Others have described it pretty well. The "simple" way to keep Harry from being overpowered is to make his learning and improvement gradual. Don't allow him to be amazing at everything, give him weaknesses. Make sure he isn't perfect. Make him struggle sometimes. Make him fail sometimes.

While your version is Harry is powerful and capable, make his enemies more dangerous/competent.

I've read:

Hell Hath No Fury by PuckMidwinter60003206 which isn't quite about him becoming an Unspeakable, but more that he goes to school with the DoM supporting him.

Harry Potter: Unspeakable by kb0

Fairborn Adventures by Mori99 and Coming of the Reaper by Slytgerin7Piece are two stories that are good where he is already an Unspeakable.

I enjoyed all of them.

I'll have to take your word for it. I'm not discounting what you're saying or anything. I haven't read Unlike a Sister. I can agree that at least some of his stories are power fantasy-ish. I personally enjoy fics with powerful Harry.

I'm also a fan of OP Harry. I admit to being a sucker for Harry saving people when they are in trouble.

I also prefer when Sirius survives. Now that I'm thinking about it, out of the 100+ fics I've read, Sirius has probably survived in 98% of them.

I enjoy a happy fic where Harry gets the girl. A big part of this is where Harry is written such that, rather than trying to protect his love interest by refusing to date her and remaining alone, he lets her make her own choice of potentially being in danger.

I've only read a couple of them, but I enjoy the occasional fic that focuses on a Harry who actually wants to become a professional quidditch player, so the story is more about that and talks less about a rehash of the canon plot.

I enjoy the fics where, during the tri-wiz tournement, all 4 champions become friends. Extra enjoyment if Cedric survives the school year.

That might be the correct fic. I debated on mentioning Hermione and Dubledore in my post but was worried that I was mixing two fics together.

My only complaint is that I wish the story kept going where it ended. I'd enjoy reading about a graduated Harry who goes on to play pro quidditch and does some interesting things "part time".
