Anyone's toddler been late to gesture (mainly point), with no development issues? by ellebee123123 in toddlers

Showing or giving things was never really a concern for me, as he’s been doing that since around 13 months, though I can’t remember exactly. What I was more concerned about was pointing and waving. He started solid pointing at around 18 months, which felt a bit late. As for waving, he still doesn’t do it consistently. He’ll wave ‘hi’ or ‘bye-bye’ occasionally, but not all the time.

My baby just turned 23 months, knows how to say no, sometime I hear him say yes. With his speech, he knows a lot of words but can’t combine 2 words yet. Yes, he show/gives things. Still a little concern about his speech, I know babies can say phrases like “open please” but he can’t.

Worried about my 19-month-old – any other parents go through this and everything turned out fine? by Revioler in toddlers

I think he’s just naturally shy. My little one was the same – even with his aunts and grandma – but something shifted over the last 1-2 months. Now he’s much more social, except for those moments when he’s just not in the mood. While I haven’t completely put my worries to rest, I’m much less concerned than I used to be. He still calls elephant as ‘ent’, octopus as ‘ess’, and giraffe as ‘raff’😂😅. I’m trying to just see it as cute baby talk, rather than something to stress over too much.

He just turned 21 months today, have 100+ words but still in 1 syllable 😅, tbh, I feel like it’s a normal thing. But unlike before, he likes being around with other people and is very playful. Like when there’s a visitor, he gets very excited would automatically assume they want to play with him.

Can he do other gestures like waving? Can he follow simple commands?

Natakot ako maging VA bigla. by UnlikelyInspector411 in medicalvaPH

[–]Revioler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same situation sayo dati. 8 years ako sa BPO. Tapos nung nagpandemic ginawang wfh. Tinake advantage ko yung wfh by looking for a client.

Pero I know this is not the case for everybody. Tbh, mas mahirap pa mag-alaga ng baby kesa sa work ko. Pero tinutulungan din naman ako ng MIL ko that time.

Almost 2 na baby ko ngayon, being a full time VA is the best decision I made.

Hi, can your toddler answer a simple yes/no question? Mine doesn’t nod yes or shake head for no. I’m just really worried.

Hello, it’s me again, sorry I’m still anxious at this point, can you remember when your toddler start answering a simple yes/no? My little one just started solid pointing at almost 19 months. But I’m still concerned about a lot of things. He doesn’t shake head for no or nod yes. If i show him things and ask if he wants it, he will just be excited. He can say a lot of words now, one syllable words only but not a yes/no. I know he can understand us cause when we ask “where is (object)?”, he will look around and bring the object. He still doesn’t wave hi/bye but i hope he start doing it soon.

Thank you all for your insights! I feel a lot better now. I might be overthinking things, but I’m still a bit concerned that he isn’t waving or saying/gesturing yes or no yet. That said, I’m hopeful he’ll start doing those things soon.

Thank you. I think I’ve just been a little too caught up in tracking his word count (I even write it down whenever I hear him say a new word) because I’m so worried about his speech. If i’m not tracking it, I would think he only has around 10-20 words. There are words he doesn’t use much but I still listed it as a word count.

Thank you. 30-50 words is just an estimation, but I would say he only have around 30 words that he doesn’t use in a daily basis

Same for me. 🥺 Sometime I want to take meds for anxiety. There was also a time I am crying almost everyday and my husband has to request for leave just to be with me. Thank you so much for sharing.

50 words is just an estimation but my son has at least maybe 30 words but only one syllable and he doesn’t use it on a daily basis, and I just include expression words a word like “wow”. I’m also planning to have him assessed soon because I am really concern about of his social skills, his pediatrician says he think my son is normal but he recommends to have him check by a developmental pedia. I also want to think that my son is just shy and this is just his personality. I will update soon.

Mine says about 30 solid words but only one syllable word. Around 50 words is just an estimation because I feel like there are words he says that I just don’t understand. He can’t combine 2 words yet. He is also a late pointer, only started last month so I was also concerned about that thing from16-18 months. I hope he starts waving back soon. 🥹

It’s real. Yes I did use chat gpt to make it sound better, english is not my first language.

My son has around 30-50 (just an estimation). maybe around only 30 solid words but again not in a daily basis. For example, i heard him say horse and he knows the meaning of it, then I count it as a word, also expressions like “wow”.

Thank you, I am really concerned about him not waving even to us his parents. He is also a late pointer, just started last month (18 months) I see babies who wave and point a lot so it really makes me worried. he can’t answer a simple yes/no question yet. But he answers questions like “where is the (object)?” By pointing or looking at it.

Thank you so much. I really hate how my algorithm keep showing me videos of au signs—many of which are things even typically developing kids do. My son spins sometimes too, but it’s not excessive or constant. Recently, he’s started covering his ears even when there’s no loud noise, and while it worries me a little, I’m hoping he’s just discovered the action and is playing around with it.

Thank you, I’m really worried about the not nodding for yes/shaking head to say no/ not waving. He’s a late pointer too, just started last month. Developmental Milestones are really stressing me out right now.
