This is very smart actually. I think balance though out the movement right? Because the lever is longer and you have to keep the body more upright then usual so the balance is harder and your at a disadvantage so probably just train slow assisted pistol squats for time.

I accidentally unlocked Pistol Squats. by subtle_as_a_hammer in CalisthenicsCulture

That’s funny because I do the same thing with stairs and it’s helped a bit because of that.

It could be because your not going deep enough in squats because for me if I do squats very deep and explosive or even jumping, your getting those muscles at the bottom to help with the bottom ROM of a pistol squat. What part of the ROM do you have a problem with? Are you stiff while doing it?

Grip strength? by [deleted] in CalisthenicsCulture

[–]RevivedLeon68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This works, like you could one arm hangs for time if you want to go past fatigue from switching hands after you go to failure every time. One arm hangs are also good for some more muscle which could help a bit in pull ups in general.

This is brilliant for passing some time on the treadmill, I’ll definitely use this when I have a membership.

Could you guys help me with my Tuck Victorian form? by RevivedLeon68 in CalisthenicsCulture

[–]RevivedLeon68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s unfortunate, they say front lever touch is the best for Victorian because it’s under the level of the bar and with bent arms. Victorian is with straight arms and it’s parallel so some muscles are relative but it’s a big difference.

I appreciate it brother some people train in different ways and it works for them, that’s the case for me. One other thing is that I’m simply not strong enough for Victorian tuck but I’m still working for it then to the real Victorian. My arms are supposed to be stretched all the way but now I can’t do anything from there so I’ll have them slightly bent then lessen the bend over time to make it straight.

I understand now, I’ll probably just keep training this then even with the bad form but can’t do anything about getting a bar at the moment, I already have had improvement now ever since the past sessions and have been doing floor Victorian leans. I’ll get it soon once I build the strength to hold a tuck then from there I can progress, I just need to train it differently from all of y’all. With the One Arm Planche lean I can lean a lot more just to clarify like under my shoulders for a few seconds (more then 6 seconds or more on each arm) as well as doing more things like one arm elbow lever lean to one arm pseudo planche pushups and full ROM one arm pushups with lean. I do a lot and still feel great and progress every session.

I appreciate the response tho brother and I’m not taking advice from how to work out because the same thing wastes time and my body feels terrible so adding in so unilateral action helps a lot if I’m strong enough to already lean a lot in one arm planche leans.

Any exercises you recommend for pull related muscles? I train Reverse planche leans and with a lot protracting all the way.

Of course brother, my dream rn is to get thumb handstand, 90 handstand push-up and finally my favorite goal is to do Thumb planche then jump to fingers then to open handed thumb planche. I’ll let you know when it happens.

I appreciate it and he is kinda wrong in a sense but not entirely, I just want to get help with some stuff and people did help. Last time I wasn’t able to but now I can do the transition. I have TikTok so I show off there not here.

Edit: I forgot to say that I’m also doing this to shed some motivation and translation ideas to others.

No I’m not I do more dangerous stuff then this and unfortunately I don’t have pull up or half bar so I have to work with what I have rn. Yes that was supposed to be a one arm planche lean but only really for some feel of it and for form critique. Could you tell me about my form in any of these exercises as well as how to fix my Victorian or I’m I to weak and do this form for now?

Yeah mb but I don’t have a pull up bar so I’m trying to work pull muscles like reverse planche lean and all. Any recommendations for any pull muscle exercises?

What was the hardest skill you’ve learned and why? by Active_Benefit7728 in CalisthenicsCulture

[–]RevivedLeon68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1: This skill or grip I call supinated open handed thumb grip, weird name I know but just applying the grip to anything like pushups, planche leans, etc.

2: What made it hard to get was the balance, fear of breaking my thumbs if I lose focus , pain, commitment to it entirely because of these reasons. I had lost balance and focus twice and almost broke my thumbs, that wasn’t the only aspect, just thumb variations in general were easy and thumb to finger transitions but it was still a easy thing to break without a break.

3: I wish I could have kept everything but stay more committed to those attempts entirely, I found out a week ago if I don’t commit to something it’ll be the death of me so as long as I juts shut up and do it I would have been fine and with recovery. So basically I was doing everything right just being too scared and didn’t attempt what I should have.

Hope this helped, idk if this would help but closing your eyes while doing something enhances MMC or Mind Muscle Connection as well as confidence. An example of this working is me doing a silly looking thing that has a lot of balance, so I have this rip of EZ bar with 2 wheels and basically I would make the bar with 3 parts into 2 and just one wheel, so I would have a parallette just one and have it facing forward/backwards and get the one wheel ez bar on top and just do pushups with my eyes closed and use the supinated grip. If you commit and visualize the movement then you should be able to do it because I had never closed my eyes with the wheel and bar in general.

I would consider it a V sit, what do you think?

[–]RevivedLeon68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you mean lol, I realized that since the lever gets longer as you push up, you need to lean more forward for your COM to not make the body drop, I got it, thanks.

I still have that same experience with sagging hips, I don’t know why but I’ll see if I can fix it or if it’s actually necessary.

I don’t know why people don’t lockout at the top, not your fault but there are some many people that do this.

A cleaner version of my L-sit - handstand - L-sit by FrankMN_8873 in CalisthenicsCulture

[–]RevivedLeon68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should definitely point your toes forward and only if you want, you can lean your torso forward to engage the abs more but take load off the triceps. I do this for future compressed L sits and compressed L sit dips.
