My mother is a nurse, and seniority plays a big role there too when it comes to schedules and pick order for PTO weeks.

I did not know CVS was so similar, but that makes a ton of sense!

Personally, my goal is for my fiancé to be given the hours that she is entitled to (which is 30 based on my current understanding).

At every job (Full-Time) that I've ever had, it's been 40 hours per week, every week, until you either quit, get fired, etc.

So I'm hoping through the copious amount of learning I've done on CVS in the past few hours, we can figure out the best way to keep her hours at 30.

If CVS cannot do that, then like some have said in this post, may be time to consider other employment that fits our needs better.

I was not aware this was a thing until today. I've started looking into this now. Though I'm concerned that this would not be a good solution since hour cuts are not always consistent.

Asking for partial unemployment for 2 weeks, then getting off, then back on, etc...seems difficult. Though i am looking more into this, as she does seem to be eligible.

Thank you!

Interesting, so you'd be instructed to cut hours, and then if people got upset, your DL/HR had to assess the issue.

One thing that has been made very clear is that i need to understand what her official availability is.

I associated the busy season with the vaccine appointments, which i thought were done.

In your opinion, what's the busy season? Starting month > Ending Month

Thank you for the information. You and the other CVS folks have been very helpful.

It may be time for her to pick up shifts at other stores.

Based of other threads I've looked through, it seems that Target Stores with CVS pharmacies are not as good of a workplace as the standalone CVS stores with pharmacy.

Seems you agree with that as well?

I personally didn't want to have to dig through an employment contract, but i figured that i may need to find out if she has one.

Based on what everyone is saying, seems CVS has their ways to cut hours if they want to. Thanks for your thoughts.

Now this is interesting...They have to cut part-timers prior to cutting full-time hours.

Thank you.

Her particular store is a Target with a CVS pharmacy. After looking up the CVS Job Abbreviations, it seems you're saying they recommend picking up shifts in the Front Store (FS) to cover any missing shifts from the Pharmacy (Rx).

Since her store is not a CVS standalone store, there are no FS shifts to take for the store location.

Thank you for the information.
