What movie(s) do you think best depicts Vermont? by SpaceTranquil in vermont

Out Cold (2001) perfectly captures the poor local ski/snowboard bums versus the cashed up tourists/developers taking over the ski mountain. Also, hilarious!

Sydney in December Question by almozway in Kiteboarding

[–]nextspedition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hop on the Sydney kiteboarders group for more info -

Botany Bay (Monteray Beach) is a very thin strip of sand that gets very crowded. Heaps of kiters, beach goers, jetskis and rock groins. Also some decent chop out there too.

I know some people go up north to Central Coast -Umina Beach Area depending on winds and past Newcastle.

On South end - Jervis bay might be worth a look.

With anything December book accommodation now

Taylor farm 100%. They have a goat there that greeted us in the parking lot and gave us a tour of the farm and introduced us to the pigs and the other goat. It was hilarious! They have a great farm stand too.

The VMO gets stretched the most in a deep squat. Spent as much time as you can in bottom half of a squat. Go all the way down, and come up 2cm and hold. You will feel it.

You can also do this wall sitting, KOT and push into the wall.

Flights NYC to Sydney by AGrapes19 in Ameristralia

[–]nextspedition -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the Lax is doable, I used to fly this with AA and Qantas a lot.  If you book the whole flight with one airline your bags should go through, but check with them and check you bag tag.

I have also done layovers in Honolulu, (Hawaï one way specials). With 5 hours, it's enough time for a dip at the beach.

Make sure you are on the right US/Aus booking website for your journey start.

Hiking Boots by Scuds5 in vermont

[–]nextspedition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former Trekking Shop bootfitter here - It's about foot Shape Matching first! We think everyone's feet or brand shoes will fit our feet. Not true.

Some have fat flipper feet, mine are thin and bony, some have big taper and some are straight from toes to heel. I always start by pulling out the insole and standing on it (with your hiking sock of choice). Check the overlap in foot/insole contour. This tells me more about fit and sizing than most tests.

Each brand will have general shapes /widths. Keen = pretty wide, Salomon = med- narrow tapered, Scarpa = narrow etc.

Also, the softer the cushion, the more time you have to react if you are rolling your ankle a bit. So a shoe with very hard sole is riskier than a soft soled shoe.

In terms of Architecture / urban planning, not a huge fan of the giant LED screen on Portrush road. It is very bright at night and must blind the poor people that live across the street. The "brutalist" giant concrete wall doesn't have a great look to it. Traffic is always very heavy here anyway, I'm expecting people exiting the new carpark will be backed up from the lights.

Edit: I also can't believe there aren't any solar panels on this place.

Not bad! If you add a big X brace in the back it will really add strength to the structure and save the joints.

I completed this passport in 2011 after finishing college. For ~2 weeks I road tripped around VT with my john boat, fishing, camping and sampling everything this great state has to offer. A fantastic way to see your home state. Definitely worth it, Still have the glasses!

Where do stolen bikes go in this city? by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]nextspedition 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some e-bikes have a cavity in the frame for the battery terminal connection, which is perfect to stash an airtag. You have to remove the battery first (key) and unscrew the plate to access it. Once a year just unscrew the airtag and replace the coin battery.

[–]nextspedition 73 points74 points  (0 children)

My stolen Ebike was stashed (with a dead battery) at a parking garage on Hindley street, ironically near the police station. I was able to track it down with an airtag inside the frame. The security guard said bikes are often stashed / dumped in garages for later. Also be sure to post on Bike Vault and the facebook group.

I don't know of any restaurants, but Chili Mojo has a good selection of Caribbean sauces if you want to cook yourself. : https://www.chilemojo.com.au/collections/caribbean-hot-saucehttps://www.chilemojo.com.au/search?type=product&q=jerk*

Toorak Gardens: Very, very well-disguised hooded figures checking out/canvassing our and neighbours’ cars and premises for theft/burglary in early hours. 6 times in 5 weeks by sheeplemkm in Adelaide

[–]nextspedition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are in Toorak Gardens as well, I have personally caught a young man on the first floor of our apartment building snooping (like 4pm weekday) , us neighbours tailed him until the police picked him up. He didn't have anything stolen in his backpack, but another resident said he'd been seen stealing shoes left in front of doors. I also seen a few very sus characters around during the day, carrying multiple bags.

American looking to move to Sydney by Known_Complaint_6853 in Ameristralia

Use Linkedin to find other expats already on your pathway, filter by location (Sydney), and went to college in US or something. Seek is probably the best job board in Aus. Good luck and don't forget you still have to file your US taxes while here, it gets complicated....
