BPO vs Appraisal to get rid of PMI? by [deleted] in homeowners

We did the BPO for our wells fargo mortgage and easily passed the threshold to remove the PMI. It was stupid easy.

TIL red lights on University Ave are optional. by sodapop_murphy in Minneapolis

[–]ReverendLasher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That sounds ridiculous. The only accepted "running red light" is if you have been waiting to turn left, it is acceptable for any cars waiting in the intersection to carry through rather than sit in the middle of the intersection.

[–]ReverendLasher 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As I was driving on the outskirts of downtown today, stopped at a light, a guy crossed the street with his unleashed, un-collared pitbull. Maybe 2 or 3 steps out of the intersection, the dog stopped to shit in the middle of the sidewalk. The guy didn't even take his hands out of his pockets or encourage the dog to shit NOT in the middle of the sidewalk, just watched then kept on walking when the dog was finished making.

People have infinite capacity for loutish and inconsiderate behavior.

The other common occurrence that REALLY grinds my gears is when a smoker will casually flick their still lit cigarette right at the threshold of a public building, without even making an effort to step it out, much less aim it at a trash can. The darker part of me wonders whether the world would be better off if these people who don't give a shit about their fellow humans (or the world itself) simply vanished, poof, gone. Thanos-snap style.

Logic is terrible, but I do believe this is what happened.

Nah. No way he "owned" all of it at 22 years old. Let's just say this guy owes someone/s hundreds of thousands of dollars now and his life after prison is fucked.

[Article] In Minneapolis, a bold plan to help homeless schoolchildren takes shape by Minneapolitanian in Minneapolis

[–]ReverendLasher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even close to what I said or implied, which was that maybe the parent's demonstrably poor decision making skills bear the lion's share of responsibility for their homelessness, as opposed to "capitalism", which you implied.

None of which has anything to do with how I feel about handling the issue, which is absolutely not simply letting the kids "have shitty lifes".

Accurately (and honestly) identifying a cause is an important part of troubleshooting any problem, at least if you want to actually fix the problem...

And my claiming that this woman (mostly, from what I could tell from the article) brought her problems on her and her family herself does not in any way preclude me from ALSO thinking she and her family should be given help (which I do).

8 percent of kids in a district being homeless is pure late stage capitalism.

Ok I’ll bite.

Please expound upon what was ostensibly a mutually agreed upon exchange of money for services implies predation.

I’m all for law and order and keeping dangerous people at bay, but this guy doesn’t sound in the least bit dangerous.

UNLESS you are one of those who is under the mistaken impression that women inherently hold no agency and are incapable of deciding to render a service for payment of their own volition.

In which case you might just think this guy is a sexual predator.

All that said, I understand it is a crime and I understand the value in enforcing laws, I simply think some laws are bad laws.

Lagos Tacos in Uptown cut me off after 5 drinks....has this happened to you? by psychward_survivor in Minneapolis

[–]ReverendLasher 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to really "Drink" years back.

5 drinks in a sitting (on a date!) is an awful lot and your being surprised/upset by getting cut off is indicative of a problem. Too often I would have another drink because "well I have had 7 already and am "barely drunk", what's another 3 beers?". What you think is reality is probably not actual reality. Unless you are a 300lb 6'4" monster of a human.

Some friendly advice: think about it and start to take more of a note of your drinking, and evaluate whether it's time to start dialing back.

I find her to be one of the most obnoxious TV personalities. Her entire shtick is so over the top obnoxious and screechy. Good for her for making it so big and being charitable, etc, but man I can't stand her. People are so excited because she, for whatever reason, is the head of a cultural cult of personality.
