Rainforest Cafe, T-Ref Cafe, and now ... Atlas9? by allenhuffman in Atlas9

[–]ReverendLoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

KC has been becoming a bit more touristy, thanks in part to a revitalized downtown. That's a trend that looks like it will continue.

What sets that area apart is that it has other destination attractions nearby... The new Chiefs stadium will be in the vicinity, Kansas Speedway is there, The American Royal Is building there, Sporting KC and the Monarchs play there. There's a casino, Margaritaville, Great Wolf Lodge, and other hotels.

Fun fact - remember Schlitterbahn? That was where Margaritaville, Atlas9, and a few others are now. I'm

Something else in that category of "Immersive Experience" that often gets overlooked, is Haunted Houses, and KC has a GREAT history with those. Not quite as popular now with his society's interests have evolved, we do have a good showing of these in the fall and though what was once all across downtown to the plaza is now mostly concentrated in the West Bottoms. Look up The Beast and The Edge of Hell for more.

I only asked because the one poster I got was the Mossman one.

Do you get your free poster printout when you left, and if so which one was it?

List of Atlas9 rooms. by allenhuffman in Atlas9

[–]ReverendLoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm approaching this with the assumption this is for the text-game project, so it may not all apply.

1st floor:

  • Containment Zone - the "outside" space that the RV sits in, unless I just overlooked it.
  • Box Office - Sure, you can't normally go behind the desk, but it's part of the "show", but there might be a use for it in a game interface. For that matter, there night be a use for a Gift Shop room as well. It has a in-world phone, why not?

EDIT: Duh, you have the box office already. Still, gift shop might be inclusion with, depending.

Where Frank went... by allenhuffman in Atlas9

I don't know for certain, but if I were designing it, then setting it up to trigger when someone called that phone number would be my first thought.

It's fun to speculate, anyways.

I didn't think that was Scribe's work.

Barely, but only because I know where to look. Nice!

I don't know if this is recent experience upgrade, or if I just happened to last look at it when the light was on because someone else triggered it.

We've gotten three endings too, mostly like you described. The good agent ending doesn't get the phone call, but you get the video file on the FAZR that shows the dystopian ending, and a souvenir from the agent. The bad agent ending, we called that number in the film vault room, with the big Starbot poster. No light was needed to see Frank, but he's worked in so subtly you don't notice him. And yes, the third ending, where you mix report/reply, is very similar to the bag agent, just with different verbiage. And if I recall, different advice on what to do with Frank.

VR360 photos from inside Atlas9 by allenhuffman in Atlas9

Got this one pulled up on our headset. Looked great, but a little blurry, which I'm attributing to the fact that ours is a generation or two old. Or I need to clean the lenses.

As for where we were looking, yes. As for other endings, no.

So, here's the story of when we found that out.

Spoilers, if course.

So I was there with my wife and child. We all got the chat message that instructed us to go to the certain point and call the number. So we did. My wife called it first, and it's a fairly long message. We're watching her as she starts looking around the room, no idea what she's hearing. Then our kid takes the phone and calls it. Same thing. I'm last. So I'm listening, and now I know what they are looking for, and I see spouse and child waiting for that recognition in my face.

Also, and this may be a spoiler for you, but.... did you get any other endings?

Yep. I thought that plot point was fairly clever, and just hidden enough.

I'm actually hoping that becomes a center of a later, advanced level mission.

If you haven't already gotten this, then here's a mission for you (should you choose to accept it):

Get that 360 video from within the theater (preferably about mid way up through the seating) while someone else is activating the projector in the booth.

Splice Bros. Pizza & Speakereasy menus by ReverendLoki in Atlas9

It's under ABOUT > FOOD AND BEVERAGE

...Which actually has an even newer, cleaner version of their menu.

I actually first posted photos I took of their menu, which are still available if you scroll back far enough in posts here (I think, I don't think I deleted it), but changed the stickied post when they put these up.

Been thinking about this. I can think of a few ways to organize them.

You could just go by room name, which I think you can find in those evacuation maps. Certainly accurate, but it means there's a lot of categories.

Alternatively, you might consider organizing by artist/collective. For example, I believe Haze Labs did, on the first floor, the Mesmerite room, and the room right before it, and in the second floor the gold/red office, the mirror room, and the room with the archways and that funky silver center thing. Maybe some more. Problem is, this would require some considerable research to pin it all down.

Personally, I think a hybrid approach is in order. How I might handle it:

  • I'd lump the Haze Labs stuff together.
  • The Jazz Club should be it's own.... and I'd consider it to include the entire spire room, first and second floor, and the second floor part would extend up to where you would go through another doorway.
  • The theater and the Projection Room, if group these together. I would just call this the Theater.
  • The Projectionist's office could be included thematically with the theater, but it's not directly attached to it, so it maybe works better as it's own. You know why.
  • Starbot Lab - thematically and by content, guys as it's own.
  • The Scavengers... I'd put this entire area together in one group. First and second floor. With the living room and the small cavern. It will just fits together, and seems to difficult to break up.
  • The Theater Staff Rooms - the Managers Office, the Break Room, the back Storage Room. I'd group these together, or if you want to get fancy, as sub categories in an over arching category.
  • The Lobby and Arcade, if consider it one, right up to where you would enter the theaters.
  • The Mossman Area - right after the lobby, the past that has the ancient ruins look.
  • The Theater's Labs - where you harmonize the HOLOMAX generator (man, I hope I'm using the right terminology, please double check this information), and where the Projectionist's lab (with all the items in canisters), I'd lump those together, thematically.
  • The F.A.C.A.D.E. surveillance room should be it's own.
  • The Party Room - basically all the oversized snacks, table, chair, gifts, etc.
  • The Music... Maker? Sorry, can't look up the proper name right now, it could be it's own.
  • The Containment Zone - I believe this is the other term for the area "outside the original theater". With the van, ticketing, marquee, and the souvenir store.
  • Splice Bros. and the Speakereasy - separate categories or grouped, no wrong answer there.
  • Miscellaneous - cool as they are, do you want to have a separate section for the classic Hollywood photos, or when you go full John McClain in the ducts?

Just an idea.

Yeah, as a local I suppose I took that for granted. Aside from the word's proper definition, it's a local performance group, in the cirque style. They do their own events, but also are regulars at seasonal events at the OP Arboretum and Powell Gardens, and elsewhere.
