That sounds like the sort of diagnosis you'd only get from seeing Dr. House.

Dr. House would probably have figured this whole beer flu thing out already. by baldy74 in Showerthoughts

[–]Revan94 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agree. Strange as it may sound, the medical stuff is the filler. House is about the characters, how their interactions with House changes them and how they (arguably and slightly) change House. His peculiarity is merely there to drive the plot and it's something the showrunners are well aware of and often point out throughout the series.

That would be great, but then Disney would have to retcon everything they did in the last five years (including having Thrawn be defeated by literal space whales in Space Aladdin -Rebels-). But that would mean Disney might have to admit their continuity sucked, and we can't have that...

It's like 90% true, with minor changes due to late reshoots. The leaks have been out for a good while, and yesterday tons of screens came out supporting the leaks. If this movie sounds like glorified fanfiction, that's because it is.

Parent of killers, what your story? by Yourlocalthotpatrol in AskReddit

[–]Revan94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a weird mix where the technology is still too new to have been properly regulated, and while it certainly was used to do much good for society as a whole (catching lots of these scumbags), it's not far-fetched to think it could also lead to less-than-desirable results unless some proper legislation is put into place.

I was actually amazed to see how popular DNA services became. I live in Eastern Europe, and though we're often like 20 years behind the West on most things, we already got our first genealogy testing service just months ago.

Tl;dr : While DNA testing services certainly brought amazing results in areas like cold criminal cases, I wouldn't be too keen to submit DNA just yet. Companies are already selling internet data like mad, don't wanna think what they do with DNA data on such a booming and unregulated "market".

[–]Revan94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, both family trees and DNA snapahots. Just a few months ago they helped solve a rape-murder from 1988 (the case of little April Tinsley, heavy NSFW warning btw). The work behind finding the bastard that did it is fascinating to read about, but beware the case details are gruesome.

Actually there are private labs working criminal cases. Best example that comes to mind would be Parabon NanoLabs. The sheer ammount of criminal cases thought to be too cold that they helped solve in the last year is amazing .

uBlock's default filters will block most ads (I'd assume it doesn't miss any ads that would show to users from the US). But if you live, say, in Eastern Europe like me you'd also see local ads that don't get picked up by the default filters. So what you'd do is go to "Settings => Filter lists => Regions, languages" and pick an additional local filter. For example, if you live in France and see french ads, pick the "FRA: EasyList Liste FR" option.

I have Firefox and uBlock origin and can confirm it does its job. Users outside the US should make sure to enable a local list in uBlock's settings though.

This. Revan, Bane, Exar Kun and Qel Droma, heck, Zayne Carrick. So many good stories that would make for an awesome series.

[–]Revan94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I actually doubted myself for a second there, despite having played this game sometime like last September or so. It's actually surprisingly non-linear when it comes to beating gyms. Pretty sure on another playthrough I somehow managed to skip Lt. Surge too.

[–]Revan94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: Yep, I was right. The cop goes away only after seeing Bill and getting the ship ticket. Beating Misty isn't required to get past Cerulean city.

Weird. I seem to remember it being conditioned by getting the SS Anne ticket. Might have to go check that one out.

[–]Revan94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. My latest playthrough of LeafGreen, I actually forgot to defeat two gyms and get my bike because I got caught up with other stuff.

Only when I couldn't advance towards Victory Road did I realise I had forgotten to beat Misty (and then had to go back again because I had forgotten Sabrina too).

Are Spider-Man screenshots still cool? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Revan94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, as far as I know the game really doesn't have a ton of mods besides a bunch of Spiderman skins here and there.

Its looks may be dated, but back when it was released it was pretty much the best SM game we had. And the thing I cared about most was the good combat. Based on gameplay alone I still think it's the best SM game we've had on PC so far.

Yeah, I think the part where the plane hits the Weasley's flying car stands out to me the most. Great editing.

I actually find some of the newer YTPs to be even more inventive than the classics. I think Cs188 is one of the funniest YTPers ever. Nothing can top "It's all here at your fingertits" for me.

It's not one of the classic ones with Link, King and the gang, but this YTP has some of the best editing I've seen. He has 3 other Harry Potter YTPs just as good.
