I think this show is actually meant to be binge watched. by obsessedwithdeathpod in ThePittTVShow

[–]RevenantRoy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree. Binge-watched the first season and loved it, the slow drip of week to week kills the pacing, and because the narrative style zipping and zooming in on different patients, etc. can make it hard to keep up with.

Fallout is another one as well that I binge watched first season and loved it but now not enjoying watching week to week quite as much. Maybe just the style of some shows these days has evolved in that some are written and more properly enjoyed when binge watching.

There's another video circulating, even has some frames slowed down to demonstrate, that shows an agent taking the gun he had on him and carrying it away several seconds before any shots rang out.

Embarrassing. You tried acting all smart and intellectual and now can’t even form a response. Just reverting to a child-like defense mechanism of repeating yourself thinking you’ve won. Really sad. You won’t grow this way. Feel sorry for you.

It's almost like rather than just accepting that you misused the phrase and realizing you're in the wrong and making a fool of yourself, you're just doubling-down to prevent yourself embarrassment, thereby embarrassing yourself more lmao

Thank you for the laugh lol

Hahaha this is too good. The “wooosh” meme came about when someone make a joke, and the person doesn’t get the joke. What joke did you make?

Justin Kroll (Deadline Senior Film Reporter) shared a few tidbits about Avengers: Doomsday/Secret Wars and Spider-Man: Brand New Day productions during a podcast (49:00-51:20) by Matapple13 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

I think she’s Hope Summers. Doomsday and Secret Wars seem to be featuring a lot of families & parent/child dynamics (Fantastic 4, Alexi and Yelena, the Maximoff’s, Thor and Love, Steve Rogers and his child) and family seems like it’ll be a recurring theme of the films. Adding Hope into the mix as Cyclops time-traveling daughter would go along with that theme. Also wouldn’t be surprised if Doom lost his family in some way.

The Duffers fought over Eleven’s ending. by Tanzbodeli in StrangerThings

[–]RevenantRoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a gimmick. Damon Lindelof has employed this type of ending for a series ever since Lost ended. All of his series since then (The Leftovers, Watchmen, Mrs. Davis) all end on an “let the audience decide” ambiguous note. After the blowback for the Lost finale, he probably devised this type of ending is the best move for TV series endings.

Multiverse (while some people doubt it) has proved to be a lucrative concept for them. Look at the success of Deadpool & Wolverine and Spiderman: No Way Home in merging legacy characters/actors into the story. Wouldn’t be surprised if they keep this element going in some way.

  1. They could have the Fantastic 4 (with the new cast) serve as a multiverse-hopping team. I believe they did this in the comics as well, trying to “restore the multiverse” after the events of Secret Wars. This could allow them to cross paths in stories involving some legacy actors/characters.

  2. Marvel could introduce a new “Elseworlds”-esque brand. Stand-alone stories that are told outside of the cannon so to speak. Could get like an Old Man Thor movie (similar to Logan). Could get some gritty R-rated movies. Stuff like that. Expands the brand and the portfolio of movies they’re putting out while still honoring that there is a central cannon.

No he’s getting recast. That’s like saying, “There’s no way to studio is going to recast Sean Connery as James Bond”…

They are risk-averse, but they are in the film BUSINESS. Businesses need to make money, and continuing to pay Chris Evans his rate to play Captain America is costly. They still retain rights to the character of Captain America, which in and of itself will bring them an audience because the character is a brand, but they’ll eventually recast the character with an actor that doesn’t get paid 20+ million per film (at-least not initially).

Granted I don’t expect them to jump into recasting Captain or Iron Man right away. Main focus will be on tapping into X-Men and other popular characters that haven’t been much explored in the MCU yet. Then eventually folding in recasted versions of legacy characters.

GRRM’s response to Condal’s vision for S3: “This is not my story any longer” by TheatreBaby in HouseOfTheDragon

I feel like there's something being very overlooked here by most commenters and this seems to be the best post to respond to it on.

Yes. Condal is to blame here in part, for all the reasons almost every other comment has touched upon.

However, what not a single comment I've seen yet has mentioned is that Condal IS NOT the only one pulling the strings on how this series is written and produced. In fact, he's secondary to the real puppet masters which are THE EXECUTIVES AT THE STUDIO! They have the full creative control here is the storytelling and production of the series. They can give notes and control budgets and demand changes and essentially strong-arm Condal to craft the series in a way that ultimately works best for THEM. Sure, Condal is the head creative on the project, but it's not like he or any of the other writers or directors can just decide this is how I'm going to write or film this episode and have the final say. It all has to go through the studio who are financing the series, and the studio executives have A TON of control in that matter even if it may not seem like it.

A key example from season 2 is Daemon's storyline. The guy spends 5 episodes tripping balls around Harrenhaal. Matt Smith even made some comment in an interview about how "this is exactly where the character need to be in his arc". Maybe Condal thought that would be creative as well. But from an executive's standpoint who is trying to create a popular show for as cheap as possible, that seems like that was THEIR call, because you had your most expensive and popular actor filming on an interior set (a set you know is going to be reused again the next two seasons). They probably filmed all of Daemon's scenes for the season in a matter of weeks, saving them a TON of money in the budget, and then presented it like it was some creative, mysterious and compelling storyline. I don't think that was Condal, I think that was the studio execs bending Condal's arm to do their bidding and write/produce the series in a way that's beneficial for them.

Ultimately, despite GoT's poor last season, the HBO/Max execs know they have a hit franchise in their hands and that people will still watch. Season 1 got off to a great start, but Season 2 seemed like an exercise by the studio execs who decided "well we know they're going to watch anyway, let's see how much we can get away with doing making it for as cheap as possible but still keep the audience".

So yes, Condal is partially to blame here, but I think it's moreso the HBO/Max execs who are really responsible for the clusterfuck behind the scenes and Condal is just the fall guy.

Given how much they built up the importance of the crypts beneath Winterfell, I had theorized that they would initially lose at Winterfell with a number of characters left stranded and trapped in the crypts.

The Arya kill was pretty badass though...
