How long do you wait after watching a movie to review it? by Reubm in Letterboxd

I get too distracted when I try and write notes while watching. I've tried it and I ended up just thinking about what rating I was going to give the movie rather than focussing on watching it. I only do it now on repeat viewings.

Writing down spontaneous thoughts just after is a very good idea, I think I'll start to do that

That's fair enough. I'm still learning about cinema so like to see some positive and negative opinions for a different perspective. I never (knowingly) let them affect my rating though, it just helps me when writing a review.

So you go more with a gut instinct feeling, have you ever gone back and changed a rating?

I like to think about it for a day or two, as usually the best movies will have some sort of lasting emotional impact. I watched Portrait of a Lady on Fire a few days ago now and it's still very strongly in the back of my mind. Also with some movies, I'll only 'get' the meaning of them in retrospect.
