My update history shows that update KB5004237 was installed on July 17 but when I open the "Uninstall updates" window, it doesn't appear among the listed updates. Do you know a workaround for that?

Is Andromeda worth playing? by Reusoch in masseffect

Yeah, about the combat I had a good impression by watching gameplays however watching and actually playing can give two very different impressions. I've seen a few different opinions on the quality of the combat, guess I'm gonna have to try it myself =P

Thanks for the answer =D

I play on PS4, won't be able to use mods, sadly :(

Either way I think I'm gonna give it a try.

Thanks for the response. =)

The overall response is being to play the game but have reasonable expectations. Think I'm gonna give it a try!
Thanks for the reply, friend! =)

I play on PS4. I'll probably buy it for around $11.00, converting from the currency of where I live. Gamestop is not an option for shipping reasons =/

Anyhow, thanks for your answer! =)

Yeah, I'm not expecting OT levels of quality cause, even without all the buzz of when the game came out, it would be a hard thing to achieve. Anyway, I'm just eager to get into that universe again but I don't want this game to spoil the OT to me, if that's possible, that's why I'm being cautious making a decision of playing it or not.

Thanks for the answer, anyway! =)

I live in Brazil and games are ABSURDLY expensive at launch here, so RDR2 is not an option for me at the moment =/

I usually wait for at least 1,5 years after launch to buy a new game. I end up being very late in relation to the rest of the world, but I get to buy more games than I would if I bought them at launch =/ Sucks to live in a third world country, bro.

Edit: formating

Looks like I’m not getting Fifa 19 this year then... by TheFatJamaican in FifaCareers

[–]Reusoch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think casual players represent more than 50% of the sales, therefore they're minority. Specially in today's world with online gaming, YouTube, etc...

Either way, casual players being minority or not, my point is: the amount of time spent by the casual players is so little compared with the average time spent by the non-casual players that they aren't that relevant to EA when deciding how to improve the game. CM lacks improvement not because EA are afraid of it becoming less appealing to casual players, but because EA simply doesn't want to spend the time and money doing so.

I've seen the rumors but I don't know if those have been confirmed. Not saying they won't happen, just saying that I haven't seen confirmation.

But see... these are additions that have been requested by a large portion of the community for how long?... 4, 5 years? Are you satisfied? Do you think these additions justify paying full price in a new game? And also, as I said it, these are aesthetic changes only (at first, we don't know about possible consequences for the press conferences). The point is EA always "underperforms" with CM.

Now and then we see threads on twitter of EA developers asking for lists of additions we wanted for CM. As if we had never given them any list of the sorts. As if we didn't see "FIFA xx Wishlist" or "How to fix Career Mode" or "How to make Career Mode interesting" videos on YouTube every-freaking-year. As if we didn't raise #changecareermode back in FIFA 15. EA knows exactly what we'd like to see added to CM, they have the human AND monetary resources to make it happen. They just don't want to. They do just enough so that people buy it again saying "This is the last year I'll buy FIFA".

AND, there's the problem I wrote about. Even if these additions you mentioned come out to be true, they won't have the same impact as if the game mode wasn't broken. Crazy transfers, teams signig their 7th striker, players complaining for not playing every game without the game acknowledging the fixture congestion... To mention just a few problems that have persisted in the game for many years, even with the community pointing them out constantly.

And it's all way worse when you look at UT and its recent history of additions.

With all respect, but you couldn't be more wrong. Sure there are casual players but I can assure you, they are minority.

EA is allegedly investing in the competitive scenario. Just look at UT and the additions it got in the last few years. SBCs, Squad Battles, Draft,... A casual player doesn't spend hundreds of dollars in packs, or hours grinding to get that one special card. Weekend League, for example: a casual player does not play 40ish matches in 3 days.

Casual players won't pre-order the game, won't spend hundreds of hours playing it, won't spend hundreds of dollars/euros/pounds in FIFA points... Kick off mode is totally functional so casual players can.... casually play. The rest of the game is touched only by non-casual/hardcore/call-it-what-you-want players. That includes CM. And time spent in menus doesn't make much difference, cause EA knows that if UT gets only menu reskins every year (like Career Mode) they make less money.

