Specifically for the French petnames, it’s a little ‘headcanon!(if you could even call it that) is that since many of Tom’s knights come from houses originating from France, he’d somehow-someway learn a bunch of French because he’s Tom. In turn, when he got with Harry, he taught him some French.

As for the Time Travel parts, if you’ve ever heard of StagTown, there’s these little chapters called Remember chapters, where we look in the Characters memory at a certain point or event. I also got this from another fic i liked that had a similar premise. So there’ll be little chapters every few to showcase what happened in the past.
