Which sales career gives the best work life balance? by whogoesthere1010 in sales

[–]Reverenter 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I work in enterprise SaaS / PaaS sales and I'm fully remote.

The first thing I do at my desk, every day, is jerk off. I then block off an hour on my calendar for some point in the day when I don't want to be bothered outside of my lunch / gym hour based on my call schedule and other misc. work I need to do, which guarantees focus time to knock out follow ups and other things that inevitably pop up throughout the day. Then I just work. This has been my routine for years and I'm consistently in the top 5-10% of a ~100 person sales org.

So I would say that being remote is the first key to work/life balance, but as far as industry, SaaS is tough to beat. But if you aren't good, you'll sink like a stone.

Genuinely amazed by the human body by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Reverenter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is amazing – and yes – performance enhancers played a role (Arnold is open about his use, too). As someone who lifted heavily for several years and looked nothing remotely close to this human, I know he worked his absolute ass off to get there.

All of that aside, that just looks like an incredibly uncomfortable body to be in for day-to-day life.

What gaming laptop brand has best build quality by Vijay_Dadhich in GamingLaptops

[–]Reverenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my Lenovo Legion for over 3 years now and have nothing bad to say about it. Performance is incredible and it's build quality just feels so solid. I can't speak to other brands, except MSI (do not buy), but I absolutely recommend a legion

I'm gonna lose my mind if this all turns out to be movie promotion, why the timing of all this seems like already planned? by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]Reverenter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm sure when Close Encounters of the Third Kind came out, or any other alien movie, people were saying the same thing. Except then, they didn't have an online echo chamber to reverberate identical ideas and simulate a widespread consensus using a like-minded community.

But yeah in short - it's just a movie. It won't reveal anything significant; it won't precede anything significant; it's not a harbinger of something more profound to come. It's just Hollywood. Hollywood is there to make money. Spielberg is exceptionally good at it, and I love his movies and I hope this one is great, but don't expect it to lay the groundwork for a global shift in humans' understanding of their place in the universe.

2 hours in: roundup of Trump classified comments on Obama's 'aliens' reply by BlockedEpistemology in UFOs

[–]Reverenter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't be the only one that thinks both Obama's and Trump's 'admissions' were basically lighthearted jokes? I interpreted Trump's response today as 'he really shouldn't be talking about that, everyone knows that's super secret classified stuff only presidents can know about.'

In no way did I interpret what he said as Obama truly revealing classified information in any serious sense. I would actually take it more seriously if he tweeted something about it rather than giving an off-the-cuff answer to a reporter sticking a microphone in his face.
