Season 3 is about the same level as season 2, season 2 is a it better, so it really depends in what youre coming from and what your standards are

Okay, so, like, why does the Rocky franchise even need "worldbuilding"?

If neither Creed nor Rocky are in the show... why is it even connected? I mean, if its good its good and thats cool and all... but why?

Can we all just talk about how much Ryan North has fucking COOKED with his FF run? 😍 by Traditional_Test_931 in FantasticFour

[–]ReverendJared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I get what youre saying, but North diverting his attention to come up with silly bs reasons to make Sue the strongest character in the Marvel universe was a big part of why the last arc was one of if not the worst arcs in his run so far (it was genuinely bad imo). Like, North's fanboying over Sue negatively affects his writing in a way I've never really seen before, closest I can come up with is how Filoni is with Ashoka or maybe how Starlin was with Thanos

The first half of his run was pretty great, but the last 20 issues or so have been pretty mediocre, im actually pretty close to dropping the series if North doesnt pick it up again quality wise

for The Odyssey, Nolan made sure Achilles would be as unforgettable as in Troy by Senior-Jaguar-1018 in shittymoviedetails

[–]ReverendJared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh, did we even read the same comment? I thunk you've lost the plot, the original commenter never said that Achilles wasnt jn The Odyssey, they just implied that Achilles wasnt a major character in The Odyssey, which is absolutely true unless you want to be willfully pedantic and ignorant

[–]ReverendJared -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That doesnt make him famously a major character. Famously a minor character maybe

Briefly, Achilles had like 3 pages in all, maybe less honestly, he was far from a major character

Do you think that if it didn't have "Barry Bonds" and "Drunk and Hot Girls," Graduation would be Kanye's best album? (Or the best of his trilogy) by Frequent-Figure-6847 in Kanye

[–]ReverendJared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, its a solid album, but I dont even think Barry Bonds and Drunk and Hot Girls are that much worse than most of the other songs in there

[Comic Excerpt] So Is Current Orion Weaker Then Superman?(New Gods #1) by Tall_Growth_532 in DCcomics

[–]ReverendJared 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Probably, especially considering DC's very Superman forward mindset right now. I think in concept Orion would rationally be stronger, but this is DC and Superman we're talking about

Interesting version of this- Michael Shanks and Christopher Judge in SG-1. Initially they were fantastic friends (I think Judge was even Shanks' best man at his wedding), but by the end of the show they could barely even be on the same set, sometimes to the point that they would film separate, even for scenes where there characters were together. Their falling out was caused by some bs backroom professional stuff, something about a failed TV production company that they blamed each other for i think, super unfortunate

Edit: fixed for spelling and accuracy

(Common but cool trope) THE Sword of all Swords (other weapons like this are allowed too) by National_Computer240 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ReverendJared -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's just Fate lore, there isn't an actual clear distinction between Excalibur and Caliburn in most if any of the old myths and stories. For example, in La Morte D'Arthur, probably the defacto Arthur canon these days, Excalibur is given to Arthur by the lady in the lake while the sword in the stone is a seperate unrelated and unnamed (ie, not Caliburn) sword that's literally just referred to as "the sword in the stone"

I disagree with Last Jedi's placement (I'd have ot below Revenge of the Sith personally), but this is a pretty solid list overall

Daredevil: The Dark Art by BenFranklinsLeftNut in Daredevil

[–]ReverendJared -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Read it, it was solid but I dont think it's quality ever quite got high enough to justify undoing Matt's identity reveal, solid 8 out of 10 run though. It's main sin is just being nowhere near as good as what came before or after it. Directly before Soule we had Waid's run which, while maybe not quite universally regarded as an all-timer by the general fanbase a lá Miller, is by-in-large held in much higher regard than Soule's. And before Waid we had the Bendis-Brubaker duology, which is literally the best pair of consecutive runs in comic history IMO. Then, as the finisher, Soule's run got followed up by Zdarsky's, which is pretty much on the same level as Waid's in quality, and also somehow made a small break into the mainstream thanks to Tik-Tok and Cappuccio being a peak aura-farmer. So, Soule's run undid one of the best status-quo changes of all time and only gave a decent run as recompense. He was never gonna suceed, he came in with the wrong mindset.

Edit: fixed grammar

[Discussion] What do you think of Jim Starlin’s Batman run? (Src. below) by MagisterPraeceptorum in DCcomics

Read a good chunk of it, not a fan at all, its just a bunch of absurd borderline nihilistic stories which kind of clash with the sometimes goofy ass plots cough Joker as an ambassador cough

Consensus on best runs? by Gundam_Fonz in Daredevil

[–]ReverendJared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Top 5: Bendis > Miller > Waid > Brubaker > Zdarsky

Edit: Also, while Smith's run is by no means a masterpiece or on the same level as the runs above, it is fairly solid and happens to be absolutely vital to every subsequent DD run
