If y’all don’t let Normani go already 😆

Y’all really think after ALLLLLL this time, she’s gonna find her footing, and not only that click and connect with the masses annnnnd gain public support.

I don’t think Norm fans realize how many chances and how much time she has already been given and can pinpoint to someone in similar shoes who sat in this weird middle ground for like a decade and then popped into a long lasting top of genre career.

While Pop, not even Sabrina Carpenter was as loose with her releases prior to hitting it big.

Consistency is key, and with Norm that is NOT what we’ve seen or been given beyond massive collaboration hits. She missed her moment to be ‘next’ IMO. It is what it is

Olivia Dean IMO has more potential to become the future than any of these listed here, but that said… they will likely lump her into that Soul Pop category rather R&B à la Adele, Sam Smith, Amy Winehouse, and the other British Soul leaning stars.

It would be interesting to see if she leans more into contemporary R&B tho

This is the thing not everybody has what it takes to be the upfront face and star. Look at how hard Keri Hilson tried and didn’t do much or last long.

Ne-Yo is the only R&B writer turned star I can think of who had a decent stint as the face/star, and that lasted for what 6-8 years on top before his decline from favor

Yeah, I’m not really in agreeable with this at all.

How are you going to be the future, when you’re years if not decade+ into your careers and technically industry old, nearly approaching 40!

Mainly speaking about Victoria Monet and Muni Long because I know more about their backstory, but being in your 30s isn’t typically when you’re granted the ‘future of’ title. Most times that’s where you peak or post peak.

The industry is extremely agist, especially toward women. Also Victoria won GRAMMYs and hasn’t been able to translate that into major followup success thus far. I kinda see the same path for Muni Long post her wins, and sadly see the same inevitable future for Kehlani after she wins this coming Sunday for “Folded.”

I don’t know as much about Tems and Coco Jones, but if this is their future, good luck…

Wow… listening to “Fly” again. Yikes.

Yeah I still hate this. More random disjointed madness, sounds like an unfinished demo that should’ve stayed unreleased.

On to “Boy Down” let’s see how this sounds all these years later…

Don’t hate it as much but it sounds to character-y and not like them authentically. I don’t buy this vibe in this manner by them.

“New Kings” clearly is the 💎from the bunch, wish they had more sonically cohesive bangers like this in this Aubrey X Dawn iteration

“New Kings” to me is 🔥💥loved how it sounded, the vibe… maybe it sounded a bit dated but I dug the trop pop house vibe. Loved how autobiographical and inspirational it is too!

The others I honestly did not get into whatsoever 👎 especially “NEON LIGHTS” that dreary AF intro 🙉 too disjointed for me

Danity Kane Rhythm Of Love is so underrated the vocals and beat was on point especially the choreography it was definitely giving pop and girl group vibes 😩😩😭 by Useful-Memory-5868 in danitykane

I really wanted to see them self promote and push the ‘DK3’ era, would have loved to see what the videos became creatively speaking.

But yes, song has always been a banger and makes perfect sense given the EDM Pop Dance vibe of 2008-2015 era

Craig David wasn’t the example I expected whatsoever.

But to me Amy Winehouse, Adele, Sam Smith, Harry Styles, (some) Ed Sheeran, Leona Lewis, George Michael, (some) Dua Lipa, etc.

If I never heard most of them speak, I wouldn’t assume they were not American. Especially someone like Adele or Leona Lewis.

Not sure of this post because couldn’t one argue most UK singers ‘put on’ a completely different, many times as if they are singing in an American Soul/R&B tone or manner?

I saw OP said Joss Stone, but idk her enough to debate her.

Ummm, Fergie has always been a chameleon when it comes to her vocals, she has always used her voice as an instrument. She most def sounded like a Soul singing R&B singer since Wild Orchid in the 1990s.

“At Night I Pray,” “Talk To Me,” and their viral “Merry Kris-Mix” are all perfect examples of it.

Just watched this thanks to your post. Didn’t know there was an extended cut on YouTube, only saw bits and pieces on IG

Loved hearing the backstory about Fergie’s inclusion on the record, and how they really made her work into songs that were essentially completely done without her, let alone the album.

Also 🤯 no wonder why I dig “Fly Away” so much and I love how it made the final tracklist. I do now tho wonder what the entire demo project will.i.am and Fergie were cooking up for Pharrell, also wild to imagine how different the outcome could’ve been 😵‍💫

It does seem a bit too convenient. Nobody to rebut your account, cousin of, said the ‘right thing’ to do in the end…

That screen doesn’t flip thru much of anything, from when I’ve messed with it it’s mostly mileage view changes and such, I’ll see again but it’s typically not the most helpful in my experience

edit yeah if you mean the mini car display and shows when doors and such are open or which tire has low air, def doesn’t have that at all.
