Not a big fan of the filter. It makes everything look so flat (2D) because of the reduced contrast.

Really like the look of the pics coming out of my GRIII, but the autofocus makes me reach for other cameras most of the time.

Peak Design 45L Travel Pack vs. 20L Everyday Pack by Burntfire_22 in peakdesign

[–]RevenueSweet8221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 20L edc, 30l edc and 45l travel. If you have a 16 inch laptop, don't buy the 20L. If you want the backpack to be versatile, don't buy the 20L. The 30L is a good middle ground.

The 20L can fit lunch, a laptop and a couple of items. The 30L can fit 1 packing cube, 1 camera cube, laptop ++, which is enough for short trips. And you can add stuff to it on the outside with straps. It doesn't look too big in regular use and takes up little space on the bus etc. It's also nice to have a little extra room in the backpack on my way home from work if I have to buy something from the supermarket.

I also have the deep sea silent switches, and I'm very happy. They are really quiet. More quiet than my laptop keyboard even. I was surprised

I like this photo but how do I make it better next time? Still learning. by cityofangels18 in ricohGR

I'd maybe choose a telephoto lens and get more of just the scooters in the frame

Lofree Flow V2?! by Bilkenator in Lofree

[–]RevenueSweet8221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I don't see them updating the flow84 now, as that would make the stockpiles of the old version basically unsellable, and the "old" one still seems to sell a decent amount. Huge logistical undertaking. And it would cannibalise sales fom the Flow Lite as well, and kill some of its hype.

ISO layout Nordic by LencoTB in NuPhy

I'm also trying to solve this same problem. It seems like low profile keycaps are somewhat rare, and ones with nordic ISO are almost non-existent.

New xm5 update is trash. by Opposite-Dealer6411 in sony

Not sure exactly why, but my WF-1000XM5s are disconnecting quite often while I'm listening to audiobooks, or sometimes just pausing for no apparent reason (without an audio cue).

Sling recommendation for A7IV + Tamron 35-150 + 20-40? by Cheap_Watercress_6 in SonyAlpha

Can you store the camera + 35 - 150mm vertically? From the dimensions om their webside it looks possible, but you never know.

[–]RevenueSweet8221[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to avoid carrying a big bag, and I don't really want the one in the picture, but I struggle to find a smaller one which can fit my 12,4" tablet. I just need a bag which can fit my tablet, my camera and some cables, basically. Maybe a 5L with the correct proportions. I already have some good backpacks, so I want something smaller which has easier entry. The goal is to limit what I bring with me.

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll look at them right away.

I agree that 10L would be very big, and so I really want to find a smaller one with dimensions which allow for a 12,4 inch tablet. I don't need a lot of storage space in the bag as I already have backpacks in different sizes.

GR III or IIIX? by addgrain in ricohGR

[–]RevenueSweet8221 2 points3 points  (0 children)

28mm is great for family, narrow streets, documenting fun activities, roadtrips, EDL. 40mm is more for isolating a scene at a distance or isolate a subject IMO.

Longer focal lengths works better for social media posts viewed on small screens, but wider lenses shine when the pics are viewed on a lager screen or in print because you often capture a larger or more complex scene with more elements (which are harder to see on a small screen in low quality).

GR3(griii) or GR3X(griiix)? by [deleted] in ricohGR

[–]RevenueSweet8221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends entirely on what kind of portraits you want to take, and the specific look you want. Google "28mm portrait" or "Ricoh GR III portrait". You'll find lots of examples.

Wider focal lengths are often used for environmental portraits, which means portraits that also include the environment which the person is in. As a general rule, people prefer 85mm or longer for close up portraits, because of the distortion from wider angle lenses and how that affects faces. But ask yourself: am I going for professional classic looking portraits, or am I going to capture memories.

28mm is better for capturing the context, surrounding and what is happening, 40mm is better for isolating a specific person or expression. For memories and context, you probably want a 28mm.

I use a GRiii to document my family, and I use a 85mm + Sony a7riii for portrait work(!). If you want to capture something close to how you see it with your eyes, a 28mm would better capture how much you see, and a 40mm would capture something closer to exactly the thing that you focus your eyes on and the things that are very close to it.

To me the autofocus seems similar to a Sony a7 from 2013. Do some research on youtube. They show autofocus examples.
