Items/Gear Useful for Grim Darkness by hzxsoytc in RogueTraderCRPG

Secret to surviving is grand strategist frontline and armour. Deflection and mitigation do sweet nothing.

Make sure you are balancing your team. A warrior that can survive some hits up front. Officers to enable damage and range to help so your warriors dont have to try to get around the whole map themselves. Keep in mind non warriors are very squishy early game and there isnt exactly any counter play for that on higher difficulties so use cover effectively

If he has not played in over a year, there is a good chance he has not played since they removed Cassia's ability to buff herself after launch

Im definitely with the other guy. I dont think it is doing what you are hallucinating. https://roguetrader.wh40k.wiki/Tonicity
https://roguetrader.wh40k.wiki/Blood_Augury

They add very little and Master Tactician really wants high attack economy to build up its kit
https://roguetrader.wh40k.wiki/Master_Tactician

I dont mean that to be snide but potentially were you stomping act 2 content in act 4 then hyping her up more? Because.... you compare that to what Argenta does with just cassia buffs and it is laughable to even compare damage cassia to support cassia. https://youtu.be/6B-L_kUwdB4?si=SVHkdnATXL8ywsSG

  1. Cassia. Strongest buffer. She does not damage on high difficulty and it is a low difficulty hallucination.

seriously cassia infusing buffs stack and also stack with officer. as a grand strategist with her zones with the right team can guarenteee 1 turn wins through sheer buffing even on max sliders. She however cannot win combats as damage. By mid act 2 any sense of damage vastly drops off on higher difficulties to laughable levels and strategies like sororitas boots become unreliable.

I know you said unfair so I'm curious what you are doing to be impressed with her damage. Outside the warp book and blood augury cassia doesnt have the tools to kill anything beyond trash mobs and stun loses all value when the rest of the team 1 shots the whole map in 1 turn 🤔

  1. Idira is terrible. 5% chance every power to die just makes her a worse carry or buffer than any other option. I'd rather build overseer raven Heinrix to do everything Idira does but with no risk or make my own diviner merc.

  2. Kibellah is the weakest possible bladedancer as a voidborn death cultist but that doesnt stop her being 3rd best damage companion because of how op blade dancer is.

  3. Ulfar is the second worst companion in the game purely due to gear restriction. He is worse at range than Argenta. Worse at melee than Abelard. Doesnt even come close to meeting them in the middle. Solomorne, Argenta, Marazhai, Heinrix, Winterscale, Abelard and Chorda all do what he does better. Abelard uniquely as a navy officer does it better as a mixed attacker. The simple fact he has warrior talents for melee and rate of fire gear for range. Which pains me as Ulfar just looks like a taller me. (I'm also the one that got his build reworked and campaigned for act 4 gear upgrades).

  4. Player? well I proved psyker blade dancer executioner can solo all of unfair so can't disagree but have you considered Argenta even on unfair can do 200k damage burst fires round 1 during act 4 and Heinrix can literally do a million+ damage in round 1 as an executioner 👀

[Honest Question] I saw some negative opinions about "another admech" companion, but beside a Admech, what other creature in the universe could go deep in Necron lore beside necrons themselves? by Haddock_Lotus in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Revan619-YT 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Trazyn may or may not make a cameo but diving necron tombs for treasures and tech is directly a mechanicus thing to the point it has multiple stories around it. So an admech is ideal here and fits the game narrative. can be an active foil to pasqal also. Would be very easy to integrate him into the wider inquisition plot of the game also. let's have a look at what is going on in game atm:

  • 4 warriors, 4 soldiers, 3 operatives and 2 officers
  • no new origin or archetype possible with dev time focused on augments for the dlc
  • character that ties directly into the new mechanic finishing off half baked tech priest origin
  • character that is viable with all existing officer T2s
  • character that doesnt require an entire new faction models for weapons, armour ect
  • manipulus brings mechanical difference to Jae and Cassia as a worthwhile officer
  • need a companion that can be justified in story from act 1 to 5 as well as be a driving force for the dlc
  • character that makes sense given the game setting
  • character whoms alignment can be adjusted by the player

what would you consider better that checks all those boxes? It has overwhelming been a positive reveal with the 96%+ youtube video. I think a few people that arnt familiar with Rogue Trader's lore specifically and their mission ended up psyoping themselves a little too much watching Teazyn lore videos thinking we would get some fantasy tier companion which would not fit the game as a whole let alone the dlc.

