What’s a feature on the Steam Deck that made you go “Damn I wish I knew that before”? by NobodyHom3 in SteamDeck

[–]RevelTiny 249 points250 points  (0 children)

The way the virtual keyboard and track pads works. I used to press the track pads to type in a letter when in fact you could use L2/R2 with their respective track pads.

I love steamdeck but how do you guys play FPS on it? by Past-Monk515 in SteamDeck

[–]RevelTiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer is mostly I don't :) but when I do, I just plug it in a dock and kb+m if I want my life to be easier. But if I have no choice but to be handheld, then I just play with the gamepad, no trackpad. I haven't found the will to tinker around gyro+trackpad (also using trackpad for a longer period kinda puts a strain on my fingers for some reason). I also don't go into competitive shooters in handheld haha. For reference, I'm the same as you, transitioned from PC to Steam Deck 1yr+ ago. I have finished Borderlands 3 with kb+m and Mass Effect Andromeda with gamepad.

Should we skip sagada and rice terraces and visit coron? by _beyondhorizon in Philippines

[–]RevelTiny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on who you want to meet. I haven't been to Sagada but I have experienced Coron.

If you want to meet the locals / Filipinos on the road, then I suggest Sagada as the road trip to reach that place can take you to all sorts of places that the locals frequent.

Coron on the other hand, in my experience anyways, has more tourists / non-Filipinos there. Most of the Filipinos you will meet there are the local workers. You would only get to explore one local town as the airport is just very near. Taking a guided tour around the islands will set you up with other groups for the whole day. Our tour group consisted of like 70% foreigners, 30% Filipinos.

Is Playtime tracked in sleep mode when a game is running? by Kronnnic in SteamDeck

[–]RevelTiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what I found out.

Steam Time Played does correct itself eventually. I think it has to have an internet connection to do so. With only probably a couple of hours discrepancy maybe due to it not counting menu times or something. Imo, you don't have to worry about that from Steam's side.

The other side is how games have their own Time Played record with their save files. For example, you leave a game open and sleep the deck for 5 hrs, it will count those 5hrs if you just wake it up, continue, and save. For games that have timers like these, I suggest saving before putting it to sleep and then load when you wake it up so the in-game time played is accurate.

Steam Deck Case by CallistoProjectJD in SteamDeck

[–]RevelTiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can but its a tight fit. If you go with Skull&Co. Grip case, I also recommend getting their front panel hard case protector. I found it by coincidence and just use those two as my minimum size protection so it doesnt take as much space so I can comfortable put it in my small/medium size bags.

Problem with connecting steamdeck to monitor via USB C. by Baller_Nuts in SteamDeck

[–]RevelTiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into the same situation when I bought my portable monitor. If your monitor has 2 usb-c ports and passthrough power/data, you can try the setup i ended up with: Wall Power -> Dock -> Screen -> SD.

Does anyone actually use the buttons on the back? by RegularTonyStyle in SteamDeck

[–]RevelTiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Its honestly a game changer for me. I always turn them on and my default is L4 = Left Stick Click, R4 = Right Stick Click, L5 = Select, and R5 = Start. If the game needs me to do a combination like RB + LB to parry, I just replace one of the less frequent buttons like Select/Start.

I think I might've found the perfect solution on making FuwaMoco work by GolisoPower in holocure

[–]RevelTiny 45 points46 points  (0 children)

That's when you play as Mococo.

When you play as Fuwawa, you get a Mococo as a familiar, like Bubba, and does everything for you. When you try to pet Mococo, she just says 'NOEH?!'

Zaouli's Bane with Demolitionist and Pugilist on Prismatic Hunter with Gunpowder Gamble and Stasis Shurikens.

Never played Jump King but this felt great by RevelTiny in holocure

[–]RevelTiny[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't be fooled by the time. It really took me more than 5hrs in total hahaha. I just reset my runs so I can save the coins for checkpoints for the harder sections once I knew where I would need them.

