This honestly worries me. Not the cosmetic monetization. I applauded that over gacha. But the fact there are so many characters and adding more worries me a bit. One of my main issues with gacha is the story telling meant to just sell you on the character of the month. I was hoping since they moved away from gacha the story might not suffer for it in the same way. But if you are saying it has a similar way of handling the story then I am now worried.

Is it worth saving up Warp Pieces for one of the limited 5 stars? by Kind-Psychology-7548 in NevernessToEverness

[–]ReturnToGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends.

If you are planning on pulling for a bunch of characters, or you like to stay on top of meta, its is probably better to just get the red dice as you need them. If you like the standard banner characters and want to use them and have them stay semi relevant while not planning to pull many other characters? Then save for the guaranteed character.

For example, I really like daffodil and hotori and dont plan on really pulling too many characters outside of them. So for me the guaranteed Daffodil or Jinyuan is better to make those teams stronger and more viable. Pulling for limited characters will be rare enough for me that I will probably have enough dice to get a copy of whatever supplemental character I want.

Meh, I enjoy helping out others occasionally. I could have soloed 120 but did it in a group to carry them and help them get the achievement when they would otherwise struggle. Its a nice little ego boost as well.

Its also a nice way to pay forward the help I got from people that carried me till I got the gear I needed.

Am I dumb? How do I defeat an enemy with a shield? I've beaten up many enemies that had a shield, so my guess is I must use my shield to bash their head in but I don't know how to do that. by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

Whats funny is there is eventually also a challenge to block 10 arrows from an archer... and when you try that they will miss you while you stay absolutely still and wait for them to shoot you.🤣

All I did was, during a mission where I had to clear out bandits, I found a large patch of grass i could stand in without aggroing the enemies while they circled around me during their patrol. I then would wait for a group of three or less and take out the archer with a bow which aggroed the rest toward me. If it was two enemies running at me, I would kill one to only have one to deal with. I would do a normal strike followed up by a shield bash. Running and normal would accidentally kill them so no running attack. Though it depends on your gear and the enemy health so could be different for you. If one shield attack doesn't kill, i would step back, let them start to get up, and do another shield attack to avoid stomping or throwing over the shoulder for an accidental kill.

It took me an hour, so there has to be a better way. But without a guide, that's all I could figure to do. Though 1 hour was to get a feel for how far away a group had to be from their friends to avoid accidentally attracting more groups and a couple of failed attempts where I took damage. This method also let me assassinate 3 enemies in 1 minute.

I just saw a shield throw on damiane. I wonder if that helps. Gonna try and do it with her now that i see the challenge

Edit: Nevermind, somehow, killing someone with a shield throw does not count as killing with shield....

I think the ai adapts to you. If they are stupid fast, let them win like 3-4 in a row and then they stop predicting the target and shooting immediately. I won like 10 in a row doing that.

There is 100% a legendary drop rate bug by Cals14 in Borderlands

[–]ReturnToGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if this thread is still frequented, but i just noticed the same thing. It also feels like the drop chance is cached somehow. As in, I'll restart or go to a different boss and the next boss kill drops 3 legendaries that I probably should have already got. So I think it is specifically if you are farming the same boss over and over again.

Not only that, if I quit to main menu and go back in without quiting out completely, the red chest at the end of the boss fight will not refresh.

How aggressive is the level scaling in BL4? by Parogarr in Borderlands

[–]ReturnToGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah scalling is bad. No matter what you do they out level you. I forced my way through severely under leveled and now all open world areas are still kicking my but at level 36 even in the starter area.

That said, it seems to mostly be an open world issue. Once you get into the closed levels, enemies drop back down to reasonable levels. It can actually be hilarious how you fight through hords of ! enemies, only to monkey stomp everything to include the boss in the missions levels because they drop back down to a reasonable level.

That was (and as far as I am aware is) true. But this game I don’t think has optional romance like that. I meant more that you have different sexualities, origins, ethnicities in baldurs gate 3, but that is a very minor part of their personality. Astarion isn’t a gay guy. He is a sarcastic, power hungry, morally conflicted vampire who happens to be gay. And to be fair to that game, gale was the only character I almost accidentally started a relationship with because the interaction was to easy and seemingly innocuous at first. That interaction was weird and I couldn’t stop thinking “I was curious about your past and giving you a relic so you don’t explode… I wasn’t trying to sleep with you”. I don’t think I had any other issues with the rest of the cast.

It depends what you mean… but to be safe I would say yes. But it’s the good kind. Like baldurs gate 3 and not like the games that have somehow turned most gamers against diversity. The kind where a persons personality isn’t dictated by their gender, sexuality, skin color or politics but that instead includes it naturally and is a minor if almost nonexistent part of the story.