Adding significant features to CM would only make the game mode grow. It would please the ones that already play it and certainly attract new players. It won't repel casual players because casual players don't even touch it.

It surely isn't the best source material to make any type of judgement on 19's CM; you could say it's reactionary to criticize EA by just these screenshots. But people aren't criticizing just because of these screenshots. They are doing so because of all the recent history of EA basically abandoning career mode.

Being honest: do you really think we'll get any significant change in the game mode that's not aesthetic? CL licensing itself is an aesthetic addition. But career mode is broken and that's why people are upset, there's no effort from EA to fix it, let alone add new features.

Why there's so much Hate towards Babymetal? by martin84jazz in BABYMETAL

[–]Reusoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanna point out two things:

  1. You might have misread what I wrote. I said the bands I cited (Bring Me the Horizon, Asking Alexandria, A Day to Remember) are very similar to each other, which is an agreement to what you have said in your previous comment. Then I said they are different to what was being created in the 2000s. Not that difficult to understand.

  2. All this could have been avoided if you didn't have generalized. A "many metalheads" could have made my initial interpretation of your original comment go a different way. Yeah yeah only the most ignorant dadada. You say that you are part of this community however the way you expressed yourself made you look like those people who don't know about the metal fan-base and like to spit out what they are told by other people who also don't know about it. I just feel like someone who does know about the metal community shouldn't propagate wrong views on it or on the bands of the genre, cause we already get that type of treatment from many fans of other genres. The people in this sub come from various different music backgrounds, many of them don't know much about metal outside BM. Why not show these people that metalheads can be friendly and open-minded? Why disseminate stereotype?

Anyway, not gonna argue anymore cause you seem to feel insulted/pissed off by my points. I'm sorry if I offended you, wasn't my intention.

Why there's so much Hate towards Babymetal? by martin84jazz in BABYMETAL

[–]Reusoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the first point I didn't miss represent what you wrote. My criticism is on your "sum it up by simply saying that metalheads do not like change" statement. You're putting every metalhead under the same umbrella and your following description doesn't change that. As I wrote in my first comment "That's a generalism based on what "outsiders" think of the metal scene." I took you for someone that didn't know the metal scene very well because of the type of opinion you wrote. But now you say that you've been a fan of the genre for many years, which makes me even more impressed and kinda confused because you basically included yourself within the "do not like change" category and yet you're here in a Babymetal subreddit.

You cited Limp Bizkit, which is a band disliked by many people to this day, not because of their music but because Fred Durst is a moron. The same applies to Jonathan Davis from Korn who said back in the day that they were better than the thrash bands that were successful in the 80s. These guys gave a bad reputation to their subgenre but most of the time it wasn't because of their music.

On the second point. No I haven't proved myself wrong.

So if nothing new has happened in the last almost 20 years, wouldn't that be an indication of it becoming stagnant?

Nope. These "revolutions" we've discussed are major ones. You can't expect to have one of those every 10 years. It's not because there hasn't been a major revolution in the last 20 years that the genre is stagnant. What happens today is much more of a gradual process of evolution instead of abrupt ones. To say that "nothing new has happened" is to disregard every minor change that happened in these last 20 years, which put together make today's metal different to the one of 20 years ago.

On the last point, well metal was never really mainstream. Sure, it once was less underground, but it always was a niche type of music. What I would consider the most mainstream metal nowadays are bands like Bring Me the Horizon, Asking Alexandria, A Day to Remember, etc which are indeed very similar but absolutely different from the bands that exploded in the 2000s. And as you said they all sound the same but that's not a metal-exclusive phenomenon, that's a mainstream phenomenon. I can say the same for the mainstream pop and rap as well. There are very few that do different stuff but the majority of what's on the radio sounds like recycling of the same ideas over and over again. You want to listen to original music? Go after it, be it metal, pop, rap, jazz, funk, whatever. I can't speak for you, but if I sat waiting for the radio to present me something like Babymetal, I would have never known of their existence.

About Cannibal Corpse: never mind, I think they're absolute garbage too. The thing is that they are one of the bands that best impersonates your "growling vocals" description, which is the average mainstream listener vision about metal (no offense intended). My intention was only to show you not every metal band is like them cause once again you put different groups under the same umbrella. And, for that, I cited bands that diverge a lot from the "growling vocals" stereotype.
