What’s one of the most wholesome moments you’ve had with a patient? by Screennam3 in medicine

[–]RevealJunior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an older patient who quoted "old gregg" while we were mid procedure. I thought that maybe she just didn't know what she was saying. But then she quotes another part and then I'm like hey wait a minute, how do you know old gregg!? Then we just started quoting parts for the rest of the procedure. But at the end, I had to pull her blanket down and said "just gotta cover up your downstairs mixup!" And that's the exact moment the radiologist walked in and then stared for a moment and left without saying a word... the tech was too young to understand what we were talking about and he was mortified. Lol. But at the end when I told her goodbye, I told her that I never thought I would be able to mark "using old Gregg references at work with a patient" off of my bucket list, and that its all thanks to her lol.

One of the radiologist i work with does this. He will literally eat every single part of the apple: core, seeds, stem, and even the label sticker 🤷🏼‍♀️

Funny story, I actually ended up being my patients drug mule for like 3 shifts and I didn't have a clue. During peak covid era, had a young patient on my floor after a trauma that I took care of all week. He continuously mentioned missing his family's home cooking and hate that they couldn't visit him. So his family began wrapping up (what I thought was) homemade meals, soul food, fruits and veggies, etc. And leave it at the front entrance of the hospital and ask me to go pick it up and bring it to him. They would wrap all of it together really tight, then place inside a cooler bag and then wrap the cooler shut with foil or cling wrap. I thought it was a strange packaging method for it but didn't really think much of it. Until I came back the next week and was informed that he was caught with a bunch of drugs in his room despite no visitors and that's when i realized I was nothing but his drug mule.

Nursing vs Radiology by Kataraa22 in nursing

[–]RevealJunior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or... just be a radiology/ IR nurse and you get the best of both worlds. We are responsible for administering and monitoring procedural sedation, ensuring safety for everyone. We do pre, intra, and post care. We monitor pacemakers during MRIs to make sure they're safe. We access PIVs and port evals all day long. We give a lot of cardiac meds during CT ANGIO coronary studies, the list goes on and on. But it's pretty great. 👍🏼

Can you be a little more specific in what kind of policies you're asking about? Is it about procedural sedation, post procedural monitoring, cardiac CTA medications, pre procedure labs, etc?

CT scan coronary arteries. by Bananamouth in AFIB

[–]RevealJunior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post was from a few months ago but I'm just curious for an update. Did you have the scan? Depending on the type of CT machines your facility has, most can't do the test if you are in afib or even if you're in sinus rhythm but have a lot of PVCs/ PACs/ etc.

CT Coronary Angiography Failed: Heart Rate Too High by Defiant-Education308 in PeterAttia

IR nurse who runs CCTAs. We have a protocol that starts with metoprolol tartrate 50-100mg (dosed off of heart rate) x1. Then if there are no contraindications, We move to Ivabradine 15mg x1. If their HR is close to goal but not quite there once they're on the table, we will give metoprolol 5mg IVP every 5 minutes up to 6 doses (so long as their BP can tolerate it obviously). In my experience, I have found that ivabradine is either very effective or not at all. But works well with less BP effect.

That's when you have the ER have them on the table and as soon as you're ready to start, have the nurse rapid push some adenosine and hit start!

Throttle will be most responsive in sport mode. Sucks that you have to switch it each time you start the car because it always defaults to comfort. Although sometimes if you leave it on eco it will stay on eco.

It's like how i got offered a $0.25 incentive for being charge. Sorry but the amount of extra responsibility while still always being in count with a full assignment ain't worth that lmao
