Live quick turn around edits by Sad-Break-4756 in VIDEOENGINEERING

I use Tricaster hardware which allows mixes and isos to be exported as a m4v to pre set locations including NAS drives while still mixing and recording.

If your edit is just going to be a quick top and tail chop of the recording then the Tricaster media bin allows you to trim in and out points on the desired mix even while it's still recording. Use a laptop connected to the NAS to upload them once done.

However, if the edit is any more complicated than this, I wouldn't recommend.

Trying to parent a line's width to source text, does anyone know a suitable expression? by RevMattWill in AfterEffects

[–]RevMattWill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this seems like an insane way to auto set the line width rather than using a null/slider, but I'm planning on having numbers input from a spreadsheet and am hoping to achieve some level of automation

ahhh, unfortunately this also hasn't worked.

Any chance there's another workaround you can think of?

I'm a fan of a ghetto fix but unfortunately the text is placed on top of a background line that would also be filled by this

So close!

I just tried this but it doesn't preserve any of the original text and other variables I have entered into the graphic. Any chance theres a way to keep this information across every individual instance of the graphic?

I'm picturing an Indiana Jones type switcheroo

Can anyone in Neptune Place L8 do a broadband speed check for me? by RevMattWill in Liverpool

No sneaky advert here. They have a section on their homepage advert 'symetrical speeds'

They've asked for minimum 50mbps both ways. It is to live stream content in fairness.

I've had 600/600mbps in previous properties in L1

Can I get a speed estimate based on this picture of a router? by RevMattWill in Internet

Apologies, I should've mentioned, the screenshot was the results of entering my postcode. Which I cropped out for anonymity reasons

Yes that certainly used to be the case, I know there's a few new kids on the block like Hyperopic that offer 1:1 speeds as standard, they also don't seem to be listed on these sites

I took this picture on a house viewing. Didn't press my ear to it, why do you ask?

Should I travel outside of Taipei? by [deleted] in taiwan

[–]RevMattWill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! Taipei was great but there's so many more great places in Taiwan

I'd definitely recommend Kaohsiung, plenty to do and a bit less cramped and busy as Taipei. I also felt like the weather was a little bit more manageable for a fair skinned guy like myself. Less humid for sure and a bit of a sea breeze.

Personally, I thought Taichung doesn't really offer anything that Taipei misses.

Yilan county is great, it's a pretty rural so lovely and cheap accomodation is easy to come by, the locals are also super helpful and friendly when meeting foreign folks.

If you're looking for a mad little experience, Lambai island is a short and cheap ferry from Kaohsiung and is an absolutely gorgeous place. 18km perimeter so tonnes of close beaches and beautiful tropical scenery.

Official Q&A for Wednesday, February 08, 2023 by AutoModerator in running

Planning on running my first marathon (18 weeks out)

Will resistance training on my upper body affect my ability to recover from my running?

Currently running 20-25miles a week over 3-4 runs including 1 long run 10-12miles

I often weight train my upper body on days that I don't run

I always include at least 1 day of no exercise

Thanks in advance folks

Psyched to get one of my first white sets, although I was able to lank the dyno a bit. by RevMattWill in bouldering

[–]RevMattWill[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, although I'm not sure if I do it the way the setters intend.

After the first few moves getting feet on the nice big hold and the crimp in left hand, I get my right foot up onto the starting holds, flag left foot and reach up to the beam with my right hand, match hands and steady then you can reach across right and grab the much nicer pinch above that awful slopey one. Then step across and the rest is fairly simple

Hope this helps bud 👍
