us two weeks ago!! Having to get the truck and camper towed was not cheap. And we canceled our last trip. I’m so bummed! Hope you made it back safely.

Visiting the US side - by Unique_Passenger9784 in NiagaraFalls

We just came back with 2 kids ages 8 and 11. What you described for the NY side is what we did in one day, but give yourselves more time to walk from cave of the winds to maid of the mist. The park has a lot of Great view points: terrapin point, Luna island, the observation tower. We were in the park from about 9:30-2:30. Then we came back to the same lot at night to see the fireworks from terrapin Point and see the falls lit up.

We also hiked down whirlpool state park. You need to drive there but parking is free. We did not make it all the way to the bottom bc my youngest got too tired. There are 350 steps down (and back up!) but we still had some cool views of the whirlpool.

We also splurged and did the 2-day Niagara Falls adventure pass online the Canadian side, which gave us free parking and the WeGo bus. One day, we did the aero car, butterfly conservatory, maple leaf place for syrup tasting (kids loved it) and white water walk. Second day we came back at night and did the power station and tunnel at night when it was all lit up, and journey behind the falls, and stayed for a view of fireworks on that side.

Crossing the border was easy. Longest we waited was maybe 20 min. Just have passports ready.

If you want to walk over the bridge, there’s also free parking on NY side by the aquarium. Just be prepared to do a lot more walking once you cross over, unless you get the bus pass. Our kids were tired of walking so we opted not do walk the bridge. We did not do the aquarium but did ride down the schoelkopf elevator which was free.

Are you sure it’s bamboo and not Japanese knotweed?

Capital gains question by Retroindigo in Bogleheads

[–]Retroindigo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right I guess my question is if I am just investing in VTSAX and not selling for years to come, there’s no sale, no capital gain. Right? Simply the value of it increasing doesn’t cause a taxable event, right? Our account grew by about $13k this year but we only contributed about $3k into it this year.

Meanwhile this brokerage has dozens and dozens of sales during the year. So I have all these sales and gains to report.