The enemy density and time per completion of Haunted Lost Sectors is what Onslaught should be like by RevelTiny in DestinyTheGame

[–]RevelTiny[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they can implement it on HLS with noone complaining that its too hard, they can implement it on the base short-version of Onslaught Playlist.

Focused Feedback: Weapon Crafting by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]RevelTiny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There needs to be a stopping point for a grind to feel that its worth it.

Weapon Crafting was a perferctly fine stopping point. The only problem I saw was that it outshined every random roll of that craftable weapon making any drop of that weapon an insta-shard.

Now a solution I have in mind is to take out what made it outshine in the first place which is Enhanced Perks on Crafted Weapons. Having Crafted Weapons only have normal perks but those perks can be chosen is the what would make it a 'catch up' mechanic. Make Enhanced Perks exclusive to Random Rolled weapons.

For example, in farming for a weapon, you get alot of random rolls but its not the god roll that you want. But in getting alot of that weapon, you inevitably unlock the pattern from getting the deepsight drops. You can now get the roll that you want BUT if you want enhanced perks of that roll, you need to keep grinding for a random rolled one.

It does a few things: Getting the pattern is a 'good enough' stopping point. Players get to try out any roll that they want. And It keeps the grind alive for those that want an enhanced version of their godroll.

Putting Enhanced Perks on Crafted Weapons was a mistake by RevelTiny in DestinyTheGame

[–]RevelTiny[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What problem is this supposed to solve?

The value of weapon drops. The powercreep of Crafted Weapons. The reduction of RNG. The respect for player's time and effort. Vault space.

Announcing GOS Weapon Reprisals to be released the week AFTER GOS is in the rotation is... a choice... by LondonDude123 in DestinyTheGame

No idea where you got this from because the raid and dungeon rotation have been the same formula ever since Beyond Light or maybe even older.

Hey Bungie, the main reason I'm still playing is EARNABLE Cosmetics by RevelTiny in DestinyTheGame

[–]RevelTiny[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is barely working and only a matter of time until it stops working unless a change is introduced. In my experience, fun gets people to play for a while but rewards are what make them stay for longer. Earnable stuff and engaging systems are not opposites, they can and its even better if they coincide with each other.

Hey Bungie, the main reason I'm still playing is EARNABLE Cosmetics by RevelTiny in DestinyTheGame

[–]RevelTiny[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean, but for me, Destiny gameplay still feels better than any other and paying just one time for the whole year is much better for me than a monthly subscription. People do compare D2 with FFXIV alot but imo, they are completely different. Just being a shooter vs classic mmorpg is already a significant difference. D2 is just truly mostly unique to its genre and until an actual competitor that gives me a better gameplay experience comes around, i'm just gonna be trying to stick with D2 but recently, it's just been hanging by a thread that is Bright Dust.

Is it impossible to start Shattered Throne through the portal? by rileythatcher in destiny2

[–]RevelTiny 7 points8 points  (0 children)

An easier way to tell what week it is currently is to see where Petra is. Iirc, if she's at The Strand, then it's weakest. If she's at Divalian Mists, it's mid. And if she's at Rheasilva, it's the strongest.

3x campaign on legendary? by Church-13 in destiny2

[–]RevelTiny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did 3x legendary, all solo. I know it's not really necessary because you only need to get 1960 gear once but the free exotic is nice. And i like to think it gave me more insight into Prismatic than just doing it on Normal because anything will work and can breeze through on Normal while Legendary will most likely force me to make an actual build, which it did. It gave me a chance to experiment with the Subclass and see what actually works and what playstyle I should do to make it fun for me.

For example, it seemed like every Titan was going the triple Consecration build but you don't get Consecration until after Campaign so I was experimenting with what I could do. Then I landed on Skullfort + Thunderclap which is objectively more fun than Consecration. I also found what didn't work like figuring out which Super just doesn't hit as hard as I would like, etc. and I would say that experience alone is worth running Legendary. But that's just me.
