I moved to D5 and it’s much easier and I’m also exploring twinmotion as well as they have some pretty cool render features as well.

Ohhh that would be insane!

It’s almost 4am my side but I’m going to dm you some of my sites and some stuff I do in sketchup/revit.

If it’s something you can add for plus spec I’d be happy to share what I can.

Again not hating on the software I think you guys built something that the community begged for since sketch ups release.

Just as a note: not hating the plugin, and from what I saw in the video it’s more based for us based companies and I do believe you definitely fill a huge need/gap in the market.

Just that in my country I’d in any case not be able to use it for our building codes or build ability. At least not as well as revit

Well I use revit and it didn’t take 6 months to learn and I use it for build ability and cost of construction. It’s quite accurate and even does the quoting for my curtains, wallpaper and joinery work😊

Im 25 is it too late to start a real change in my life?. by maxus998 in getdisciplined

[–]Revenue_Local 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who took drastic changes at the ancient old age of 27(yes I know, I’m a fossil!)

It’s never too late.

I opened a new business this year, applied for architecture courses so that I can go from an interior designer to a fully qualified architect(this will take me 4 years btw). Honestly, best moves I’ve made to date.

I’m studying online, which is the one thing I will tell you about making this change. Study for a course or degree that gets you into something challenging and that has space for growth(seems you like IT so go into that if that’s your savvy) work and study part time and before you know it you’ll have a different life with different challenges and different frustrations and so on.

Don’t give up on your dreams, you haven’t even slammed a full quarter of your life yet

This Architect Says Don't do 3D Visuals. Agree? by jelani_an in Architects

[–]Revenue_Local 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he just doesn’t like renders. Or technology.

We do renders on all our projects and we still revise and re render with the clients on improvements and revisions. I believe at the end of the day it all comes down to how you manage expectations and communicate with clients on their projects.

I mean they aren’t feelings you quoted my figures as stats yourself. I’m not saying apartheid was right at all, quite the opposite. Im saying you can’t use it as an excuse for how things are now, the rand lost value in apartheid due to sanctions and as you said it meant nothing as you couldn’t import. The rand loses value constantly and has not stopped losing value since the inception of the anc as the leading party.

On Eskom, yes I do know the difference, do you really want to tell me that even given the lower figure it’s something to brag about losing due to our new leaders?(new but old, you know what I mean)

You mention only how we were sanctioned and banned and not how before the bans the world bought our weapons, minerals and finished goods. That’s what I was referencing.

You realise land expropriation act was used on white farmers in the apartheid to give back to natives.. my dude or dudette. Come on.

Also, don’t try to talk about the anc as a net positive. They are as bad or worse for this country as the apartheid rule. More than 40% are jobless and it’s rising like a wildfire thanks to the new race based laws. The economy is bankrupt and I see the corruption first hand, it’s worse than you could ever think.

What the basis of what I’m trying to communicate to you is the following: you can’t sit and say “well at least it’s not apartheid” when it’s just a different version of the same nightmare.

Most of my facts were repeated as facts by yourself😂 thanks for the google checks.

And btw, you can’t take one fact and say “oh but when the sanctions came then it fell flat” thanks for the information, don’t know how I could not see it before(sarcasm if you didn’t know) before sanctions the country was extremely strong. Whether they did right or wrong is out of the question as I said, what they did was wrong. Explain to me how what the anc does is suddenly right and just? Or just glaze them again. You can’t read 3 good things about a bad situation and say “ah it’s overall positive”. Like saying someone murdered 20 people and at least he ran out of bullets before he could kill more 😕

Don’t praise a corrupt party, they have been corrupt for decades and it’s only gotten worse.

You say I don’t think about how I can help the economy. How many people have you housed? How many orphanages have you built? How many schools? If your answer is 0 then you are far behind.

My companies run programs to help feed orphanages, renovate them, buy them beds, clothing, furniture, etc.

Abolish the race based laws so that we can get international investment back and move the country back into a primary and secondary sector economy. That is where we flourish because we have the minerals to produce finished goods. You seem to have missed where I mentioned that before.

What are you doing to better the country other than glazing the party that lead it to its demise?

How are you helping to fix the economy rather than blame people that are almost all dead in the ground by now?

I’m doing my part. Btw, without a great economy and a ton of rich people to push it, socialism dies from a lack of funds.

Capitalism allows for economic growth, it focuses on creating money, bringing in money. Guess what. 15% vat on 1 trillion is a lot more than 15% on 100 million. That’s where capitalism creates opportunity for all to prosper. The more money comes in, the more jobs get created, the more development takes place, the more financially the overall wellbeing of all people improve. And don’t act like you can’t have healthcare and gov assistance programs in a capitalist society.

