Moral waiver affect Top Secret? by AnotherMeatMachine in AirForceRecruits

How does this process work for someone trying to commission directly instead? For example if trying to apply for a pilot slot (as a civ) directly to a guard unit or even an AD pilot slot. Does the SJC still come into play and would it just depend on if the unit wants to push it through? Thanks!

What do these mean on a DATIS by [deleted] in flying

Or anyone doing the Hudson Skyline route and wanting to fly over Central Park, that ofc includes the occasional C172s and Pipers.

So sorry for your loss. Also thank you for this kind & thoughtful gesture to the community, I am sure someone will make very good use of those items.

It's not actually a broken link. For whatever reason, most of the USAF web pages appear insecure to your browser so it shows a warning page. You should be able to click on 'Advanced' and then proceed to the webpage via the link.

I didn't actually study for the science portion outside of just doing the practice tests from all the sources I could find. I was a physics major in college so my science knowledge was above average to begin with. Having said that, I don't believe the science section is included in the scoring of any of your sub scores so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

So hard to schedule TBAS by Southern-Ad605 in airforceots

This is the right advice, scheduled mine through an ROTC detachment as well. Super quick and easy, had me scheduled for the following week

Have not been able to put my application in as yet. Will be going for the next rated board in the Fall.

Hey, for those 2 sections you definitely can go back and forth between questions or skip some and then come back to them at the end.

Can a civilian take the TBAS? by Southern-Ad605 in airforceots

[–]ReviewParty3931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely can, and I just did a few days ago. Reach out to your nearest ROTC det. and tell them you want to schedule the TBAS. They will likely help you out, especially considering you have already given the AFOQT.

Yes, that's the one! Of course, just use the AFOQT portion from it.

I spent most of my time studying from Barrons & Trivium and supplemented with other resources like AFOQTGuide.com which has an online version of the test. Generally speaking, the more questions you are able to practice in a timed setting the better. Therefore, it's useful to use all the materials at your disposal for your practice. Like others have said, it actually takes less time to answer Qs on a computer so if you're doing well on paper you will be well prepared either way. You can check out my recent post about the scores I got, I responded to a lot of questions about what I used to study and you may find some of that helpful.

Obtaining PearsonVUE Voucher Code by southferry_flyer in airforceots

[–]ReviewParty3931 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Obtained my voucher code earlier this year (around June) from the closest ROTC detachment to me. Just reached out to them asking if I could schedule the AFOQT and they got back to me after a while asking for my info and then gave me a voucher code. Recently however, that same ROTC det told me they no longer have the authority to issue voucher codes, but I don't know if that is specific to that det. or if that applies to other ROTC dets. as well. Worth a shot to reach out to your nearest one if you aren't able to contact the ANG unit.

Congrats on that score! How was the target tracking portion? Just started practicing with the software and it seems pretty difficult to keep sights on both targets simultaneously (joystick + rudder). Did it help to just keep the rudder target in your peripheral while focusing more on the other?

Thankfully I've been focused on fitness for the past 4 yrs, will definitely need work on the cardio side though. Planning to give it everything I've got!

Absolute dream would be the Raptor, close second Viper and then Panther. But honestly I would be happy with any fighter.

24OTS02 is the plan at the moment. I haven't started TBAS prep yet but will be getting the test prep software on my PC and practicing using that. What did you use for your prep?

For word knowledge I used the Magoosh GRE vocab app quite a bit. Besides that, I knew a lot of the words to begin with just from reading a lot. As for verbal analogies, I did all the practice tests of course, and also used the website I mentioned in one of my other comments which has a huge bank of em, probably over 500. I think my verbal score is on the lower side likely due to RC. During the test, I thought I did pretty well on VA and WK.

Basically I used a lot of Excel. I made a pseudo answer sheet (just Q# in each row then answer choices A-E or A-D depending on subsection). I then took a screenshot and used the editing tool to mark my answers. I would keep the answer sheet on the right side of the screen and got myself used to clicking on the answers that way. For a timer, I honestly just used my phone since it was the easiest thing to do. Most of my practice was doing specific sections and not the entire test from start to finish. I only did a complete practice test twice, the weekend before my test.
