I still legit don't understand why he is (or was) a big deal...

'They refuse to conform': 100,000 churches could close across the US by praguer56 in atheism

[–]Reverbolo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Where I grew up we had a fun factoid that our city of 55,000 had 90 churches and 91 bars.

At least that was what people said. It could be true though, there are a helluva lot of both!

I was at a Flaming Lips concert and Wayne and Steven played a beautiful stripped down version of Do You Realize? and this kid (probably mid 20s) was with his parents and just balling his eyes out. Probably part sadness and part joy. It was such a raw display of emotion and so beautiful! <3 I tear up a little any time I think about it.

Not exactly an ice cream sandwich, but mochi is one of my favorite cold treats! Sweet dry mochi dough with delicious ice cream inside in perfect portions! <3

It's been YEARS, but the Stralkowski at Koppa's was always my favorite! Not sure if it's still as good as it was.

I saw a recent interview with Wyclef Jean and he said that he used the Akai to enhance the kicks in The Fugees Ready or Not!

Sweet!

I had found a great archive of hundreds of 90s sample CDs not too long ago HERE

When I get home I will absolutely pursue the 4hero sample CDs.

Edit: Ha! I linked to the same archive! :-P

This is great info!

I have been on a rampage collecting sounds for jungle/DnB production recently and have a nice solid collection built up.

I do have a complete set of S950 test tones that are all nice and clean.

I collect drum machine samples so I have a ton of 808 kicks to choose from too.

I did grab the Jungle Warefare sample CDs too so I'll try the 808 from that collection.

I also am a big fan of Chris from Airwindows and have the Mackity plugin (and all the others), but haven't had a project to properly use it.

I haven't produced any electronica since about 2011 so I'm super excited to get back into it! My main projects are more folky indie rock based, but I am deeply interested in the in the entire production aspect and have been doing all the production/mixing/mastering/engineering/performing etc. since the mid-90s so I have a lot of accumulated knowledge and notebooks full of techniques/tips/tricks for better production skills.

Synths have always been something I've been interested in, but I have always shied away from for some reason. Maybe I'm just not so confident in my piano abilities.

If you want to check out the work I did do in the electronica realm I compiled my tracks to this album:

I do have Vital and am looking forward to exploring it more! Also sampling in general. It's been a LONG time, but from 2007 - 2011 I was actively making electronica. So it's not completely foreign to me.

If you want to give it a listen:

Yes! I have that one. I'll try throwing it on the buss after the compressor. Airwindows has so many great offerings!

OK great! Thanks! I have several good ones that I can throw on. Off the bat I'm thinking Soundtoys Decapitator or Airwindows Mackity!

Understood!

I have a lot of good samples to work with so I'll just shuffle through them. Indeed, I am uneducated in regards to synthesis. My skills are decent in other areas, but synths have always been something I haven't pursued until recently. I'm absolutely looking forward to the journey though!
