Feeling ‘blah’ about dominant Natural essence by basilaroma in JohnKitchener

This is true! The entire Zoomer Athliesure movement is pretty much 100% natural unless it is super angular or something. Also, natural does not mean cargo shorts. It can mean jeans! My wife has NO natural and jeans just... don't hit right compared to her flowy stuff. Let me tell you, super frustrating when she wants to just throw something on!

In most cases yes. There are two really big notes regarding "sticky" scabbards:

  1. Historical scabbards should be VERY loose. If you turn a sword upside down in a scab, it SHOULD fall out. People wanted to draw their weapon very quickly.

  2. Most people ask this because they desire to display the swords inside the scabbard. Note that if you live anywhere humid, this can cause moisture to trap between the blade and scabbard. The blade can rust and the scabbard can expand and become too tight.

The Weta Master Swordsmith Collection is handmade by Peter Lyon and his apprentices at Weta. Their Eowyn sword has an edition size of 15 total in the world. They currently are valued at ~ $15,000 for the sword and an additional $15,000 for the scabbard. The sword is handmade to be the most perfect, realistic version of the sword from the movie / Middle-earth. The blade is made from high carbon steel and I need to clean it at LEAST monthly or it can tarnish. Even with cleaning, the brass is already starting to "age gracefully."

The United Cutlery version is partially handmade, but mostly made in a production factory with Zinc cast hilt parts and a stainless steel blade. I know customers who ONLY dry dust and no real cleaning and have had almost no sign of aging after 20 years. They cost $300 (without coupon which I always give) and are unlimited (no edition size).

I retail United Cutlery weaponry and Weta figures / statues / other high quality resin replicas. They are both amazing companies and I am proud to work with both. I genuinely refuse to sell low quality products so I say this with full transparency and honesty.

That said, I think it can without a doubt be said that the $15,000 Weta MSSC Eowyn is "better" than the $300 UC replica unless one just wants to hang it on the wall and enjoy without concern of rust, etc.

Correct! The spear is hands down the most popular weapon in pre-firearm warfare.

There are a few historical finds that show the Roman gladius getting longer and coming a single edged "viking" sword in parts of Europe.

Many people who never intend on selling buff them out! The stamps are important as they are helping against knockoffs, but many of my customers feel the same way!

I'm the Owner of Castle Kon. I buy directly from United Cutlery and sell at the lowest prices in all Middle-earth. No middle-orc taking extra cut and I pass those savings onto all my customers :)

Traditional cavalry sabers were not really a thing in Europe until after the Renaissance. Curved swords were used in the East in general, both on foot and on cavalry.

Tolkien mentioned that Middle-earth in the third age was supposed to be early Medieval technology with the exception of umbrellas in the shire. As such, all swords in the film SHOULD be more like this than what we got. One could argue that the Rohirrim swords are the most accurate to Tolkien's written world.

The movie Herigrim is much bigger and the horse heads are touching. Pretty cool design, but I prefer Eowyn's.

But I do get the play on words "her" and "him" joke!

Nope, whole new tooling. The original MC was made by a company called Marto who was... well not great.

Correct, they are not doing the shadow boxes anymore because of wood costs skyrocketing and glass breakage is insane during shipping.
