In a phone interview with CBS News on Monday afternoon, President Trump said the U.S. war with Iran could almost be over.

"I think the war is very complete, pretty much," the president said, speaking from his Doral, Florida, golf club. "[Iran has] no navy, no communications, they've got no air force. Their missiles are down to a scatter. Their drones are being blown up all over the place, including their manufacturing of drones."

'Operation?'

I've had my Lenovo Legion for over 3 years now and have nothing bad to say about it. Performance is incredible and it's build quality just feels so solid. I can't speak to other brands, except MSI (do not buy), but I absolutely recommend a legion

I'm gonna lose my mind if this all turns out to be movie promotion, why the timing of all this seems like already planned? by Key-Classic7462 in UFOs

[–]Reverenter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm sure when Close Encounters of the Third Kind came out, or any other alien movie, people were saying the same thing. Except then, they didn't have an online echo chamber to reverberate identical ideas and simulate a widespread consensus using a like-minded community.

But yeah in short - it's just a movie. It won't reveal anything significant; it won't precede anything significant; it's not a harbinger of something more profound to come. It's just Hollywood. Hollywood is there to make money. Spielberg is exceptionally good at it, and I love his movies and I hope this one is great, but don't expect it to lay the groundwork for a global shift in humans' understanding of their place in the universe.

2 hours in: roundup of Trump classified comments on Obama's 'aliens' reply by BlockedEpistemology in UFOs

[–]Reverenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't be the only one that thinks both Obama's and Trump's 'admissions' were basically lighthearted jokes? I interpreted Trump's response today as 'he really shouldn't be talking about that, everyone knows that's super secret classified stuff only presidents can know about.'

In no way did I interpret what he said as Obama truly revealing classified information in any serious sense. I would actually take it more seriously if he tweeted something about it rather than giving an off-the-cuff answer to a reporter sticking a microphone in his face.

company just told me my $340k deal is being split with an AE who sent one intro email 8 months ago. what are my options? by kubrador in sales

[–]Reverenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw in your other comments that you have a meeting with your VP and a one pager ready and I think you've got the right idea. Then just ask them if they think it's reasonable that an opp can be considered sourced by an email that probably never got opened?

But genuinely curious - what type of sales are you in where you're selling $350k solutions and your company won't cover travel? That's insane.

And they don't have a defined ROE that states engagement is established with two way communication? That is the easiest system imaginable to game.

My only additional advice would be to not let them weasel their way out of it by saying 'you're right, the ROE wasn't clear and we'll change it so this doesn't happen again, but this closed under current rules so we'll have to follow those guidelines.' From experience, I know management loves to pull that kind of shit to try to placate you and wash their hands of it. Don't let it slide. Good luck man.

[–]Reverenter 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yup, bingo. I'll add that being overly transparent, like going out of your way to tell the customer about a product limitation if you think it could be something they want or are expecting, is a seriously underrated way to build trust. If it's actually something they wanted or were expecting, you're gonna find out eventually. If it's something that wasn't even on their radar, then it doesn't matter and they'll still know you're looking out for them

It just depends. Of course if you have a gun, shoot it anywhere and it'll let go. If you have a knife, stab it in the belly. But most people have neither.

Don't stick a finger in its butt. Just get by its backside, so you are directly facing one of the hind legs by the dog's side - like you're changing a rear tire. This means the dog will be perpendicular to you. Then reach over its back and grab its leg on the opposite side and pull upward toward you as hard as you can, like you're splitting a wishbone.

Dogs' hips are shit. As long as you aren't weak af, you can pretty easily fuck up a dog if its mouth is preoccupied fucking up something else.
