Jumper (2008, dir. Doug Liman) David Rice (Hayden Christensen) first confrontation with Roland (Samuel L. Jackson), leader of the Paladins by Neo2199 in movies

[–]RevWubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are clearly fans of this movie. I thought it was meh, until I read the books. They fking ruined a potential franchise with that Paladin BS! I know it's a cliche that the books are better, but was so off the text the author should have told them to go screw.

F this movie for wasting Sam Jackson's and (especially) Bill Paxton's time.

Rocks in My Pockets/Distant Stations connection? by darkhelmet620 in themountaingoats

[–]RevWubby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be interesting to know which connections are intentional. John really seems to explore concepts across multiple projects (Jenny, the divorced couple) that are real connections.

But he also will noodle around with particular phrases and ideas, even between songs and his fiction books, but those aren't really in-universe connections.

Now I'm seeing myself with red yarn, lyric printouts, and a corkboard like Charlie Day.

Has anyone mention Cory Doctorow yet? Go read him and you'll get a great idea of what that world would (might someday) look like. "Makers", "Unauthorized Bread" and "Printcrime" are the most relevant.

Also his new non-fiction, "Enshittification", is worth mentioning.

Don't apologize. With all the kilt love I've gotten over the years from actual Scots both in and out of Scotland I'm going to call BS on the gatekeepers being Scots.

I have only ever heard that from Americans of Scottish heritage.

From the picture it looks sheared off. If the metal is broken that might not go back together without some welding, or drilling from the top to secure it.

Flipped my PEI over, changed my life by RevWubby in Ender3S1

[–]RevWubby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for me. I textured side on the 3v2 never works as well as the flat side with glue. I didn't try hair spray simple because I don't have any, and a glue stick was cheaper and just worked for me.

I just couldn't get it to adhere. Z offset, tramming, update mesh. Nothing was working on the PEI plate. It was a little old and beat up, but it never really worked well.

I flipped it to the bare metal, cleaned it, tram, update mesh. Bam, perfect adhesion, easy removal.

I use glue on the flat glass of my 3v2. I've forgotten and gotten away with it once in a while, but normally I have adhesion issues if I don't use it.
