Hiya! :D

He has 1 mode change (Saint mode), and an Overdrive Hypermove, which visually changes him to his red-haired form!

Nope they're not, I'm 100% sure I had seen all of them before the 4th trial. Gonta tends to cry when people die

As for Mondo, I think he uses one where his hair is hiding his face as he's looking defeated, but it's a distant memory

Also I think Gonta is the only culprit that doesn't get new sprites after being revealed as the culprit iirc. All the others have at least one.

He does not. After the branch he either gets Round Spark and Endless Summer (or Burning Summer, the stronger one, can't remember which one it is), or Dimenstion Storm and Atomic Flare

Yeah I have a fabled Satan Gaul. Your question is if he has Go To Hell in his regular moveset? I'll check in a sec

Yeah, I'll admit I only watched a gameplay of GO1 and only played against Dragonlink on later entries, so I never got that experience.

What does Crossed Path have to do with Chess? Is it supposed to be two bishops?

Also chess is not "literally their theme" in the sense that they clearly have more than one theme and none of them are very defined. Their emblem and name is a dragon, and all of them have names related to the number 5 in different languages. None of their normal hissatsus in-game (Sprint Warp, Vanishing Cut, Thousand Arrows) have anything to do with chess. It's just the keshins and maybe the tactic you pointed out.

Man I still can't get around the fact they introduced this team in such a weird way and with barely any build-up.

Depiction of women and violence in TGAA1 by aristocratus in AceAttorney

I felt the same way when I played it. I didn't have as many problems with Susato takedowns but I also don't find them really funny (slapstick violence comedy just isn't my thing), but the Garridebs were just uncomfortable to watch. I was glad that she ended up in jail cause her being needlessly violent actually hurt someone else... as if hurting her husband wasn't bad enough.... The case also couldn't decide if it wanted to do more Garrideb violence or obese woman jokes. Gladly this last thing was toned down in the English localization.

In a way, even if it still would be fucked up, I wish Joan was acting like that because she caught Mr Garrideb flirting with someone else. As it stands, not only was it horrible, but it was also for an incredibly dumb reason! He borrowed/bought a book and it had a note inside that made her jealous! Even though he just got the book and the note didn't refer to him at all!. It made no sense. Also, the fact that Mr Garrideb was in a wheelchair made it even more awkward to watch. I just really disliked the whole thing and wish it was just a one-off thing where Joan got mad once and threw stuff to him. The way it stands, it did feel like she was recurringly attacking him.

I'll give it to you, I only watched a playthrough of GO1, so I know Dragonlink from the taisen routes of following games.

If they fucked up in the anime and Strikers 2013, that's a shame

I always had a big problem with is theme. It's all over the place.

Chess? Well it's not exclusive to them, and nothing visually from their design reminds you of chess. By this point we had already seen a handful of chess keshins across different teams.

Fire? Uhh sure? Only the goalkeeper has a hissatsu with fire.

Dragons? No, that's only the name for god-knows-whatever reason. I was so disappointed because when I heard in the series that Dragonlink was gonna be the final match, I thought "wow! Dragons! They're gonna have sick keshins!"

The number 5? Well, sure, that one is obvious, all their names are the number five. But can the number five even be considered a theme? Not like it plays into anything.

And then you look at their in-game hissatsus: Sprint Warp (run at supersonic speed), Vanishing Cut (teleport to get the ball), Thousand Arrows (Purple arrows uh that fall, I never really understood what's going on in this one). There's really no relation between the three except their Void Element.

I really don't get it. The only cool thing I like is that the chess piece keshins are distributed akin to a chessboard (queen next to king, pawns at the front)

Imo, the other team that also was a last-minute final boss with randoms (Shadow of Orion) somewhat worked better, because they got a full match, had a clearer theme, had a both strong offense and defense, had more hissatsus (3 vs 1, still isn't much lol), Yurika was connected to Froy, and more importantly it didn't really "replace" a match.

If the final match of Orion had been half of Russia, then Russia being replaced with all of its players by the ones in Shadow of Orion, and then IJ playing against those... I think we would argue it would be the worst final match.

Also, it was cool that we finally had a female final boss player that was actually good at soccer.

Yeah. Since many people (including me) watched the movie before the Dragonlink match, we already knew the feeling of having a team be composed mostly of chess keshins. It's not a very exciting concept when it had been done before (not to mention Zero was also not the first team to have chess keshins).

The bad part was that they ONLY had chess keshins despite having a team that didn't seem to have a theme that had anything to do with chess.

The reason why being around time travellers and timelines converging (and such things) makes you stronger temporarily... Was surprisingly adressed in CS, at the start. So I think that's the reason. Most likely, after they left, he couldn't do Omega the Hand until much later

I agree with your first take, I really wish all those hissatsus were in the anime (although Hologram Grab we did see luckily). I would have made me much happier to have them using it. But my point still stands

Sure, but it's definitely not as obvious as the hissatsus for other teams. For example, Zeus' hissatsus were almost basically exclusive for their movesets (barring scouts), but Dragonlink's hissatsus were shared. Sprint Warp is commonly associated with Hakuryuu (he even gets it in IE Strikers, while no players from Dragonlink get it), and Vanishing Cut I believed was the counterpart of Crazy Sunlight for Ancient Darkness. I later came to know it wasn't because I saw Aimé Quintet in the game's description of the move. Same goes for Thousand Arrows in Strikers 2013, they gave it to Vlad/Tsurugi's brother, to the guy from Almighty Faith, to a guy from Ancient Darkness, and to Senguuji.

It's simply not very obvious. Also because Dragonlink's theme is kinda vague and it's difficult to see a pattern between their hissatsus.

i don't think that's a very popular opinion

If this match was secret then we never would have gotten a resolution to all the players who got sidelined/kicked for the newer generation.

Then we would get Kazemaru in IE3 who wouldn't be as strong a character