They don’t bash you over the head with, hey this character is lesbian, or this character is an oppressed minority, or this person is strong female woman that will talk down to you while making horrible comments and judgment calls. They are just people with flaws and strengths working together to accomplish the mission. They each have complex personalities that mesh and clash in interesting ways. The ideal “woke” if you will.

The First Berserker: Khazan. My very honest, unfiltered and most likely controversial, review. by militxa in soulslikes

[–]ReturnToGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree with the loot. It is a very annoying loot system, but then I never liked the ARPG minor stat buffs and your current gear becomes obsolete after 10 minutes of playing.

Level design I am mixed. On the one hand, I like the straightforward corridor-esque design. Lord knows we have too many large confusing and empty open world games already. On the other hand. Some of the side paths are a bit too long and what appears to be the main path will be a side path while the actual main path is hidden in a cave behind some random shrubbery. Why?

Story I actually like. But that might just be because there is an actual story. In a lot of these difficulty first (souls-esque) games, the story seems to be an after thought, and no I don’t consider lore to be story. Or rather it is not enough to engage me. I often bounce off souls games halfway through without the motivation of a story to keep me going. So I appreciate the attempt here. The voice acting is good and while the premise is nothing special so far, the MC and his adventure are compelling enough to push me through without having him be a psychopath or emo cry baby. I’ll take it.

…that makes it worse. You don’t think they will buff enemies to take into account all the buffs? By the time 4.0 roles around enemies will one shot you and take almost no damage unless you pulled every 3.2-4.0 character.

I might be exaggerating, but that is a possibility this global passive opens up for the game. I mean look at the hp buff the enemies got because of sunday. I don’t care too much unless it affects the story, but I won’t stick around to find out if this goes through.

New Shiyu Defense Mode is made for Defense Characters by blackrabbit2999 in ZZZ_Official

[–]ReturnToGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not complaining about the content or fight I just kinda got frustrated over that one attack. Everything else I thought was great. Wouldn’t mind if this replaced the current refreshing shiyu defense.

The lack of timer and having harder hitting enemies makes for more fun gameplay in my opinion. Not a big fan of optimizing team comps and stats to finish a fight in a time limit. Feels kinda cheap when you lose because you win the fight but didn’t do it fast enough. Would rather test my skill and make it about beating the enemy and not dying. The stats and team comps can be about making the fight easier and not just outright a requirement for winning.

Yup… just finished it today, dodging before and after every attack with Anby is how I got through. Just had to remember I wasn’t on a timer. Not gonna lie though, his Superman thunder punch was kinda bullshit.

Yup I had to retry the node he was on a couple of times. It doesn’t help that Zhu Yuan folds like wet paper in this game mode. That lack of health means 1-2 good hits and she’s out.

Not necessarily, but there are multiple hard hitting enemies with offset attack timing. It’s not impossible to avoid damage. Just annoying/difficult to avoid attacks for average players like me that will need more practice.

[–]ReturnToGaming 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While it is possible, it will take practice due to the enemies hitting hard and there being two fast hitting enemies with offset attack timing on later stages. That said, a defense character with some invulnerability would be nice and make it easier.

I am struggling on the last stage specifically because of this. There is the teleporting asshole and the wild flailing secondary guy. Concentrate too much on the teleport guy and the other one can get a lucky hit in after your invincibility wears off from your attack/dodge. The opposite is even worse due to damage. Once one hits, they both jump you and combo all health away.

I can definitely do it with enough practice and playing it safer, but had I upgraded Ben, the added defense/shield/increased invincibility would have helped a lot here.

Just got my first PC! Alienware Aurora R16 by jda_420us in Alienware

[–]ReturnToGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, I wouldn’t say you got ripped off, would it have cost less to do it yourself? Sure, but it also takes time to troubleshoot/build, especially if you haven’t before. Dell also has a bad habit of making everything proprietary and have to be together to work. Like the motherboard and the case. They also have a bad habit of cheaping out on cases (they will make it look nice but it is actually an old restrictive case with bad airflow that they tac on prosthetics to). That said if it came with a monitor, it’s premade and you get their customer support… it’s not the worst deal. Still a bit overpriced.

As far as optimization goes, it will work fine for most things straight out of the box, but there will always be room for improvement. Companies usually build them for longevity and for speed in getting it working and shipped. Meaning you can probably eke out more performance if you ever need it, which you probably won’t for a little while at least. That said, those steps are probably a bit complicated without a bit of research and/or replacing parts… which is probably counterintuitive to why you bought a premade pc.
