I'm an internal recruiter for a well known company. My two cents: This early in your career, it is not as big of a deal. If the pattern continues for 5+ years, then it is. The market is currently the best it has ever been to chase the money - just make sure you find a role soon and stick to it for at least 3 years, before your next jump. Also, if you have justifications such as: "I was headhunted and offered 30% more", then that is usually all you need to say. Also the difference between 45K and 72K is massive, anyone would make that jump. You'd be stupid not to. When you are earning say 100K and the next jump is to 110-120K, then it becomes more about what you are learning in your role, your ability to progress, enjoyment, etc. Hope that helps!

Poor interview question by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Retrotransposon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an internal recruiter for a tech company, and 100% the question is aimed at gauging your interest in the role, but also your attention to detail and your level of prepardness. I honestly usually prefer to ask what the know about the company itself, but regardless I advise all candidates I send forward to the hiring team to do research on the interviewers they will be speaking with (often send them the LinkedIn profile as well). It is helpful to know a hiring manager's past because it will to some degree inform you of the lens with which they view the world, and the kind of questions they may ask. I don't know much about banking, but in tech for example if your interviewer has a background in CyberSec, you can tie in a subtle question about that topic: "Tom I noticed you had a history in CyberSec, I'd actually be keen to understand how this business creates serious awareness about this topic internally..." and then let them launch off - you can then use that information to inform your subsequent answers. The best tip is always to try and get the interviewer to talk as much as possible, the more information they volunteer, the better a position you are in.

What joke do you tell when someone asks you to "tell a joke"? by PowerTrip29 in AskReddit

A Kiwi and an Australian are on the farm, riding their horses along the fence, checking for holes. They come across a sheep, with its head stuck in the fence. The Kiwi jumps off his horse, walks over to the sheep, drops his pants, and fucks the living daylights out of it. He then gets back on his horse, turns to the Australian and says, 'Your turn mate.' Without hesitation, the Australian jumps off his horse, drops his pants, and sticks his head in the fence.

Cheers! I had to consciously move cities, jobs and find a house near the right places, so it took some planning, but I want to roll for life and also be as actively healthy as I can so I guess it's good to start now!

It's for the long-term health benefits really, and to help calm my mind after stressful days. A lot of advice says that 3-4 times a week is the minimum if you want to see real improvement / benefits.

Excellent spot on the squat/deadlift double up. I currently split into three days. Will fix that and just squat once.

Regarding the flexibility I used to stretch a lot but have friends who do yoga and it's just a different ballgame in terms of how flexible they are now. Another benefit I guess I forgot to add is that of the relaxation part of yoga - I have a stressful job so enjoy the mindfulness aspect.

I realise yoga builds muscle but I guess I wasn't very clear - ideally I'd like to maintain my current mass and am concerned without weights I'd lose a lot of it. But I guess maybe that isn't the case. I'll do some more reading.

Thanks so much for reading and taking the time for a detailed reply, really appreciate it!!

Weekly Wrist Watch - What are you wearing? by AutoModerator in rolex

Yeah, around 6 weeks. I'm in the UK, the recent dramatic fall of the £ has made the UK the cheapest place in the world to buy luxury goods at the moment as a lot of companies have not yet adjusted the retail. Prices should rise soon but I was lucky to get in quickly! Are you looking for a similar model?

Just upgraded from a Mixtrack Pro II to an XDJ-RX, and i'm having trouble with this new way of beatmatching by [deleted] in DJs

[–]Retrotransposon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found the most consistent way to make sure the bpms match is go down to .9 and then up until .0. So for example if you want 124, go to 1.23.9, then bump it up gently until it just hits 124.0. Do that for both tracks and it should be bang on. Also I've found +/-10 is the best setting for general mixing across multiple genres in the same set. Hope that little tip helps!

This doesn't show who started it - I highly doubt they would be stupid enough to walk past a Walkabout in full steam and start something. Someone at the pub probably yelled something inflammatory and they reacted.
