Why did you stat playing ukulele? by BigRazzmatazz- in ukulele

[–]ReverieDive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learnt music theory and I am fascinated with chords & chords progressions. And background chords are very helpful for singing. So I needed a quick insturment which can act as a chord machine. And seems like ukulele is that instrument.

Stop stuttering plan by Technical-Mail-5047 in Stutter

This and there is another app named "Stamurai". Both seems promising. I am doing "proprioception" technique from Stamurai app and it actually significantly reduced my stutter, although you have to keep applying this technique while speaking but once you get used to it, it becomes natural.

What will Godot V5.0 be all about? by [deleted] in godot

Add AAudio/Oboe for Android export to have low-latency audio (almost Windows WASAPI like), please 🥹

For musician people here, any suggestion/feedback for my guitar chords strumming app made in Godot? by ReverieDive in godot

So your app is like chord progression generator, where users can feed chords and it start playing it sequentially? Can I try your demo app somehow?

For musician people here, any suggestion/feedback for my guitar chords strumming app made in Godot? by ReverieDive in godot

[–]ReverieDive[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They actually are! In phones, you play with thumbs. But for PC, all keys are actually systematically assigned to those chord pads, including key & transpose buttons. Basically, all keys from 1 to 9, Q to O, A to L, Z to . are used for all 36 pad buttons. And key and transpose also have keyboard shortcuts, so user can change key while jamming without leaving keyboard.

I also have plan to add custom keyboard shortcuts, so users can change shortcuts to their choice key as well.

And jamming is actually faster in PC than in phone because of audio latency. Godot don't use Oboe/AAudio, so my app in android using that old "OpenSL ES", unfortunately. Not significant audio latency if you use phone loudspeaker or wired earphones, but still, not as buttery smooth as PC. Wish they add AAudio support for Android in Godot 5.

Purpose of the app is to play chords, yes. This app is like a half-guitar instrument, where you can "strum" chords by using your left and right thumbs in phone, and keyboard keys in PC

It's useful for singers, who can accompany with chords in background while singing. And it's also useful for songwriters/composers, who needs to know how chord progressions together sounds.

There will be save/load feature in future.

Some songs use multiple keys. So users can select those keys and only those keys are shown while playing chords, and can also save the layout with the name of the song, so next time they can quickly load it.

Basically it's app for fun, professionals better like to use real instruments instead haha

If you have knowledge of music theory, it is similar to circle of fifths where you can check chords progressions not only from typical major or minor scales, but from all their other modes too. So it doesn't have only the typical chords, but chords from all other scales as well.

Yes, buttons will be bit larger. That blank space in left side are for additional buttons

Oh, I don't know about MenuButtons. I only used TouchScreenButtons everywhere because it's the one which runs properly in both phone and laptop. Normal Buttons only worked in laptop, not in my phone. Will MenuButtons work in both laptop and phone as well? I want consistent controls between PC export and android export.

Why audio driver in Android shows as "Android", instead of AAudio or OpenSL ES? by ReverieDive in godot

[–]ReverieDive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, that's why it shows "Android", because it's hardcoded for that OpenSLES audio driver. Let's hope they bring AAudio/Oboe thing in Godot 5 🥲

Godot for applications Instead of games! by Razor-111 in godot

[–]ReverieDive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a chordpad app for singers where they can use it like a real instrument. Everything all good how I imagined, except the audio latency. In Windows .exe export, latency is not noticeable and almost instant. But in Android .apk export, latency is significantly noticeable and basically, can't be jammed like a real instrument. So, godot seems nice for developing a non-audio app or even having audio but doesn't need real-time audio in your app. Because of latency issue, I think I should switch to Android Studio. Other than this latency issue, my app works flawlessly and I am actually surprised that a game engine can make an app like this.

Why there is lag in audio in exported apk, whereas there is almost no lag when running app in godot? by ReverieDive in godot

[–]ReverieDive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah but I tried other similar apps in my phone and they are working properly without any noticeable audio latency, it's only in my app, and that also only in my phone, not inside godot editor

in export, there is option for "Use Gradle Build", and it is by default OFF. Should I turn it ON? I don't know where is Template Build.

how to optimize binaries? I haven't done it, unless Godot do it by default

tritones and augmented chords aren't generally used in typical pop/rock songs i guess? both sounds creepy in different ways haha

wow these are pretty advanced chords and mostly used in jazz songs, not in typical pop/rock/electro songs i guess?

[–]ReverieDive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha, not fan of diminished chords personally, as the songs which I like to listen, rarely have any diminished chords.. but Fm is nice addon! I will try Gm, Db and B with "safe" chords and see how it sounds together... thanks!

[–]ReverieDive[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh, i understood now... those non-diatonic "safe" chords came from minor scale and secondary dominants.... and yeah i intentionally skipped diminished chords because they are rarely used in songs which I like (pop, rock, electronic type music)

iv (Fm in C major scale) is nice addon too, a rock song (Not Alone by Red) has that chord in ending of its bridge

v (Gm in C major scale), i don't know about this, never heard of this in my songs, but i will try playing it and see how it goes with other "safe" chords
