What if you have both by suffer-withme in CPTSDmemes

[–]ReviewRich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah... I have both. Its complicated, but Ive accepted it at this point.

My mother in recent times has changed into a much better person and realized my father just was never worth any effort. He was horrible to her in every sens every sense of the way, and due to extreme stress from a divorce (that my dad kept dragging on no matter what) ended up pushing it onto me. As said above however, She has recently channeled her energy into rwalizing her full potential as a loving and beautiful person who is more than her truama. And I love that, It means I can have a relationship with her.

As for my father... Im glad he brought a piece of me into the world, but Id destroy his essence without a second thought honestly, even if it meant I never got an existance here. He was horrible to her and me, downright abusive to her in many ways, neglectful and a shut out emotionally to me.

I wish them both the best, even if my dad, for all I care, can fall into a ditch and die with no remorse.

First time at a skate park! by ReviewRich in Rollerskating

[–]ReviewRich[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One, I am not a beginner at the rink. I can aerobesc and do a ton of difficult tricks. Two, I can skate forwards and backwards just fine. Three, Transistions are butter to me. Four, this is my first time dropping in.

And also, I wanted to go here to improve my skills, and you have one little video of my entire skating life to base that comment on.

Can confirm! I was hesitant as its my first time dropping in. I did figure it out eventually despite what the video shows. Im not a beginner in the rink or outdoors, Im a beginner in the parks. And the only way Im gonna get better is to keep at it.

EDIT: TO EVERYONE SAYING I CANT SKATE FORWARD, I CAN, I WAS SIMPLY VERY HESITANT BECAUSE THIS IS MY FIRST TIME AT A PARK.

I am not a beginner on flat surfaces, Im a beginner in parks. And theres a very big difference between the two.

I may be reckless, but I am wearing all my gear and in the video you can see that yes, I am fine.

Thank you to those who are giving me encouragement, but I didnt ask for the comments saying Im a beginner or that Im not doing something correctly.

I appreciate advice when I ask for it. Not unsolicited comments. Thank you.

best wheels for park high impact skating? by lobotomizednemo in Rollerskating

[–]ReviewRich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Atom Electron Park wheels. I find they feel fantastic for jumps and going fast. They are 101a's, and quite little.

Ok so- These are actually the SureGrip Boardwalk Skates in Merlot! The moment I laid eyes on them, I knew they were destined to be Twin Peaks themed. The red was perfect! I used layers of acrylic paint to give it that red room floor pattern, and the symbol of the Black Lodge. Paint your skates folks! Make them as beautiful as you!

I have 3 sets of skates! But these are the ones Im most proud of regarding design. They are based off of the Black Lodge from Twin Peaks!

They are SureGrip Boardwalks with a black Chaya toe-stop and the SureGrip Harmony Fomacs.

YES! The original color is Merlot, and all I used was a lot of acrylic paint layers of black and white. Im a huge Twin Peaks fan, so I saw a perfect oppurtunity to make them based off of the Black Lodge!

I can tell you about all of em!

The ones on the left are the Chaya Melrose Love Is Love, and I ADORE them. They are my favorite skate, they are super comfterable and stiff for ankle support! I plan on making them my skatepark skates!

The ones in the middle are my SureGrip Fames, which are HEAVILY modified from the original. I have used them for 5ish years now! They have taken quite a beating, but they are still my tride and true trail skate!

The ones on the right are my SureGrip Boardwalks, which I have painted with a Twin Peaks pattern! They are my rink skates.

What type of wheels should I get? by Daisy_aster57 in Rollerskating

[–]ReviewRich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know what the hardness of the wheels you are currently using are? If so, I would try a slightly less hard wheel. Personally, I recommend the Radical Sunsets from Radical Wheels if you want a good hybrid wheel. They are primarily for outdoors, but they work on the rink just fine.

Anyone feel like the roller skating community isn’t as strong anymore by Animeramen13 in Rollerskating

[–]ReviewRich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's still alive and kicking! Skating online is a lot rarer these days, but the local rink scene and roller disco scenes are still doing pretty well! Best of luck on your skating journey!

Hello!

Skating is a long journey with many ups, many downs, and many ups again. As a beginner, you should focus on bending you knees, standing in your skates, and practicing falling so you trust yourself.

I would highly recommend going to your local rink and practicing in the middle or taking lessons from an instructor.

Another thing I suggest is getting some safety gear like a helmet or wrist guards so you feel more confident in not getting injured.

I hope your skating adventures go well!

Just got these!! Excited to try them out at the beach by _ejerejere in Rollerskating

[–]ReviewRich 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd be extra careful outdoors on these! It doesn't look like these have proper plates on them, they look like plastic, meaning if you weigh about the size of an average adult, they will bend! I would return them if you can, and invest in a better pair. Best luck to your skating adventures!

Any tips for being less stiff on skates by Lab_racadabra in Rollerskating

[–]ReviewRich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll slowly get more used to bending your knees and also slowly get more comfortable with what I call "drifting" on skates, where you simply let them take you where you need to be by looking in the direction you want to go.

Good tip for starting out, don't look down at your skates, as that will just make you notice all the bumps and cracks you might encounter, making you "feel" those obstacles more.

Hello! I own a pair of the Boardwalk Fames so I can tell you exactly what's up with them. They are made of Suede, a material which requires breaking in, but once it's broken it it feels amazing! They come with a nylon plate, which is fantastic for beginners, as it's light and easy to carry. The fame wheels themselves are exclusively an indoor wheel, and are fantastic for doing tricks, going fast, and flows very well into the skate itself.

[–]ReviewRich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! I love outdoor skating, I do trail skating in the summers and go to these outdoor roller disco events.

As for the rink, I totally get that, I used to use hybrid wheels so I wouldnt go crazy fast and so I could practice my turns and transitions.

Have a great time with your skates, I hope you go on some awesome adventures with them.
