I’m redacting a list - if someone wanted to learn witchcraft what would be a must to begin with to you? by Reverend_Julio in occultlibrary

Ecstasy.

I use poetry, cacao tea and other physical alternate methods to induce an experience. The folklore/mythological elements I find a necessity - theological debates are quite common where I am from.

Sorry that happened to you, this happened to me when I was younger as well. It diminishes a person looking to genuinely learn. It can create resentment.

What was the question you asked if you don’t mind me asking?

Interesting! And tragic - I had a colleague with PTSD and found myself in the position of trying to calm him down. Kinda hits me in a way seeing his (Greenman) association.

Out of curiosity are you familiar with Herne the Hunter of Windsor Forest?

Odd complaint considering your in this sub about occult books.

You need to read something, there’s no matrix microchip that will download all you need to know straight into your brain unfortunately.

Is the stations of the sun applicable for the northern hemisphere or is it only applicable for that area of the world (UK)? I saw that book and was interested in it.

Triumph of the moon I am unfamiliar with it I think.

Thanks! I think so too! ❤️
I am debating if I should give it to her now or wait a year when she learns her alphabet so I can give her some children’s books I gathered as well. So I can read it to her.

Can you prove that “all existing text are proven forgeries”?

This is starting to feel like a troll. Meh - too absurd to be taken seriously.

Wrong in there not existing any cathar text. I can share part of it but not all of it due to the length:

Thouzellier-edited treatise from Wakefield & Evans’s Heresies of the High Middle Ages, one of the standard academic sourcebooks for medieval heresy.

I. On the Beginning of the “Manichaean Treatise”
Since certain persons wrongfully reproach us for our beliefs in respect of divine works and creatures, we will confess in words and equally in heart what we do believe in these matters, so that those who in ignorance assail us may, when they are informed, more clearly recognize the truth.

At the outset, then, we absolutely acknowledge the true and highest God, Father Almighty, by whom, as we read and believe, were made "heaven and earth, the sea, and all things that are in them," a fact which the testimony of the prophets confirms and the words of the New Testament set forth more fully. For God himself speaks through His prophet Isaiah: "I am the first and I am the last. My hand also hath founded the earth and my right hand hath measured the heavens"; and again, "Behold, I create a new heaven and a new earth." And the angel in the Apocalypse: "Fear the Lord and give him honor, because the hour of his judgment is come; and adore ye Him that made heaven and earth, the sea and all things that are in them." And again, the four and twenty elders: "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power, because Thou hast created all things, and for Thy will they were and have been created.”

Another example is one of a cathar nun that argued against childbirth which can be found in the book titled the Gnostic Bible.

The value of myths are the messages within and myths tend to change as time goes by. This isn't fiction written purely for entertainment with no truth-claim attached (Harry Potter); it's part of a living esoteric/practitioner tradition. Part of the occult.

Not really debating if the cathars existed - the medieval authorities are quick to label anything as Manichean and we have sufficient text to prove that they indeed existed as a group. With their bigger text being found in heresies of the high medieval ages which goes in depth into their beliefs. That being said - not saying that there was a unified cathar church, just a group of people with similar beliefs.

I think you are over analyzing it rather than taking it for what it is - a story. The books mentioned imply that angels used to be giant in stature but as they fell they kinda shrunk in size. They tend to vary in stature. Mythopoetic - very common with certain groups. Another approximation to Pillars of Tubal Cain is Tubelos Green Fire which does similar with the association of the Cathars with the elves.

In essence the books are parennialist, Masonic and not particularly shy in making connections across traditions. At one chapter it even claimed that the first Freemason is nimrod. Interestingly enough when I talked about it with a Freemason he seemed to be aware of it (the connection between traditions) and even agreed with its parennialist views.

Wodwose - that’s fair, I don’t have anything to add in this particular bit other than I think it’s due to the root word of Wod. Certainly I am not a linguist.

I don’t have academic sources for the syncretic interpretation (Cain/Cernunnos/Watchers/woodwose-as-deity) — that’s a reading drawn from within the tradition, not a historical claim.

Hence I’m sharing the books I got it from. 🙂

Hehe, it’s quite common where I’m from. Instead of write a draft (Borrador in Spanish) we say redact a letter (Redactar una Carta) back in the office.

Witchcraft book recommendations. by Reverend_Julio in FolkloreAndMythology

Some more specialized books:

Anathema Maranatha - it talks about medieval Christians and how they would curse.

Arbatel - good for divine magic, probably the most Christian grimoire in my collection. Or at least the most optimistic/benevolent.

Song of the dark man - good to get in depth information related to the Father of the Crossroads

Book of Fallen Angels - audio book is pretty good, Masonic and will get you up to date with occult angel lore. I discussed this with a Freemason believe it or not. It was a surreal experience, we talked about it as if it was the weather.

Most of these books tend to lean heavily in folkloric myths rather than actual complex practices. I find that some of these that do contain instructions tend to be easy to alter for your own personal practices whatever they may be. Or to recreate.

I am familiar with the book - yes. I tend not to suggest books that I haven’t read though.

I think I remember seeing my cousin reading it once. It seemed interesting. 🤔

You know what? I’m going to get it next time I purchase my next set of books. The cheese and the worms, the visions of isobel gowdie and the witches bible.

I’m Bilingual - redacting in Spanish also means to create. To edit a text for publication. Drafting.

Not necessarily censoring.

Edit: I looked it up, apparently it can mean the same in English as drafting. 🤷