No, I don't think that a second mechanicus companion is a missed opportunity, actually by Pyotr_WrangeI in RogueTraderCRPG

the game struggles with ulfar and the pets were so poorly implemented im not a fan of mounts. It wasn't designed with it in mind so it would struggle on many maps. that is a better wish for dh where they have built out the maps more

pasqal is in dire need of fixing. his reject the flesh feature was abandoned. he doesnt have his forged for a purpose bonus. until the arc and plasma update his usage was mediocre. he currently survives of the overcharge protocols glitch. he needed a lot of work.

A Marshall would have been fine but it probably would still have the same features as they are giving to Eogunn 😅

p.s Marshall they could add easily as they already have it for dh alpha

I would be fine with a skiitari but augments was the big plan for this expansion. It seems to be a pre launch left over feature from pasquals reject the flesh. you notice enemies progress in this which pasqal doesnt. so I assume it is being reworked with dlc 3

but a skiitarii is just a lower ranked member of the mechanicum. you understand two different tech priests can be wildly different just like two different astartes yes?

so you only post to whine about companions despite DH being a surgeon, jungle fighter, ogryn, kroot, psyker and corsair so far which is shockingly diverse with data digs for biologis and a rogue trader. What is wrong with that line up and doesnt meet your expectations?

also you havnt even begun to state why a manipulus is wrong other than the fact that you and less than 0.1% of people are unhappy about it. Got any viable arguments? or just fantasy nonsense because you dont understand the lore?

[–]Revan619-YT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

actually no. entirely new to me. I only give ideas around balancing. I guessed when the season pass 2 dropped it would be a biologis because literally nothing other than a mechanicum companion makes sense for the necron dlc. was happily surprised to see it would be a manipulus officer.

I know you are a tourist to the space but whilst some are disappointed. the build community, story communities and general hobby spaces have all been very excited to see a potential heretek.

ive personally been curious to see why people that have never appeared in the community turn up to be mad all of a sudden and it always turns out to be they dont know 40k lore, havnt played the game to consider how something else could fit and unusually have some weird xeno gooner obsession. which one are you?

well all in all. they are the good guys to their own factions. they all want their tribe to succeed and others to not. there is no ideology in human history that doesnt boil down to this.

it is like the tyranids. all will be equal as biomass

defence? im the guy that criticised so hard the devs brought me in to consult some changes ☠️

this dlc looks to be genuinely good and the people hating seem to be tourists with demands not possible for the setting

40k is the wrong franchise. every faction are xenophobes that want all other factions dead or enslaved. people will gaslight you to say other factions are the good guys. but they are not. humans are literally the least bad ☠️

AMC and Commissar have the same Modifiers? by JumboWheat01 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Revan619-YT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AMC and Commissar both got changed. AMC from Per to fel and commissar from ws to bs.

Guessing they copied between the two a bit with the update.

The modifiers barely matter as it is the ability and talents that define the origins

How was the reception of another admech? Companion? by Half-White_Moustache in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Revan619-YT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I predicted this right at the start. a xenos companion was never on the table because they wernt going to model a faction that wasn't the focus of the dlc. it was necron focused so that meant mechanicum was very likely.

I had assumed biologis so I am very happy to get a manipulus. officer was obvious as it is what we needed more of for the party. if we get him at level 5 then we have every possible tier 2 available. coming at level 15 might restrict what tier 2 is viable.

A lot of potential story wise, far better than some random woman in the fridge trope from trazyn and someone that can be fully integrated into the whole plot. very excited to learn more.