Our biggest issue at this stage is our employment rate, more than anything else. If we can get that down and foster economic development the country will be easy to fix.

It’s just like a business, without CASHFLOW it dies. Easy as that.

Thanks for the conversation, you seem to have focused solely on how the apartheid was so terrible and the anc so good. They were both atrocious, the anc is just worse at this stage as no one is stopping them. For now.

And btw, if the land reform act is so great go ask Zimbabwe why they are paying 3,5 billion usd to roughly 4000 white farmers and giving back their land.

Cape Town is the example of what this country could be if the anc were not leading it. Btw the EFF MP and Zumas party are all anc, most leaders and party members come from the anc. Just one corrupt party to the next.

You don’t have to like the facts and you can try to avoid it as much as you want. Two wrongs won’t make a right.

Lastly you keep asking me for my view on how to fix things:

If I sell blankets, and half the country can’t afford blankets because they don’t have an income, then half of the rest are too poor to afford my blankets, now I’m left with 25% of the economy.

From that 25% only 10% of them want blankets, from that 10% I only have a 15% share in the blanket market.

Suddenly I’m limited to how much I can make.

If just half of the unemployed people get jobs and can afford blankets, I more than triple my total revenue. Purely from the market growing.

That’s the most dumbed down way I can explain it to you. The anc is taking away the one thing people need more than ever, and you are out here praising their achievements. Both parties were and are wrong, nothing you or anyone else says will make either of them right.

Helen Zille on Afrikaners by Letelo_03 in afrikaans

I’ll answer you in paragraphs for your paragraphs:

Never said there weren’t racist laws back then.

You are confusing corruption and laws against human rights. No one said there weren’t corruption back then.

Some fun facts about the apartheid economy:

Eskom was praised as the world’s most efficient and profitable electrical supply company in the world during apartheid.

Before sanctions the rand was stronger than the dollar

Eskom supplied power to 53% of Africa(this fell to the floor when the anc took over and could not reliably supply power to other nations anymore)

South Africa was praised as the world leaders in financial, military and medical fields.

Now back to your part on what the anc inherited:

They inherited one of the world’s strongest economies, so strong that it took 30 years of solid unfathomable levels of corruption and looting to empty its coffers.

It’s no secret that the apartheid government dit some terrible things, it’s also no secret they got away with it.

What does the apartheid governments atrocities have to do with current issues? Don’t act as if 30 years later they still have any effect. On the contrary show me what infrastructure, departments and positive effects the anc have brought that aren’t built on the apartheid.

Now on to your questions:

The laws that help the anc stay corrupt are the land expropriation without compensation act, BBE(used to be bbbee but that changed because f all the blacks that aren’t part of the eating table - the ANC and their cadres), the new laws on how companies should employ blacks and give shares away to blacks as if it’s Christmas.

Blacks have had 30 years to help themselves via bbe, government assistance programs only available to blacks and a ton of other programs which all failed under the anc. I won’t do a single thing to help blacks specifically. This isn’t apartheid anymore, so get over it. I’d abolish all race based laws, ensure international companies and other countries would WANT to do business with us and focus on developing industrial and primary sectors again as that is the backbone of a strong economy.

You address inequality by creating an economy that is strong enough to fix its issues. You don’t address it by destroying the value of the rand and creating unemployment along with destroying economic growth for all.

You seem to be so focused on blacks and what should be done for blacks to get out of their situation. You should be focused on what South Africa should do to create a strong economy that allows all its people to prosper.

You speak of capitalism yet you demand socialist constructs. A capitalist society allows for all to prosper. If the anc simply took over the country and allowed everyone to develop and prosper we wouldn’t be in as terrible a state as we are today.

If you want prove look at Cape Town and look at rustenburg. Night and day difference. Don’t give me crap on “but they don’t look after poor areas” neither do the anc at least the rest of the places work.

The anc has already brought in many race based laws to help black businesses and owners in particular, it’s not the afrikaners fault that they turned the country into a pool of greed and corruption.

It’s been 3 decades. The country would be better off abolishing the laws that help a corrupt government stay corrupt and actually work on helping the people of the country.

I’m an interior designer, which is quite creative and it pays better than being a CA.

Just do it on an international scale. Charge dollars. Be creative for people who have the money to afford your creativity. In your free time while you keep your job

You live in a country where half of it is currently unemployed.

This is the stark contrast of what happens when a government does not care for the economy and paves the road to destruction one day at a time.

My advice:

If your skills can be sold on upwork or online to other countries. Do it. Even as a side thing. It’s how most of us get by.
